Hi my name is Gustavo, I am Brazilian and I love to play Karthus on the mid or ADC route. I am not Karthus pro but I play until decently.
Pros/Cons
Pros
-Strong mid and late game
-Really strong in team fights
-Great wave clear
-Very good even after you die

Why Flash and Ghost?
Karthus gains AP based on his movement speed, so whenever you use your ultimate use the following combo:Spellbinder, ghost, and your boots, and if you have a Zilean on your team, ask him to use his E on you.
Note
If you don't feel comfortable using Mejai's no problem you still have two other build options
