Cooldown: 50 / 40 / 30 seconds.
Magic Damage: 85 / 135 / 185 (+0.4 per ability power OR +0.6 per bonus attack damage).
Finally our ultimate. The new patch is coming (6/22/2011), our ultimate is now healing irelia by 25% of damage dealt to enemies and 10% from minions. It has really short cooldown and pretty nice range to attack our enemies. It also makes you perfect laner, you can easy heal and farm on big minion waves. Beacause of short cooldown you can spam that skill all time.

Greater Glyph of Warding - Magic resist, this same as Greater Seal of Resilience.
greater quintessence of vigor Greater Quintessence of Vigor - Health regen, helping a lot on lane early game.

CORE ITEMS:
Mercury's Treads
Trinity Force
MY RECOMMENDED ITEMS:
Frozen Heart - Cheap item, works great versus any AD, also gives good cd reduction that allows you to spam your skills more. A bit more mana is always good ;P
Force of Nature - M. Res. + hp regen, and...movement speed, stacked with Trinity Force and masteries givies you +23% ms (12 from trinity force, 3 from masteries, 8 from FoN). Movement speed is perfect to initiate team fight, that is role of irelia.
Banshee's Veil - Situational item, great if you want to engage team fight (slow/stun can't stop you)
Guardian Angel - Second life.
OTHER ITEMS:
Atma's Impaler + warmogs armor Warmog's Armor - I don't ever build that, but it's good items compostions on irelia. Gives much hp and good amount of damage.
Hexdrinker - Cheap survi/AD item.
Spirit Visage - Cheap early game survi item.
Wit's End - This item is crazy good for only 2k gold, maybe you are a little bit less tanky, but 75 true damage + 42 magic damage + normal AD combined with att speed gives you greaaaat damage.

Backing to base, if you want to back to base, just use your ult to unpush creeps.
Standard harass with ult, try to catch enemy with your e when is full hp or more then you, activate w and r and attack him with normal attacks + ult, if he gets away from your att range, use Q to jump.
Keeping enemy to not farm, after your enemy pushed you, don't let minions come to turret range, just keep and last hit them here:
Top wards
Drop a ward in one of that points, to make sure you don't get ganked.
Yellow for normal laning.
Green if you are pushing (your enemy is ***** :d).
