Introduction

Hi, I'm WaR AmBusHeR and i've played a lot of games with AP Kennen. I think he's not that hard to play and he is essential in teamfights, because he can stun the whole enemy team with his ultimate. He is viable for any teamcomposition.

You can play Kennen on midlane and toplane. He is great for double AP, because of the double WOTA effect.

Pros / Cons

Pros:

- AOE Damage
- Very mobile with Lightning Rush
- CC
- Energy

Cons:

- Without Zhonya's Hourglass Kennen dies quick when using ult
- Squishy

Masteries

I pick 21 in offense and 9 in utility.
21 in offense is for more dmg output. I pick 9 in utility because of the +10 energy and extra Movement Speed is always nice. You can pick the last point in Utility in Runic Affinity if you like.

Runes

Greater Mark of Magic Penetration: More dmg to your abilities.
Greater Seal of Armor: Useful for teamfights, because the enemy will have some champions that deal attack damage
Greater Glyph of Magic Resist: Very useful on midlane, because most of the champs on mid lane deal AP damage, so you'll take less damage.
Greater Quintessence of Ability Power: Nice early ability power.

Summoner Spells

I pick the most common Summoner Spells. Flash and Ignite. In my opinion you always need flash. You have more chance to escape, because you can flash over walls and stuff. Ignite is a must because with that you can finish off your enemies and reduce the healing with 50%.

Other viable options:

- Ghost (MS boost, good for escaping and offensive play)
- Teleport (You can get lvl advantage with teleport)
- Exhaust (Reduces damage of enemy champion)

Abilities

Mark of the Storm:

Amazing passive. If you add a mark of the storm with a basic attack, you hit your Thundering Shuriken and press Electrical Surge your enemy is stunned!

Thundering Shuriken:

Very useful for farm and harass. Deals a good amount of damage and applies a mark of the storm.

Lightning Rush:

Very good ability to rush to the enemy and add a mark of storm. Additionally, this ability is very good to escape ganks and dodge enemy skillshots.

Slicing Maelstrom:

Amazing ultimate. You are able to stun the whole enemy team with this one. Kennen can turn the teamfight with this ability.

Skill Sequence

Slicing Maelstrom > Thundering Shuriken > Electrical Surge > Lightning Rush.

Take an early point in Lightning Rush to increase your mobility and escape ganks.

Items

Sorcerer's Shoes: Magic Penetration, you deal more damage!
Will of the Ancients: You need this item to sustain on mid lane. Gives a nice effect if you have another ability power guy in your team.
Zhonya's Hourglass: This item is a must on Kennen. Gives a good amount of armor and AP and a nice active. Activate it when you do your ult, and you are getting low.
Rylai's Crystal Scepter: Gives you AP, Health and a nice passive. Now you slow enemies with each of your abilities
Rabadon's Deathcap: If you are really fed, buy this big guy.

Void Staff: More magic penetration more damage
or
Abyssal Mask: If enemy team has a lot of AP damage

Teamfights

Use some Thundering Shuriken's to harass and when your tank initiates ( Amumu, Malphite etc.) use your Slicing Maelstrom, stun enemy team, deal dmg, survive and your job is done.

Summary

Kennen is a good pick for mid lane. You have an amazing ultimate where you can win the teamfight for your team.

Also, Kennen is fun to play!
