People often start with scaling magic resist but since the meta right now is ad bruiser top lanes there is no reason why you would need mr for early game. The cooldown reduction will help but out more e q combos and help build up tear faster.

Of course before any engagement you must poke down the enemy carries. This is where Jayce is strong and why he was tweaked.

Speed your team up with your e once the enemy team is low enough. Immediately after your tank engages, jump a carry with a q and e them out away from their team. By doing this the ad carry is zoned and is unable to get back with his team. Throw up a w and the switch forms the finish them off.

He is an excellent farmer for a top laner. Use this toward you advantage. Build up a huge farm difference and wreck in 1v1s and late game.
