Quite the strong laner with her poke from her sweeping thing but can definitely be out poked if you can do your Q, empowered auto in a nice W. Beware of her all ins since she is Quite the strong gal and the ir jungle may just have been waiting there for 2 mins waiting for her R to come off cooldown so they can kill you. But if she does R you then R back since she doesnt want to get out of it as well. Other than that very specific situation you should look to poke her out of lane slip her engages.
Cho'Gath
If you can just slip his Q he is quite the fragile little boy. Just poke and zone him off of CS so he doesnt have too much of an impact on late game but it shouldnt really matter even if he does since you can kite and escape him suuuper easily with your passive stun and the movespeed on your E. Also dive him level 6 if your jungle is there and put him even more behind.
Darius
Darius is one of the most lane dominant melee champions out there. But lucky for you its only on other melees. Try to poke and trade with him at any given opportunity(when he tries CS) and you should be able to have a pretty easy lane. But there is always a chance that he will flash E you, in the case that you might die to him just Stun him(Q>W>E) and walk away. if its a 2 vs 1 just Ultimate. But if your jungle is there then just turn on them with your R if you have it.
Dr. Mundo
Quite a buff guy late game but just like Darius he cant really catch you. Poke, trade and kite him every time you stare at this pervert. You can out preform him until he gets his Spirit visage. then you cant really kill him but the same goes for him. So you scale up and kill his team instead. Once hes alone 5 vs 1 is pretty one sided unless he has Faker's juicy shlong in his mouth and outplays everyone of you and wins the game alone.
Aatrox
Pretty even match up since you 2 are both poke heavy lane bullies. But his cooldowns are higher than you so you can poke him more. I wont really recommend going into a full fight with him because his ability to duel is really good. So try to out scale, dodge his attempts to all in(Usually starts with his first Q, maybe an AA if he is close enough into his W) and dont let him snowball on you and everything should go smooth.
Diana
Beware when she gets close or hits level 6 since her full combo is quite the prison shower. Look at her movements, if she walks up and ignores a minion for no reason then she probably wants that hamster butt. i the case that she decides to go all out your ultimate should be enough to get away from her and if you poked her enough or your jungle is near by then its an easy kill.
Fiora
Really even match up. both of you can win but i think it will come down to the jungler. In lane try to bait her deflect by Empowered auto Q then you walk up and delay your W so she waists her ability and you get a good trade(if she doesnt use it then just W, maybe a new fiora or GOD). And like most of your match ups just kite her with your E and poke. Also dont be bit careful, she is still Fiora. If she knows that your Ultimate is down she might try to turret dive you.
Fizz
Not only does he have so much movement spells to dodge and trade with you he also has the damage to back it up. Its gonna be hard match up since you cant really kill him and as soon as he gets level 6 he will have kill pressure on you a 100%. Most people dont really expect this but if he lands R(unless you have Zhonya's) you will probably die. So play it safe after 6.
Ekko
Has a lot of QuickSpell cards laid out on the field so he will turn on you if he sees the opportunity. Can be a really frustrating lane because of how much wave clear, burst and escapes he has. If he decides to go on with his full combo then just try to stun him and run. Try to out preform him since he wont be able to teamfight as well as you.
Gnar
If you play it right by dodging out his Qs it should be a very one sided lane since you can out poke him with your AAs and its beneficial for you if he gets into his big boy form(Because he cant poke you as much and if he tries for a full combo you can nullify it pretty easily with your abilities). So match him with every opportunity and deny as much cs as you can to make him virtually irrelevant.
Gangplank
Gankplank needs to scale to be present in fights so his laning phase is one of the most weakest ones out there so take advantage of him at every turn(His barrels early game has a really bad tick timing so you can pop them before he can even notice it). If you can hold him down and make that game as hell for him as possible then he wont be able to reach late game and will just become just an overrated super minion. But if he does get into that late game GOD phase then just try to get right infront of him. That way he cant really chain his barrels and do some damage in a fight and if he uses his R on top of him self to duel with you then its not really a good thing for his team.
Illaoi
Since you are a ranged poke heavy lane bully you naturally do amazing against immobile bruisers with little to no way to out speed you. The only real thing you need to worry about her is the damage that come from her E, but if can dodge that out then her laning phase is not gonna be fun at all. Even if she gets a huge ultimate you should be able to stun her in response so it doesnt have as much of an affect as it should.
Jayce
Since he has the ability to change his set and shift between melee or ranged he does have to power to match your aggression. Should be a really snow bally lane if one of you gets a kill on the opposing side. If he combos you, you combo him thats all you can really do. I think your lane will depend on the jungle attention but you can definitely team fight better than him so on the mid to late game focus on that.
Jax
He is a problematic one since if he can land his stun and their jungle near by then you might die. Other than that, this should be a free lane for you since you can kite his combos and over all out fight him with your stuns. Just pay attention to him quite a bit since he can split push very efficiently so you will want to match him or he can get away with a turret or two and kill on your ADC.
Karthus
Hes is quite the skinny guy so he cant really take on your shurikens. Just poke him enough and he will be irrelevant in lane. The only way he might win is the late game but even then you can deal with him pretty easily if you can get near him since he is quite the insecure man.
Kassadin
If its an experienced Kassadin player he will play the laning phase well. He can watch your poke and damage quite well after and sometimes even before his level 6. Quite and even match up, definitely comes down to the player after level 6.
Kled
Can be a bit annoying in the mid game but his early game is quite bad against you so exploit that as much as you can with your basic combos and over all poke. If you play it well enough this man shouldnt really be anything of a problem. But if hes ahead then just try to play it safe and farm with your Q until you can get enough gold, If he keeps diving you just buy Zhonya's and it should be all good.
Nasus
One of the most easy match ups since he is so stack reliant. So zone him off of Cs as much as you can. Even if he can farm up and all he shouldnt really be much of a problem for Kennen since he can get away from Nasus quite easily and does have the ability to deal with him with little to no problem. Out last his ultimate with your stun combo and if he chases you when you dont want him to then use ultimate and you should get away or can even turn it around with ease.
Quinn
She is one of the few toplaners that is ranged so will be a problem for you(because most of your advantage in top lane comes from the melee match ups that allow you to harass them and let you freely scale). Can out damage you if she so chooses to but you can slip it if you dodge the beginning part of it(Her blind). I would recommend asking for help form the other players since all of her mobility comes from her Ultimate. So you can get an easy kill on her if can stun her.
Renekton
His full combo can be very devastating if he can get close enough to land his E. Then he is guaranteed to get all of his abilities off and chunk a lot of health from you. Focus on when he does and doenst have his dash. Trade with him hard during that time. Do be cautious of ganks since he can flash stun you into a nice snack. You do out scale him by a lot so focus on not dying too much.
Rumble
With his constant DPS, good early and mid game as well as his amazing ability to teamfight makes him The Guy to match you. And he doesnt have mana just like you so he is the only person that can truly match you in every aspect....Until you eventually outscale him.
Maokai
He really cant do anything against you since he is a tank and he need items to be relevant. So you will out trade him no matter how hard he tries. But he can be useful for his team as a heavy CC tank that can engage fights or stop you from getting a good ultimate off.
Riven
A good Riven is a good Riven. So if they know how to play her well enough they will be able to chain combo their CC so you cant even move and die to her ultimate. but you do have some advantages since you can poke her out of lane and play it safe enough to where she wont be able to do much.
Annie
If for some reason someone picks Annie tops against you then well you are gonna need all the luck in the world and you better hope and prey that that person somehow sucks at Annie. She beats you at every stage of the game. Early game she out trades you with ease because of her spamable abilities. Mid game she can our burst you if she can land and Late game you cant even deal with her unless you Zhonya's right before she uses her Ultimate, You cant even enter fight because the just doesnt care and will just stun you. Over all horrible match-up, just pick something that can tank her combo.
Kennen was the first champion i ever saved enough IP to get so he holds a very special place in my heart. He is an amazing champion that got me many wins that shoulnd have been possible since our team was so behind but his ability to dominate and turn an other wise one sided battle alone if he can get a good ultimate off. So i would like to perhaps share some of the information i have gathered over the time i have spent learning him.
Summoner Spells
Summoner Spells
Flash is a must for Kennen since he can get some really good flash ultimates, close the distance and secure kills as well as get out of ganks with ease. There isnt much you can do with flash other than pairing it up with your ultimate but thats quite good in my book.
For top lane teleport is a must unless you are Pantheon since it allows you to come back to lane without losing any minions(Because its so far and you dont have a support to hold the lane for you), get out of that island to help your teammates fight as well as being able to join them for objectives. If you are going mid Kennen you can switch this out with ignite but if its top then you dont really have a choice.
Runes
Runes
SummonAery- You pick one over the other ones because Kennen doesnt have a stun or a slow really early like Aatrox or Camille and you can proc it way more as well as not being able to miss is unlike Comet. Since it comes up more often you can bully your enemy laner way more but you wont be able to use the shielding part of it. You can switch this out for PhaseRush if you want to move around in fights better to reach and dodge better but SummonAery because it help you dominate the laning phase to better transition into late game.
NimbusCloak- You pick this mainly because the other options dont really help Kennen. NullifyingOrb isnt really great since most top laners dont really utilize the AP part of their kit, plus you will want to look to dominate lane so this doesnt really help with that(But its can work really well against Kennen). ManaflowBand doesnt help at all because you work off of energy not mana. Also this helps you mark enemies since you can reach them better and move around fights more smoothly.
Celerity- This rune has a great amount of synergy with with your E because you can boost your damage just by getting a speed buff. And the little bit of movement speed helps a bit. When you combine it with your E, Nimbuscloak, SuddenImpact and your ultimate you can do so much in a team fight.
GatheringStorm- This an amazing rune because the more the game progresses the stronger and stronger you get so late game you can deal a great amount of damage. You can take Scorch for more lane dominance but i take this a 100% of the time because most of my games last more than 30 minutes and this is in my opinion the most valuable basic rune after 30.
SuddenImpact- Since you can proc the rune so easily with your E so you can get some magic penetration. This is great when you all in someone in lane or when you go all out in a team fight. Not really much else you can do it with this.
UltimateHunter- Kennens ultimate is one of the best team fighting ultimates out there because of its Aoe and pairs up amazingly with your passive. So you will wanna utilize that as much as you can. You do have to fight and help your teamates quite a bit to stack this fully up but it should be done at around 20 minutes if you can play the map enough.
