Introduction

If you would like a fairly linear and not more or less easy to understand (for beginners) champion to play in the jungle that can be incredibly tanky yet dish out a fair amount of damage, Poppy, Keeper Of The Hammer is for you.

Poppy has a very good jungle clear and can stay full health during her jungle clear to be able to go straight to ganking or invading after.

Item Guide

First Priority Item: Trinity Force (Rush this early game to get an edge during ganks)
Second Priority: Stalkers Blade: Warrior (For supplementary AD and chilling smite to lockdown opponents)
The Rest: You take tanky items such as Dead Man's Plate and Frozen Heart. Iceborn Gauntlet can be switched out for Maw Of Malmortius if youre facing an AP heavy team.

You want to get trinity force as fast as possible. This will give you a power spike and increase your kill pressure by a lot. You can skip the enchantment on Stalkers Blade to get your Trinity Force first and then get the Warrior enchantment for added AD after. After you build your first two items (Trinity Force and Stalkers Blade: Warrior), you want to start to build tanky, hence the Dead Man's Plate, Frozen Heart and Iceborn Gauntlet. If you are up against an AP heavy team, build Maw Of Malmortius instead of Iceborn Gauntlet. Boots Of Mobility are useful to get back to Jungle once you recall or die and moving around lanes effectively.

Ranked Play

Now, I dont claim to be a Poppy god, nor very good at League Of Legends, but through my several years of play, I can pass on a trick or two.

Jungle Clear:

-Start at the Blue Sentinel at your side of the map. Only invade if the other champions on your team have a good early game such as Blitzcrank. Do not smite the blue buff
-Straight after you cleared the Blue Sentinel, head to the wolf camp. You can smite the large wolf and clear with ease using Q.
-Head to the Rift Scuttle or Gromp depending on if your smite is up and how much health you have. (if smite is up, head to Gromp and Scuttle after)
-Once finished that jungle, you could head to the enemy jungle for and invade since you will have attained level 3 through that farming and will still have lots of health.
-If you do not invade, you can look for a quick gank if the lane is pushed in or continue to power clear the other side of your jungle

Looking For Ganks:

If you want to succesfully gank as Poppy, it depends on several things.
If the lane is pushed in to your turret, you can head in behind and e them closer to the turret, if they attack you, they qqill gain turret aggro and take extra damage, and either be forced to expend their flash, or take more damage. If they have a dash ability, such as renekton, you can W to lock them down.

It is very important to remember as Poppy, that your positioning can make the difference between a successful gank and a non-successful gank. Try and force your opponent close to a wall so that you can have the opportunity to stun them with your E. It also does extra damage if you hit them against a wall.

Team Fights:

You are the front liner of the team, you are tanky and can defend your damage dealers from dashes with your w if you are positioned in-between the enemy and your team. Therefore they can focus on doing more damage and you will have more success during team fights.

If you would like to gain access to the back liners during a team fight, you can use your ultimate to briefly displace the enemy tanks and giving access to the squishy targets you wish to attack. Be careful though, try to not use your ultimate to finish off a kill, because if they survive, you have given them a free get away.

Note: If you want to secure a kill, you can use your ultimate but not charge it up as long as the enemy is close range and knock them straight in to the air as a form of cc and giving yourself the time to reposition yourself.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Poppy can be a fun champion to learn and play, and since she only costs 450 IP, just about anyone can start to play her. The key to success with Poppy is always positioning, during team fights and ganks or even just to be able to pick up her shield from her passive.
