Why Jarvan Top works
Jarvan IV Top
Jarvan IV was already played in toplane last season (even in proplay sometimes)but he is usually played as a Jungler. With Riot adding
Fimbulwinter you don't run out of
Mana
with this build and Jarvan IV naturally has a great synergy with Fimbulwinter because of his kit (EQ Combo and W proc Fimbulwinter shield) as well. Also Jarvan IV's passive Martial Cadence has a great synergy with grasp. Wait for Grasp of the Undying and Martial Cadence to be up and you will easily win short trades.
