Caitlyn is a huge favorite on the pro scene at the moment, so I decided to write a comprehensive guide on how to abuse her in high level games.

This guide assumes that you play Caitlyn and already know how to use her, this is to improve your overall game and bring you up to a high elo level, its not here teach you the basics.

This guide will be a working progress, so keep checking back if you find it teaches you something.

Depending on the bans and picks and how well your team captain has drafted your team, Caitlyn will be used in one of two different ways.

Caitlyn solo mid OR Caitlyn with support bot.

Ideally you want the support bot, as having an AD carry solo mid is used much more in the lower ELO brackets, and whilst effective IS NOT as powerful as playing in combination with a supportive champion.

The best team to support a Caitlyn should ALMOST ALWAYS be;

Bruiser top lane

( Tanky dps ) ( Udyr, Irelia, Cho'Gath, Singed etc)

AP carry middle lane

( Huge burst ) ( Annie, Brand, Zilean etc )

Jungler in the jungle

( Go figure ) ( Lee Sin, Nocturne, Amumu, Xin Zhao, Tryndamere etc )

AD carry + support bot

- this is your lane, so I will go into more detail.

So a support champion in lane with you should be any of Janna, Soraka, Sona, Taric and Alistar. This is personal preference as each has their own advantages and disadvantages and the lane is played completely different ways.

TRAPS. USE. ABUSE.



SPAWN. RUN HERE. 3 TRAPS, zone. Zone. ZONE.

Abuse your long range, only last hit so the creep wave doesn't get pushed. If they stand on a trap, treat them to a piltover peacemaker. If they stand between traps, you've forced them into a channel, treat them to a piltover peacemaker.



If you've finished zoning them or are unable to zone them because an encounter went badly / they got a lucky crit etc use this trap formation;



Defensive traps make it impossible for them to push at you, or to be ganked from side bush. If someone pops out to get you, bait them into a trap, use your net to push yourself back and if needed burn your flash. That covers the entire distance from the middle of your traps to your tower.

First and foremost her range allows you to farm without being harassed. Abuse this. Abuse it all game. Get taps off whenever you can, watch for last hits, if there is no creep about to go down, try tap the opponent, doubly so if you have your headshot up.

Every seventh shot triggers Cait's passive, a 150% damage boost for a strike against a champion. This means every seven shots you're going to step forward and lovetap the enemy and evaporate some of their hp.

Traps are your most valuable skill. Because I said so. You should have 3 up at all times. These allow you free piltover peacemakers and map awareness and free stuns for free damage and everything that;s good in life.

Caitlyn can zone any hero right off the bat.

90 Caliber Net can push you over walls.

Ace in the Hole makes your opponents Flash worthless. Note that your ultimate can be intercepted by your targets allies. Regardless of this it means someones going to get hit by your ult.



She gets penta kills.

Caitlin is squishy. You compensate for this by the triple Doran's Blade giving a 300 hp boost.

Her low hp does mean that if your out of position or you get stunned/silenced/snared at any point you might have to blow your 90 Caliber Net and Flash to get out. Note that escaping like this is most effective if you use both abilities to jump walls, as you can be chased down with flash but very few champions have both a walldash and flash off cooldown.

Your support champion should also take Clairvoyance and buy sentry wards.
