Introduction

Lux, the Lady of Luminosity

Lux is a super fun mage/ support character. First off, here are some pros and cons

Pros
-Mass AoE damage
-Snare
-Slow
-Long Range Ult
-Nuke
-Good at farming minions

Cons
-Can be hard to play (all of her abilities are skill shots)
-Long CDs
-Squishy
-Mana Dependant (obviously)
-Very slow MS (in my opinion)

As you can see, Lux can be hard to play at first but with patience and practice you can do some serious damage to the opposing team.

Abilities

Lux Abilities:

Illumination
Lux's damaging spells charge the target with energy for 6 seconds. Lux's next attack ignites the energy, dealing 20-190 (depending Lux's level) magic damage to the target.

-May not seem like much but it does lots of dmg early game. It also helps you farm minions mid game
Light Binding
Lux releases a sphere of light that binds and deals 60/110/160/210/260 (+70% ap) damage to up to two enemy units, dealing 50% effect to the 2nd unit struck.

Cooldown 16 / 15 / 14 / 13/ 12 seconds | Cost 60 / 75 / 90/ 105 / 120 mana | Range 1000

-Snares up to 2 champs. Helps with escaping, ganking, chasing and landing an ult

Prismatic Barrier
Lux throws her wand to a target location and back, bending the light around herself and any friendly Champions it touches, protecting them from 50/75/100/125 (+30% ap) damage for 3 seconds.

Cooldown 14 / 13/ 12 / 12 / 10seconds | Cost 75 mana | Range 1000

-Your only support ability. Use during team fights if you aren't too low on mana

Lucent Singularity
Fires an anomaly of twisted light to an area, which slows nearby enemies. Lux can detonate it to damage enemies in the area of effect.

Cost 70 / 85 / 100 / 115 / 130 mana | Range 1100

-A super good AoE Ability. Does lots of dmg. Helps with farming minions, harassing. etc.

Finales Funkeln
After gathering energy, Lux fires a beam of light that deals 300/400/500 (+85% ap) damage to all targets in the area.

Cooldown 80 / 60 / 40 / 30 seconds | Cost 100 / 150 / 200/ 0 mana | Range 3000 / 0

-Lots of range, however it is not worldwide. It reaches from about your mid turret to a little between their 2 mid turrets. Super nuke ability and it can help you land lots of kills. Use in team fights when you can hit almost everyone

Skill Sequence:
I prioritize Lucent Singularity then Light Binding and finally Prismatic Barrier

In this way you can harass super well with Lucent Singularity , then once they get to low ish hp, Light Binding and finish up with Finales Funkeln

Runes

For runes I get:

Flat health quints. In my opinion they are the best quints to have. Of course instead of this Magic pen works as well

Glyphs of Replenishment- This helps with early to late game mana regen. I like to harass a lot so it helps a ton.

Seals of focus- CDR. As a mage you are heavily dependent on cooldowns (obviously) and you can't do much without your abilities

Marks of Magic Pen- Need I explain myself?

Items

Ok. This is your core build:

Majai's Soulstealer Since you have so many AoE abilities you will be not only doing lots of damage but also getting lots of assists. It's not hard to maintain stacks as lux if you are playing her correctly

Ionian Boots of Lucidity You can't do anything when your abilities are on CD so this helps with that. They are the perfect boots for any AP Nuke

Now, here is where you need to being making choices depending on how the game is going:
-If you are doing super well and you have a lot of gold get Rabadon's Deatchcap
-If you are getting hurt/ dying more than you would like get Rylai's Crystal Scepter
-If you feel like you aren't doing enough damage get Void Staff
-If you are doing ok but you feel that you need both AP and HP then get Rod of Ages

Rabadon's Deathcap May be expensive but it gives you more AP than 20 stacks on Mejai's. Plus, it gives you a AP % Bonus. (It's also my fav item)

Rylai's Crystal Scepter Yes you already have a slow but it's only for one ability. And this gives you a nice amount of HP and AP

Void Staff This item is AMAZING! Magic Pen of 40%?!? WIN! That is a crazy amount of Magic Pen and it is really too good to pass up. One of my favorite items and it's not all that expensive, comparably.

Rod of Ages It's a great all around item wether you are doing well or not

Gameplay (Midding)

Lux is a great champ to mid with. In fact, I prefer midding over laning as her.

Early Game:
Normally I would get Doran's Ring but now that they made it more expensive I now get Amplifying Tome and a Health Potion and head mid. Put a point in Lucent Singularity so that you can have some increased scouting off of the bat.
Once minions are there begin harassing and farming with Lucent Singularity You can do both of these at the same time by using your AoE to your advantage. Try to last hit with your passive and just basically play the game. I harass with my Lucent Singularity almost every time it is up but I don't harass with Light Binding so that I can save some mana.
