Hard to catch, good waveclear and charm makes it hard to initiate on enemy team. high burst damage as well.
Alistar
Will try to stop you from using abilities on enemy team. Be careful in teamfights with Alistar in it.
Amumu
Not only does he deal hp% dmg in an aoe, his ultimate can hit your whole team and usually win fights that way. Your size can make this easier.
As you are going to be autoattacking, his E will also deal more damage should you focus him with those.
Try to save silence for him to avoid all that.
Anivia
Can hold lane well and make it hard for you and your team to engage.
Brand
High damage abilities and decent waveclear.
He might not do much damage on you if you have Adaptive Helm or just enough health and resists in general, but can be a problem against your team.
Caitlyn
High range, headshot resets, traps and E will make it hard to catch her.
Cassiopeia
Lots of slows and AoE stun/slow and hard to catch, but if you catch her she can't do much.
Dr. Mundo
You shouldn't be seeing him jungling with the amount of damage he takes in there. In a teamfight, he is hard to catch or kill and moves towards enemies faster than you do.
However, he is mostly going to be attacking single targets and even with some tenacity from W, he is susceptible to CC.
He is not a problem for you when alone, but will be a problem if your team is behind or doesn't have anything to fight tanks with.
Ekko
Good pusher with high damage and some CC. Should be CC'd and focused on immediately afterwards before he can do more harm.
Ezreal
Makes it hard for you to get in a fight. You should get some sort of movement increasing item in your build.
Fiora
Can evade skillshots easily, target your vital points somewhat easily as well and deal high burst dmg.
However, she usually doesn't have much health and can be quickly picked off with some CC should she try to all in on someone.
Fizz
Can easily evade your skillshots while taking out carries.
Gnar
Can poke and surprise your team by suddenly coming all in and you not being able to react fast enough.
Hecarim
His ultimate can surprise your team, you not being able to do much after that. He can also gank more often.
Illaoi
high teamfight potential. some abilities do hp% dmg and also otherwise do high damage. Haven't had this matchup much so can't say for sure if it's hard to evade tentacles with Cho'Gath.
You should be only trying to quickly burst her and then run behind minions to evade E. You will most likely need a teammate to take her down unless your build includes Blade of the Ruined King.
Janna
Hard to catch. Can make it hard for you to do anything with proper placement.
Karma
High poke damage and good for pushing. Can be somewhat hard to catch.
Kayn
Second most important ban in games under skill level of Diamond 3.
Kennen
AoE ultimate followed by Zhonya will quickly rid of your team
Kha'Zix
He can duel you early on, but this can be countered by good placement and pathing in the jungle. Be careful not to go too deep in the jungle if you don't have all summoners with you.
Kog'Maw
Can shred you quickly if your team doesn't focus him in a teamfight.
Leona
High amount of cc can make it hard for you to do much in a teamfight.
Lulu
High amount of cc, good poke, shield, movement speed boost, decent wave clear and somewhat of a counter to your ultimate. Can be hard to catch.
Lux
her kit will make it hard for you to engage; good at pushing and holding lanes.
Malphite
Could initate on your team with high burst dmg despite you being there. This could make it hard for you to fight back.
Malzahar
Can do quite a bit of damage if fed, otherwise countered with an early Adaptive Helm.
Master Yi
He is a troublemaker in solo queue, but as long as he is not too much ahead, you shouldn't have a problem.
Miss Fortune
Hard to catch, can slow you and use ultimate on your team as long as you are far enough from her and your Q is on cooldown.
Mordekaiser
Quite tanky and plays rather evenly against Cho'Gath. Close-ranged 1v1 is not ideal unless you have an Adaptive Helmet and enough damage to counter his hp regeneration or spell vamp.
The main problem is his new ultimate, which you can thankfully mostly counter with Quicksilver Sash.
Morgana
Has a good amount of CC, decent pushing power and decent wave clearing. Her spell can block your ability effects and part of their magic damage for the most important team member in a teamfight, making it more likely for her team to win it.
Nami
Poor waveclear and pushing/staying power, but has a kit that makes her hard to catch or silence. Her ultimate, after all, has a high range. If you can catch her, it's usually a free kill.
Nasus
If fed, you will need the help of another teammate to win against his push. His slow, if used on you, will make it hard for you to do much. He will beat you in a 1vs1.
I haven't played Nasus in a while, so I'm not sure if his ultimate deals health percent-based damage... but if he does, it will make him even harder to fight against.
Nautilus
High amount of CC and tanky champion. Will most likely try to initiate first, often to a good success because hooks often hit targets.
Olaf
Not much of a threat in general as Olafs usually don't have enough effective health to stay in fight for long enough - he is often the first one to get kited and killed. Just make sure not to 1v1 him as he can take you on.
Otherwise, if fed and building some resists to stay in a fight for longer, your team might need to back off from the enemy and focus him down first OR alternatively kill all the other players and kill him last.
It could be hard to choose the second option depending on your team.
Orianna
Hard to catch, high damage abilities, almost instant high damage aoe CC ultimate and fast wave clear. You need to catch her somehow and silence her at the right time.
You should build Righteous Glory against her.
Pyke
Can be hard to catch, but you are more of a threat than him. Try to catch him with Q or use Q after he dashes. Silence at the appropriate time to make it impossible to escape. If caught, he is most likely going to die from your burst, some damage from teammates and your ultimate.
Twitch
First champion to ban in games under Diamond 3 skill level.
Vel'Koz
Vladimir
Volibear
Warwick
Xerath
Xin Zhao
Yasuo
Yuumi
Ziggs
Good pusher with tools to escape from engagements. Can make it hard for your team to start a fight.
Zilean
his two-bomb combo can be used both offensively and defensively. he can be hard to catch and can make it hard for your teammates to catch the enemy. On top of all this, he can grant one ally a rune for 5 seconds, which will revive them if they die while the rune is still active. This ultimate has a relatively short cooldown.
Zyra
Plants can be spammed rather often to do good damage and push lanes. She also has her ult to stop your team should they try to initiate on her team.
More info and updates to come soon. I need to add synergies and write more about threats.
I've been playing the game on and off since 2009, Starting in NA, then EUNE and finally EUW. I'm a jungle/support main with a big champion pool (80+).
Build playstyle
Farming minions and monsters early on will quickly turn Cho'Gath into a heavy tank that can push team objectives. This is what you should aim for.
You should be trying to farm as much as possible while still doing a good amount of ganks. Do counter-jungling when it's safe and clear waves after gank or check when it's appropriate. Cho'gath is a good pusher with his aoE abilities and Demolition rune. He can 1v1 many enemy junglers midgame.
Another aim for this playstyle is to get high health so you can stay in a fight and do more damage with your ultimate.
Jungling
Start blue if you can as it will make your clear faster overall. Start raptor camp by using Q so the enemies come near you (for your E) and you can attack the big one to take it down faster.
Standard clear is Blue -> Wolves -> Raptors -> Red -> Krugs -> Gank -> Recall -> Gromp
Be careful against fighters early on and keep trying to gank or counter-jungle until enough camps are available in your jungle again.
Ganking
Try to walk close to the enemy laner and then toggle your E to slow them first, then silence them and use Q while they are still slowed. finish off with E autoattacks and ultimate should you have it.
Silence should be used or saved if it looks like the enemy could try to attack your laner.
Try to gank all lanes and change your pathing every now and then. Consider pinging if you are around the river area so your team knows; they might take a while to respond otherwise.
Teamfighting
You should be trying to initiate teamfights by catching enemies offguard, usually from a frontline position.
Aside from the usual, one trick is to fake an autoattack on a minion and use max range Q just as enemy is looking at you, instead walking to them right as they walk into the Q.
In a teamfight, you should save silence for any major damage dealers or crowd control champions such as Amumu, Malphite, Kennen, Katarina etc.
The second most important targets to silence after that are any enemies looking to go all in on your team - usually assassins such as Zed.
In a teamfight, you should be in the center of a fight, slowing a carry or tank, silencing heavy damage dealers and knocking up assassins while keeping rest of the enemy behind their frontline. You could also be quickly bursting down something like an assassin or even a tank to quickly turn it into a 4v5.
