About Me
Introductions
Greetings! I'm Agent, and I'm a Masters Anivia OTP. I've been one-tricking Anivia since I started league in 2021. I used to play midlane until swapping to support in 2025. This Guide is focused on combos that apply to all lanes, and just general Anivia tips

I've also beaten Caedrel in a ranked game! I just wanted to show it off somewhere xd

Core Trading Concepts without ult
These combos are important to know, but learning
The Objective (before ult)
- Core Goal:
Anivia's trading pattern in the early game is very reliant on using your
AA's. This is because
Anivia has 600 attack range, and AA's help getting in damage without using mana. So the goal is to squeeze in as many of them as possible. (Try practicing AA'ing in between every ability cast)
- Second Goal: If
Anivia can't harass with
AA's (often due to range disadvantage), we swap over to a "quick trade" style, trading with abilities quickly and backing off. This means using singular
AA's, "E Poke" when the enemy is distracted or can't hit back, and "Pre6 - Short Trade" or "Wall Catch" to punish their last-hits
Key Patterns
- Correct start: Starting each trade with
AA, is almost always correct, unless heavily outranged.
When to trade
- Prioritize CS: CS is more important than damage, so generally don't start a trade if you have to sacrifice minions for it.
- Runes: Runes are a big part of the early game. If you're running
Electrocute, try to trade when it's up. This lets you spend less mana per damage (similar to
aa's), and overall increases the chances of you winning the trade.
- Scaling: In a lot of cases, in hard matchups, try not to trade equal HP with the opponent. Instead, farm and wait until you get level 6 and a few mana components like
Lost Chapter,
Catalyst of Aeons, or
Tear of the Goddess, as this boosts your trading strength by a lot.
Now let's talk some early game combos
|
◆◆◆◆◆ ◆ EASY ◆ // MEDIUM // HARD
|
❄️ Pre6 - Short Trade ❄️ (AA) ➔ Q ➔ AA ➔ E This is a great trade into most matchups, and is the standard early-game trade. This trade is very difficult for the opponent to trade back into due to its speed and efficiency |
|
❄️ Pre6 - Long trade ❄️
AA ➔ E ➔ AA ➔ AA ➔ Q ➔ AA ➔ E ➔ AA This is a good all-in combo in the early game. We start with AA > E > AA, then use another AA to wait out 💡 Tip: In some matchups, it's better to hold |
◆◆◆◆◆ ◆ EASY ◆ // MEDIUM // HARD
|
|
◆◆◆◆◆ EASY // ◆ MEDIUM ◆ // HARD
|
❄️ Wall Catch ❄️ Q ➔ W ➔ E ➔ (AA) This combo has really high range, and can catch the enemy by surprise. It does consume a lot of mana, meaning in the early game, only use it if you see a kill angle. 💡 Tip: This trade remains viable throughout the entire game due to its catch potential |
Post level 6 Trading Concepts
Even if you can't remember the exact order of the combos, as long as you know these core concepts, you can freestyle a lot more, even invent combos on the spot. So try to remember these guidelines.
The Objective
- Core Goal: Trading as
Anivia is all about maximizing the amount of Empowered
Frostbite's you can hit in a single rotation. Every trade should be centered around keeping your target Chilled.
Usually every use of
Flash Frost or
Crystallize should result in an Empowered
Frostbite
Key Patterns
- Use
Flash Frost for uptime: Using it a few seconds after they step out of your
Glacial Storm increases your Chilled uptime, making it easier to land more Empowered
Frostbites.
- The "Fishing" concept: Because
Glacial Storm has a low cooldown, it is often up when your other cooldowns aren't. You can use this time to "fish" by placing it on an opponent, then staying just outside their reach while waiting for
Frostbite or
Flash Frost to refresh, then re-engage once your cooldowns are back up. (
Crystallize can also be used to let you keep them in your ult and stall for longer)
- Free
Frostbite: Sometimes when using
Glacial Storm, the opponent doesn't walk out of it in time, this allows you to land an Empowered
Frostbite for free without investing any other cooldowns. This can happen in any ult-combo and can drastically increase your damage. (Example of this in Peel/Catch combo, and the foundation of the Infinity combo)
- AA's: At this stage of the game,
AA's are not always correct. Sometimes you will have to simplify your combo and drop autos to disengage faster from a trade or use the time to get a better position to land abilities.
When to trade
- Prioritize CS: CS is more important than damage, so generally don't start a trade if you have to sacrifice minions for it.
- Manacost:
Anivia is a mana-hungry champion, so trading too much early can leave you out of mana, having to recall and
Teleport back. So, only take trades that you think are worth the "mana to damage dealt" ratio
New Guide Symbols:

P.S It's also worth noting that I've not filled in all possible AA's in these upcoming combos due to their already long length. And me wanting to keep this guide relatively simple. So feel free to improvise and add AA's where needed

Sometimes when using Basically: If you don't have to use 💡 Note: This combo requires some ability haste, or enough points into Q to make it come up in time. In the clip, I have 45AH and 2 levels Q (6.9s CD). Which would not have been enough to pull off the combo if Darius hadn't misstepped. So higher level in Q recommended |
Flash Combos!
Anivia's best flash combos are very simple. But I've also included some more mechanical combos for the people who enjoy a challenge. But in terms of improvement, stick to the Easier combos and invest time into learning matchups, or when to hold

Concepts
- Delayed
Flash Frost: How to take advantage of not activating it immediately
- Spellshield Negation: How to completely negate spellshields like
Shroud of Darkness
- How to counter
Flash Frost: Its important to know your weaknesses aswell.
The basics of
Flash Frost:
- Core Idea:
Flash Frost is your primary tool for both engaging and disengaging. Because it is your most important ability, try to avoid leading with it unless you have a guaranteed hit.
Start your trades with other abilities first; the longer you hold your
Flash Frost during a trade, the more pressure you exert on your opponent. Just make sure to actually use it, and not hold it for the entire trade.
- Anti engage-tool: Into some matchups (especially engage-heavy champions like
Talon), holding
Flash Frost until they use their engage tool is often better. As this allows you to play more aggressively with your
AA's and other cooldowns
- Annoying matchup trick: Usually matchups like
Pantheon can stun you out of
Glacial Storm everytime you go for a
Frostbite. To work around this we can throw
Flash Frost right before going in for the trade, to keep them stunned while we go for our
Frostbite. Then we can back off and "Fish" with
Crystallize

- Dash block: How to completely stop dashes
- Trapping: Use your wall to trap your opponent
- Wave management: Use your wall to manipulate the wave
The basics of
Crystallize:
- Core Idea:
Crystallize is
Anivia's most unique spell, and a big part of her identity.
Crystallize is best used as a way to keep your opponent inside of your
Glacial Storm, but in big teamfights, it is better to use it to split the enemy team or completely prevent them from entering.
- Ability blocking: Since
Crystallize is terrain, it can completely shut down some abilities. Noteworthy mentions include:
Biggest Snowball Ever!,
Dredge Line, and
Unstoppable Onslaught

- Proper AA Animation: Casting AA's faster
The basics of
Frostbite:
- Core Idea:
Frostbite is a pretty simple spell. Just know that this is your main damage source, and try to land as many Empowered
Frostbites per combo as possible
- Farming:
Frostbite can and should be used on CS'ing if you know you won't be able to last hit in time because your
AA is on cooldown
- Chilled effect: Chilled lasts for 3 seconds, meaning after you stun with
Flash Frost or after they walk OUT of your
Glacial Storm, you have 3 seconds to land
Frostbite.

- Ult Recast: Your ultimate can be recast to deal an extra tick of damage,
The basics of
Glacial Storm:
- Core Idea:
- Slow scaling: Your
Flash Frost's slow actually scales of
Glacial Storm level. So: (20%, 30% 40%) depending on level.
- Waveclear: Your
Glacial Storm is your main form of wave clear. and you should optimally only be using
Glacial Storm +
AA's to kill waves. This is very mana efficient compared to clear speed. (Exception:
Frostbite is fine to use on cannon minions, due to their higher HP. This also lets you cancel ult earlier)
|
❄️ Ult Recast ❄️
.This trick is mainly used for last-hitting CS. You can re-activate R while recalling to reliably lasthit cannon while backing. |
Welcome to the breakdown of
Concepts
- Egg Teleport: Teleporting using Egg
The basics of
Rebirth:
- Core Idea:
Rebirth is best used in teamfights, or against champions with inconsistent damage. (Damage on abilities with long cooldowns). In the early game, try to think about where to die while still being safe. If you don't have
Teleport and you're 10HP, it can sometimes be better to let the opponent proc your passive at a safe location to get pressure back in lane.
- Jungle Bait: If your jungler is coming to gank and you're low, you can often bait the opponent into engaging on you. In higher elo, you can fake failing
Flash Frost by throwing it out carelessly, which sometimes makes the enemy step up aggressive thinking they can flash outplay, etc. Or maybe all-in in response.
If possible, it's generally better to save
Flash Frost until you get the gank tho
