Introduction

I've played many games with Master Yi, and since I'm starting to get into different champions, I decided I'd post my build. It has never failed me, and other than in extremem situations, this is the build I will always go with as Master Yi, in 3v3 at least. I don't play 5v5 very often, but when I do I might go with a build that had a little more laning capabilities. Always remember that there is no "best build," it is always player preference. But I hope that this guide will help everyone trying to play Master Yi.

Masteries

Some people choose defensive masteries for their build, but I don't feel that it is necessary. Master Yi is an amazing champion for getting out of sticky situations. Not only is he fast already, but his ultimate makes him faster and makes him immune to many disables. Add Youmuu's Ghostblade to that and you can get out of almost anything. So I build him with offense, that way, you can hit like a truckj and if you have to, ulti/Youmuu's and get away.

Skill Sequence

I consider Alpha Strike more of a dive than anything else. What I usually do when I want to engage or I am following my team for an engage is very simple. I start by using Wuju Style and Alpha Strike my kill target. When they run or when I need it to survive/speedkill, I will use Highlander. Other than that, it's just auto-attacks all the way. Meditate is great for laning so that you don't have to recall, but I consider it to be the least important ability of Master Yi.

Farming

When you farm, don't just blindly hit. Get a feel for how hard you usually hit a minion and do your best to get every single last hit you can. The money adds up extremely fast. I've had many games where I only focused on farming minions and by the end I was triple killing the opposing team easily.

Team Work

As Master Yi, you never want to engage unless you are EXTREMELY fed. Remember that Yi is quite squishy. Just remember that in team fights, try to time Highlander in a way that you kill someone with it on, the cooldown reset is a huge advantage.

Unique Skills

This build has a very nice amount of life steal, along with heavy AD. This is great for killing squishies, but you never want to focus a tank first. Armor will destroy you. Always keep up on the other team's items and know how the champions they play work. Then, gank accordingly. Characters that are perfect targets for Yi include but are not limited to: Heimerdinger, Morgana, Brand, LeBlanc, Ezreal. And be careful about Thornmail. I can't stress this enough. There is a reason why they make you buy Thornmail in the first LoL tutorial and then make you play against Yi. Just keep it in mind

Pros / Cons

Pros:
- Extremely Fast
- Q ability make him immune to everything for a short amount of time, and can be used to jump out of combat.
- Hits hard
- Great ganker
- If played right, you have plenty of cooldown resets
Cons:
- Squishy
- If your ultimate is on cooldown, you are very susceptible to snares.
- Require care and precision early game.
- Bad for engaging team fights
- Relies mostly on basic attacks, which means champions with high armor can easily counter you.
