Traps and invisibility make Teemo a hard match up, as you can't engage as easily without a sweeper.
Soraka
Soraka and other healer supports force you to build oblivion orb early, but this shouldn't be a problem with this E max build.
Sona
Similar to Soraka and other healer supports, Sona or Milio will require a slight veering in itemization, but should still be fine to overpower after one base and oblivion orb.
Lulu
Lulu with her slows, shields and poly morph make her a worthy ban.
Leona
Leona is one of the strongest counters to Shaco support because of her direct, point-and-click crowd control that doesn’t care about stealth. Her E-Q-R combo allows her to engage decisively, locking Shaco down before he can disappear or outplay. Her tankiness makes her resistant to Shaco’s early poke or box cheese, and she thrives in forced all-ins, where Shaco tends to crumble due to his squishiness and reliance on gimmicks.
Nautilus
Nautilus counters Shaco in a similar way, with his passive root and targeted ultimate being extremely effective at locking down slippery champions. He can face-check bushes and soak up box damage without fear, thanks to his naturally high base stats and crowd control. His presence alone deters Shaco from playing aggressively in lane, since any misstep can result in a hook and instant collapse.
Blitzcrank
Blitzcrank is another nightmare for Shaco support. The threat of a single hook forces Shaco to play defensively, which completely removes the pressure and map control he tries to exert. If Blitz hooks Shaco while he's trying to set up boxes or poke, Shaco usually dies instantly due to his low base HP and lack of tank stats. Blitz’s vision control and ability to disrupt positioning with his Q and R make Shaco’s trickery far less effective.
Alistar
Alistar is exceptionally strong into Shaco due to his durability and disruption. His ability to tank through box damage, CC Shaco mid-burst, and peel for his ADC makes him a great counter. Shaco struggles to burst through Alistar’s thick hide, especially when Alistar hits level 6 and gets access to his damage-reducing ultimate. Alistar also doesn’t rely on vision control as much to win lane, giving him a natural edge.
Zyra
haco’s early game hellish by constantly revealing and destroying his Jack-in-the-Boxes with her plants. Her strong poke and zone control make it difficult for Shaco to ever engage without taking significant damage. Since Zyra thrives in bush control and choke points, she essentially turns Shaco’s strongest tools against him. If he tries to engage, she can root and burst him quickly before he gets away.
Brand
Brand is another mage support that punishes Shaco heavily in lane. His AoE abilities not only reveal and clear boxes but also punish Shaco’s positioning when he tries to sneak into the lane. Shaco can’t engage safely against Brand unless the Brand player makes a mistake. Brand also scales far better, contributing enormous AoE damage in teamfights where Shaco’s impact becomes minimal.
Morgana
Morgana completely negates much of Shaco’s engage potential with her Black Shield. The spell shield blocks his fear from boxes and prevents his E from slowing her ADC. Her Q root is also one of the longest in the game, and a single hit can lead to Shaco’s death if he's caught out. Additionally, Morgana’s W can clear boxes and scout bushes, making Shaco’s setups ineffective.
Seraphine
Seraphine offers long-range poke, healing, and powerful AoE CC that makes Shaco’s stealth-based burst hard to execute. Her lane presence is constant, and she can match his harassment while providing more reliable scaling. In teamfights, her ultimate is vastly more impactful, making Shaco feel more like a liability as the game progresses.
Thresh
Thresh is a strong utility support that plays well into Shaco thanks to his ability to flay him out of stealth or interrupt his engage with a lantern save. Thresh’s hook can catch Shaco mid-roam, and his vision control with Sweeper and lantern checks helps deny Shaco his usual tricks. Thresh also scales well and provides useful peel and engage that Shaco cannot easily disrupt.
Rakan
Rakan is a mobile support who can both match Shaco’s roam potential and disrupt him in fights. His W-R combo provides AoE charm and mobility that Shaco can’t easily deal with. While Shaco tries to isolate targets and pick them off, Rakan’s ability to re-engage and protect his backline makes it difficult for Shaco to find good opportunities.
Senna
Senna counters Shaco by keeping him at bay with long-range poke and vision pressure. Her scaling allows her to outvalue Shaco significantly in the mid-to-late game. She can harass from beyond his effective range and use her W root to catch him if he steps out. Her global ultimate and healing also provide more utility and team impact than Shaco can usually offer.
Pyke
Since Pyke is also a stealthy assassin-type support, he can match Shaco in mobility and roaming, but does it with more burst and teamfight execution. Pyke’s hook and dash allow him to catch Shaco when he overextends, and he often comes out ahead in 1v1 trades. If both roam, Pyke usually wins the influence game due to his reset potential and faster map movement. Box placement tells who wins this lane.
Caitlyn
The duo can be incredibly oppressive in the early game, combining high burst damage, strong zoning, and trap-based synergy to dominate the lane. ork well as a zoning/cheese lane. Shaco's boxes can block off enemy paths or force bad movement, and Caitlyn can place traps in tandem with Shaco’s boxes for brutal CC chains. Both champions control bushes well, and Caitlyn’s long range allows her to harass while Shaco sets up ambushes. It’s a lane that punishes poor positioning and bad map awareness.
Draven
AP Shaco support and Draven ADC can actually make for a surprisingly effective and aggressive bot lane duo—though not a traditional pairing, their synergy thrives on early-game pressure, high damage output, and chaotic play making. Draven pairs extremely well with Shaco because Shaco’s early-game presence can snowball Draven’s passive. Shaco's cheese potential and ability to control early bushes give Draven free space to dominate the lane. A surprise fear from a Jack-in-the-Box can give Draven enough time to secure a kill and start stacking gold. If Draven gets ahead early, the lane is often over.
Aphelios
AP Shaco support and Aphelios ADC are not an immediately obvious duo, but they can work well with the right playstyle and communication. Unlike the high-octane aggression of a Draven/Shaco lane, this pairing leans more into zone control, trading windows, and scaling—with AP Shaco helping Aphelios survive early while setting up future kill or disengage potential.
Jhin
AP Shaco support and Jhin ADC make for a surprisingly synergistic and thematic bot lane duo—two theatrical killers who love to control space, manipulate vision, and punish positioning mistakes. While they don't have traditional hard engage or peel, their zoning, burst damage, and setup potential can make for an oppressive lane when played well.
Jhin synergizes with Shaco's surprise burst potential. If Shaco uses his E (slow) and boxes effectively, Jhin can land his W root easily, leading to devastating early trades or kills. Their playstyles both reward setup, traps, and punishing mistakes. Shaco's fear into Jhin’s follow-up is deadly, and their ultimates can both clean up after chaotic skirmishes.
Katarina
Having the double AP in botlane is not ideal, but later in the game when you are shredding magic resist with Malignance and Blood Letters then Kat will love dashing onto someone who had just ran into your traps.
LeBlanc
Similar to Kat and MR Shred Shaco support, LB will love the free dmg to squishies or bruiser tanks in the 20 minute mark (or 10 minutes after Malignance.)
Ashe
This combo is surprisingly effective in the right hands, and while unconventional compared to enchanters or engage supports, it brings a unique blend of poke, zoning, and pick potential to the bot lane. Shaco’s E (Two-Shiv Poison) adds even more poke and can secure slows or executes.
Ezreal
Ezreal is hard to catch thanks to Arcane Shift (E).
Shaco punishes over-aggression with Jack-in-the-Boxes (W) and Two-Shiv Poison (E).
Both champions play at a distance, making the lane safe and slippery.
Lucian
this is a high-aggression, early-game kill lane with a ton of burst damage, lane control, and outplay potential. It plays very differently from Ezreal/Shaco or Ashe/Shaco: here, you're not poking or zoning slowly — you're diving in for the kill.
Kai'Sa
a scaling ADC with hybrid damage paired with a trap-heavy, deceptive support. Unlike Lucian/Shaco (kill lane) or Ezreal/Shaco (poke lane), this duo plays more like a hybrid lane that can poke, punish, or scale, depending on the matchup.
Jinx
a lane that’s deceptively strong, not because of early pressure or poke, but because of how well Shaco can protect Jinx’s scaling and set up chaos for her to thrive in.
Nunu & Willump
Similar to how MR Shred Shaco support can help with breaking down chunkier opponents mid to late game, Nunu players enjoy the ease or not needing to build major AP items to be doing damage after you have set up a fight.
Diana
Similar to how MR Shred Shaco support can help with breaking down chunkier opponents mid to late game, Diana will love the ability to break into your enemies defenses so easily and burst everyone down.
Miss Fortune
Miss Fortune benefits from Shaco’s ability to hold enemies in place or force them into choke points. His boxes can zone enemies into her E (Make It Rain) or even her ultimate. In early 2v2s, Shaco can burst or peel while MF deals massive AoE damage from a safe distance. They also both spike hard in early skirmishes.
Samira
Samira thrives when Shaco goes in. Shaco’s CC (fear or E slow) counts as a knockup-equivalent, allowing Samira to stack her passive and go aggressive. If Shaco baits out enemy cooldowns with a deceptive engage or clone, Samira can follow up with confidence. In lane, Shaco's chaos gives her openings to trade aggressively or clean up.
Vayne
Vayne pairs decently with Shaco when you're looking to play a high-risk, high-reward lane. Shaco can buy her space in the early game by zoning enemies or forcing disengage with boxes. The fear can help line up Vayne’s condemn (E), and Shaco’s clone or invisibility often distracts enemies long enough for Vayne to kite and secure kills. It’s not a dominant early lane but scales well with good coordination.
Twitch
Twitch and Shaco are a sneaky, cheese-heavy duo that focuses on surprise engages. Shaco can set up early pressure, while Twitch scales in the shadows. With good synergy, they can coordinate invisible ganks or 2v2 duels in bushes. As ADC + Shaco, it’s fragile but dangerous if played smart — they thrive on the enemy not having vision.
Karthus
n Karthus bot comps, Shaco support can protect Karthus early by zoning enemies off with boxes and denying all-ins with fear. Later, Shaco’s vision control helps Karthus stay alive and get damage off. It’s not a traditional lane but can work surprisingly well in poke/scale comps that want to survive laning and win in mid-game fights.
Evelynn
In duo queue especially, Shaco support works extremely well with Evelynn jungle. Both excel in stealth, vision denial, and isolating targets. Shaco’s boxes can give Evelynn safer paths into fights, and his early pressure can mask Evelynn’s weak pre-6 game. Together, they create constant pressure and force enemies to overbuy vision — which they can then punish.
Talon
Talon mid and Shaco support can coordinate roams and invade timings. Both are stealthy, bursty, and can collapse on enemies in the jungle with little warning. Shaco can set up traps in the river or enemy jungle to aid Talon’s roams, and if they get ahead early, they dominate the map through picks and vision control.

This build revolves around items that are convenient to build as a support Shaco, who then shreds enemies after two items. The combination of Malignance and Bloodletter’s Curse on AP Shaco support turns them into a deceptively potent damage threat with strong utility in skirmishes and fights. Malignance provides a huge power spike by dealing bonus magic damage to the nearest enemy every time Shaco casts his ultimate, which synergizes perfectly with his clone. Since Shaco can use his R (Hallucinate) both as an engage and disengage tool, Malignance guarantees value whenever a fight starts or turns — adding reliable burst to his kit. In addition, Malignance’s passive cooldown reduction Shaco's ultimate ability, letting Shaco have the opportunity to use Hallucinate again in a shorter amount of time. I normally rush Malignance since the build path is nicer on a thin support budget, and the ultimate cooldown early helps so much lol.
Bloodletter’s Curse, meanwhile, enhances Shaco’s consistent poke and traps by applying stacking magic resist shred on enemies hit by his abilities. Shaco’s W (Jack-in-the-Box) and E (Two-Shiv Poison) both deal magic damage, and his clone can apply these as well, meaning it’s easy for them to start stacking the passive in lane and in fights. Once Shaco lands a few hits, Bloodletter’s passive reduces enemy MR by up to 30%, drastically increasing the effectiveness of his own damage and that of Shaco's AP allies. For a support who thrives on bush control and layered setups, this MR shred means that even short trades can lead to meaningful damage or even lethal burst later in the fight. The item also provides solid ability haste and health, giving Shaco much-needed survivability and more frequent spell use.
Together, this item duo empowers Shaco to function as a roaming disruptor and utility mage, not just a cheesy lane gimmick. Shaco gets the burst and ultimate cooldown she needs from Malignance, and the sustained teamfight value from Bloodletter’s MR reduction. This lets Shaco scale into mid-game teamfights and objective control scenarios where they can prep boxes around choke points, peel or pick with E, and send their clone in to apply pressure and passive damage. Unlike traditional support builds that focus only on utility or durability, this combo turns AP Shaco into a hybrid threat — able to weaken frontline tanks, punish overstepping carries, and soften up targets for the rest of her team to finish. It's a build that leans into Shaco’s deceptive nature while giving them real, scaling impact beyond early game cheese.
I appreciate everyone who has been reading this guide! I've been working on builds for ap shaco support (as well as tank aura yuumi... BE ON THE LOOK OUT!) Please consider supporting me, happy gaming :3
