Threats & Synergies
Be very careful in this match-up. He has a lot of burst and can pop you. Take barrier if you feel you will feed. Try to poke him and dodge his poke. All-in combo if you catch him with Q.
Take barrier. He is a free match-up for the first few levels. Once he reaches level 6, you are dead. He can pop ult on you, jump you and delete you. He will dodge all your stuns and ult with his hop. Build Zhonyas, it seems counter-productive as Fizz is AP but the active is crucial for his ult.
Watch out for her. She is very slippery and can dodge all of your abiltiies with ult and surprise you. Don't get hit by her charm, take barrier if needed.
Just watch out for his stun as his combo does massive damage. If you are scared of him, just take barrier as it will most likely save your life.
Akali is more of an annoyance than an actual threat, just don't get caught out by her and play passively.
Just watch out for her stun. Your range is far bigger than hers, so if you can execute your combo she will be dead.
Who even plays this champ? He can't do much, just poke him and don't get caught by his stun.
Be careful to not get him fed, other than that feel free to poke him in lane.
He does a ton of damage but your range is larger, so just try to bully him out of the game.
Can be annoying as he does a surprising amount of burst. Try to poke him a bit and catch him out with your Q.
Be super careful, until level 6 she can't do much, but after she can pop anyone. Always spam ? ping in your lane if she's not there, even if it's a recall, just to be safe. Her roam is insane.
Not too dangerous, just try to Q him and kill him before he can manage to get his ult off after stun wears off.
He isn't too bad, just try to stay out of his Q as it does a very surprising amount of damage. Build void staff if he goes mercs / other magic resist.
Not the worst match up, just don't get caught up in her E as she can get fed pretty easily. Catch her with stuns and pop her. If she builds tank, just go full damage / magic pen.
Very dangerous match-up, be careful not to feed her. Another match-up where Zhonya's hourglass will work wonders. Try to not waste your stun.
Extremely bad match-up. Don't stand too close to let him hook to you. This is a matchup where you 100% want to upgrade to morello ASAP due to his ridiculous healing.
It's an annoying match-up for sure, buy boots early just to dodge his skill shots better and buy health pots on back. Try to poke him a lot and just wait until late game.
Nothing notable about her, just don't get caught by her E as she will most likely one-shot even when not fed. Buy banshee's if needed.
Nothing too bad about her, just poke poke poke and try to get a few early kills, but her passive is annoying. Don't smash her egg if you think their jungler might be coming.
She has a lot of poke, just play passively and harrass whenever you can.
Yasuo isn't too big of a threat, however his wind wall is very good against Lux for blocking both her Q and E. Aim to stun him when windwall is on CD and then use your combo. Play lane passively while farming and poking.
Not a very big threat, however make sure to dodge her Q. Her blackshield will be a problem for your Q stun, so aim to use it when her blackshield has already been used.
It is important to watch out for her burst, but other than that she isn't a big threat. Hide behind minions to avoid her poke and don't get caught by her W.
You out range him very hard, so abuse this advantage. He is very vunerable as he has no peel so aim to fire off your combo as much as possible.
With her Q and your Q together, you can keep an enemy stun-locked and easily pop them with your combo.
Ashe is very good for engaging with her ultimate, allowing you to continually keep enemies stunned and take an enemy out of the equation for a teamfight.
Xayah is currently a very good ADC and pumps out tons of damage. With the help of your stuns, it is easy for Xayah to set up her feathers and root the enemy for even longer.
A good frontline bruiser. Stunning enemies he hooks in makes them easy pickings for you and your team. Make sure to shield him to negate damage for him as he probably won't be building full tank.
Your playstyles are very different, however you are both squishies and both fulfill the same role as AP burst champs. As Akali will most likely be picked mid / top, it would usually be better to have a tank toplane instead of her.
A solid damage dealer with some tankiness to back him up. Support him with your stuns and shields and he will do you great service.
Amazing frontline tank. His ganks early are very easy if you land your Q, and late game he amplifies your damage if he buys Abyssal Mask. Great all around champ with both damage and tons of tankiness.
He delivers tons of damage, so if you can stun an enemy and Draven has been getting a lead early on, he will be able to delete enemies late game with his ridiculous auto attack damage.
Ekko is okay, but he fills the same role as you, AP burst champion. There are worse synergies, but Ekko does not help you bring your kit to it's full potential by not offering utility.
A very good AP assassin. Even though you share a common role, she is a stealth champion so it is easy for her to pick off the backline. Keep the frontline busy by stunning and dealing damage in teamfights to let her sneak a kill on squishies.
You both have very strong pokes and strong denial for enemy engages. His synergy works well however with him as your ADC you may lack sustained AD damage and a hyper carry.
Janna doesn't do anything amazing for Lux herself, but she supports frontline tanks and ADCs, helping your team carry their weight. Her tornado combos well with your Q.
A very situational champ. She can hyper carry late game, however she can easily get bullied out of relevance in early game. There are better options for a toplaner like tanks.
Very reliable damage output, especially if you can land crucial stuns, her ultimate will delete all the enemies within it's range, and that's not counting her Q or AAs.
Sona is a good synergy as her ultimate helps you land an easy stun to extend the enemies' window of vulnerability even further, allowing you to do insane damage.
Champion Build Guide
Level 2: Take (Q) for poke combo.
Level 3: Take (W) for poke negation.
Max (R) when possible, it gives insane damage and cooldown reduction.
Max (E) first as it gives the most damage.
Max (Q) second as it gives more damage.
Max (W) last as it isn't crucial for your damage.
Manaflow helps with mana at all stages of the game.
Transcendence is good for CDR with my build, also gives bonus AP if max CDR.
Do not take absolute focus as Transcendence is better utility and more consistent.
Gathering Storm helps your late game scaling a lot. You can take Scorch here as well, but Gathering Storm is much more crucial and make a bigger difference once it stacks up.
Eyeball collection simply gives you more damage, always good.
helps reduce your ulti CDR even further so you can spam it ever 30s or so later stages into the game.
Q > E1 > AA > E2 (> Ignite) (> AA)
First you try to hit your Q for the stun. If you see the Q connect, immediately send out your E to the target but don't pop it. First auto attack to get your passive proc, then pop your E, and if you have time and it is safe, AA again. If not, DO NOT risk yourself for an extra AA. Use ignite if you are confident you can kill.
(Note: If enemy has Mercs Treads, this combo will be very hard to pull off. Forget about the AAs and do Q > E1 > E2 (> Ignite) )
Q > E1 > AA > R > E2 (> Ignite) (> AA)
This is the same as the basic combo, however you are including your ulti for extra damage. Same note as before, if they have Mercs Treads, do not use your AAs as you might not be able to pull off your combo in time.
Gives you mana, HP, some AP and easier CS.
This is a must-buy.
Buy many of these if you are into a very poke intensive match-up.
Very good core item. 20% CDR, 90 AP, 600 Mana, easier time CSing with passive.
What is there not to love about this item? It is expensive but fully worth it. Buy this every time.
Very good shoes as they help you deal more damage due to the magic pen. Take every time as ninja tabis or mercs treads really aren't as crucial as these.
This item is amazing for the low price it costs. You get HP, AP and Magic Pen. It is not worth upgrading this time at first unless you really want the grevious wounds passive against champs like Soraka, Sona or Sylas, etc. Upgrade regardless as 6th item.
An extremely good, but to the point, item. It gives you a massive 120 AP, which is incredible on it's own, but it also grants you an extra +40% of your total AP. This means the more you stack up your AP, the more this item will pack a punch. It's very good against all match-ups.
Good for pesky AP threats and initial stuns.
A very good item against AD threats with an amazing passive which makes you invulnerable but doesn't let you do anything for 2.5 seconds. This passive is amazing for things like dying to ignite on extremely low health or negating things like Zed Ult, Fizz Ult, Syndra Ult, Veigar Ult, pretty much anything.
A good item which gives you healh, AP and two peculiar passives. The first grants you % extra damage for each second spent in combat with a foe. This passive is meh, it's extra damage though so can't complain. The 2nd passive is what really makes this item interesting, as it grants % max hp damage, increased if foe is stunned. This is a ton of extra damage in team fights and is effective against tanks with a lot of max health.
Your main combo for this lane is Q > E1 > AA > E2. This gives you a good chunck of damage (see more detailed explaination in 'Combos'). New Lux players will tend to forget about auto attacking, however this is not a good thing as your passive actually scales really well of your AP, so it is a good chunck of damage which is worthy of including as long as it is a safe choice.
Be careful not to spam your abilities too much, you don't want to be running out of mana extremely quickly. Only poke when you have your manaflow band available again. Your mana will slowly stop becoming an issue once you get Lost Chapters, however late game you may struggle with mana issues again as Luden's Echo only gives +600 max mana, which you will eventually burn up quickly with 40% CDR.
Try to get a kill if at all possible, however try not to push too far into lane and keep atleast one side of your lane warded incase their junglers tries to jump you. Junglers may try to camp mid lane and ruin your flow. If that happens, let the enemy push you into your tower.
Try not to waste your flash, however if you are 100% certain you can get a kill by using it, feel free. A very good trick you can use is to flash when the enemy isn't expecting it, and then unlease your primary combo. This may result in a very dead enemy, especially if you use ignite, however be aware that you will be left without any resources for a very long time after an all-in of this type because both of your summoner spells are gone. Only use this if you really need the kill and think that you will not be needing your flash.
Try to be there when team fights are happening and help your team control objectives like drake and rift herald.
