Champion Build Guide

Intro

This build is for people that want to feel like aatrox does something other than getting beat after the enemy top laner gets 800 gold. With this build you throw away the healing bruiser identity and become an assassin. With the ridiculous AD ratios of your q (450% AD on 3rd q) and e proccing sudden impact, you cleave everybody's health from adcs to tanks. The build is intended to be played mid or jungle.

Prowlers's Claw

Prowler's Claw is used for many reasons, mainly: the dash that shreds armor. Now, I know that aatrox already has a dash with e, but this dash is used so that you can hit the third q. Other reasons include the ability haste, which isn't present in other lethality mythics, allowing you to spam q and e more and more lethality with every legendary purchased.

Teamfighting. Important!

You are NOT a BRUISER anymore. You should NOT engage or front line. You are now an ASSASSIN, thus you have to change how you think aatrox should be played. You can play him in two ways with this build: Like a Katarina/Master Yi that hangs back and comes in after cc is used and jumps in, or like a Diana/Twisted Fate that flanks around and kills the adc's. When flanking, you should always wait for frontline cc to be used before going in otherwise you die. Remember: You are now an ASSASSIN, not a BRUISER.

Jungle Clear

Aatrox in the jungle should NOT full clear. It's a complete waste of time as every meta jungler clears in 3:15 and Aatrox certainly does not. Instead a 3 or 4 camp clear should be recommended starting from red side to use the aoe that q has. You have multiple options to do this. Red krugs raptors into gank. Red raptors wolves gank. Red krugs raptors wolves scuttle/gank on and on. Ganks work if you either hit w on the champion or get your q knockup. If you don't get either, leave and try to invade/scuttle.

Ionian Boots of Lucidity

These boots give more of the precious Ability Haste that allows us to spam q and e more often. An absurdly good item that cannot be replaced.

Sterak's Gage

Sterak's Gage provides us with some of the survivability usually present in bruiser aatrox, although it won't make you suddenly be able to be in the middle of fights again. It also gives 50 AD further increasing the damage of your q and ult bonus AD.

Serylda's/LDR

Serylda's Grudge should be the normal armor pen item to take as it gives you more chase with its slow and gives you more fighting against tanks. But, in cases where there are 3 tanks or more, Lord Dominik's Regard should be taken otherwise you will be able to do nothing against said tanks.

Serpent's Fang

An absurdly underused item for how gold efficient and useful it is. The Collector isn't useful because we aren't building crit and it doesnt give as much lethality as Serpent's Fang does. Also with how many enchanters are building moonstaff and other shield items, this item helps keep them in check.

Youmuu's Ghostblade

Gives you even more chase with it's active and the passive allows you to move around the map really fast.

Conclusion

This build is meant to make aatrox an assassin utilizing the absurd numbers in his kit, that allow him to do so. Hopefully, this build works well for you. GLHF!
