Ok so while this has a chance of working in right scenario, but have you seen the insane amount of everyone playing offtank with there champs......??????? glass cannon Karthus = A VERY DEAD KARTHUS.

#1.sure you can sit in base or behind your team and ult the **** out them but then your out of it with no real input to fights until ult comes off cd.

#2. Yes you do have your passive that lets you kill stuff after death but honestly any decent carry who is slightly fed will 2 shot you (maybe 3-4 if not fed). so that gives you about 2 seconds plus your passive, thats not really time efficient at all.

#3. As referenced earlier to play like this you cant really engage enemy with defile and barely can get in range for lay waste with out huge risk of dying.

Thanx for your input. As i stated in the introduction section, this is a situational Karthus build. He is my main AP carry as well, and carried lots of games with him with various builds depending on the situation. You said "dead karthus" "sitting behind your team". If you read again, my guide is not about spamming skills or staying alive during teamfights and certainly not sitting behind your team doing nothing, on the contrary you dash in - leave enemy team half dead and have your 4 teammates finish them off.

#5. Confused on the runes here, your super squishy so why not defensive runes? (aka armor seals) why do you have regen seals? you have 5 archangel staffs you dont need mana regen runes. Best option would be magic pen marks, glyphs, and quints (since you dont build any solid pen with items). Seals can be whatever though i would recommend armor seals. Other option is more defensive and would be something like armor seals, magic resist marks, ap or pen or mr glyphs, and hp quints.

Again.. i explained why i chose those runes. I appreciate taking the time to vote and comment on my guide but i prefer if you read the guide explanation first.
  • Super squishy = not even defensive runes can help.
  • You dont need survivability because your goal isn't to stay and fight but to kamikaze and nuke your opponents.
  • Magic regen seals = Only for early game easier farming before you get your 1st Tear of the Goddess and charge it. As stated in guide.. your goal is to farm and build a poopload of AP.

Lastly like I said I do main Karthus and have about 3-4 different builds i use depending on what im up against and what lane im in. I have and can play him in any of the lanes (mid works best still) and I also jungle with Karthus (my favorite way to go but still not as solid way to play as mid lane yet). So I think we can agree this is not a troll vote in anyway. Thank you for your time and effort and have a good day.

p.s. For those of you who want to try it for fun go ahead and do so in a normal game (or bots) when you have a bad team your playing and you can have some fun with this but it is in no way a good build even against an ideal team its not a build i would ever recommend. Also under no circumstances would I ever want to see this in ranked play.

  • I agree with you - a Good player is one that uses judgment and follows a build depending on the champion roster in current match. Its many times i find myself building a Rod of Ages or Void Staff etc too
  • I disagree with Jungle Karthus. I have tried it as well, its viable and good ganks BUT its a waste of an ideal middler. You need to hit 6 as fast as possible and farm way more than the jungle can offer you. And in most of the times you gank, even if the lane gets a kill you are mist likely to end up dead as well, since if they are gonna die, the one person they ll attempt to take with them is Karthus.
  • As for normal/ranked etc. you said yourself the build potentials are many. If the game allows and favors it, this build works wonders as well. I've carried a lot of ranked games with similar build(usually sell boots for another Archangel's Staff). I will start taking screens in case i m able to use this build again in a ranked game and post them on this guide.

#4. Yes i have used this build in past (btw add a rabadon's instead of 1 of the staffs and it does more ap). I know how it works, and its not cost effective, and its not play style effective, adn your are basically leaving your team out there 4 v 5 for every team fight (and you do get a 1 shot nuke at all of them about every other team fight if your lucky).

The guide looks good and I like the idea, but the items...

Why so many Archangel's Staffs if you don't need the mana regen couse of your kamikaze style and is the passive is unique. Some more magic penetration is needed, perhaps a Void Staff? And perhaps a Rylai's Crystal Scepter to slow the enemies passing you even more.

The Unique Passive part is only the additional mana. You still get the "3% of max mana = Ability Power" as only Passive, which stacks.

As for the penetration part, if the team is tanky, this guide wont work anyway as stated in the introduction part. Nevertheless if they are squishies that just got a little m.resist just for you, then a Void Staff should do the trick. I updated the detailed items section to include this.

For Rylais, you waste a lot of gold and ability power to get Health and slow which you dont really need. Since you only need 0.5 sec alive just to get inside the enmy team, any health is just wasted. As for slow, you can do that by placing Wall of Pain sideways and standing in it as i mention on the Playstyle section. Once you jump into them, they WILL focus you and kill you, so if you stand inside your Wall = free slow.

EDIT: Keep in mind that your damage will be done while your opponents are under the effect of Wall of Pain which means -35 less resist for them + 30 penetration from runes/items etc + 10% pene from masteries. So for void staff to be of use, their magic resist must be over ~100.
