Not Updated For Current Season
This guide has not yet been updated for the current season. Please keep this in mind while reading. You can see the most recently updated guides on the browse guides page
She's bound to go into your Unraveled Earth if she goes aggressive. Use your Threaded Volley to carefully poke her down and if you're feeling risky, walk up to her and Unraveled Earth + Seismic Shove her. Do not let her harass you or your rocks will be out traded by a fox.
Akali
Easy to deal with early, somewhat easy to deal with post 6. Unraveled Earth with mess with her day if you can predict when she'll go on you. If she jumps on you, fear not! Just Unraveled Earth underneath her, and Seismic Shove her away. She'll have to waste another charge of her ult and take damage from your mines. Poke her down.
Anivia
A good Cryobirdie will be tough. She outranges you, with her Flash Frost. If the stun hits you, expect to take a chunk of HP from Frostbite. Carefully Poke her down but do not push too hard, or else you'll be a sitting duck to ganks. Try to get the edge over her with your Unraveled Earth + Seismic Shove combo, pelting her with your Threaded Volley, since she is immobile. Be careful, and ask for ganks whenever, or farm carefully.
Annie
The Dark Child is known for being scary post 6. Taliyah is no exception to her burst! Poke her with Threaded Volley early on, and since she is immobile as well, levels 1-5 will be a cakewalk if you hit your combo. Post 6, play carefully. Look at her pyromania stacks and play accordingly.
Aurelion Sol
Our beloved Booper. He's somewhat like you, a kite champion, a teamfight champion. He sometimes will play safe, sometimes be pesky with stars. Hit your combo on him and he will be at your mercy. If you miss Seismic shove and he's in your sights, try to weave into his inner circle and Threaded Volley the poor Booper.
Azir
Oh Boy. Azir is an early game MENACE. His soldiers will poke you a ton if you let him. Farm, farm farm! He also scales like an avalanche, so coordinate with your jungler to either kill him or roam to other lanes. If you must take your chances with the birdman, try to poke him early, level 1, and keep the pressure until he's starting to hurt you too much.
Brand
It's been a while since I've seen Brand mid. Nonetheless, stoneweave around his Pillar of Flame. Worked Ground will be easier to do this if you try and poke him early on. His immobility can lead to some easy combos on him.
Cassiopeia
Immobile as well. Dodge her Poison, and combo the slithery snek. when she hits you with her Q, try not to trade with her or else she will win.
Cho'Gath
Annoying pest. His silence will mess you up. If you're hit with his rupture, prepare to take damage and not be able to do anything. His passive will slowly mitigate your poke if you're not keeping up the pressure. Be annoying and hit and run, and try not to get hit by Feral Scream. You'll instantly lose trades.
Diana
Similar to Akali, except dodge her Qs. Her ult is different, if you are hit by moonlight, play safe. Your Unraveled Earth will not get proc'd by her ult. (I think?)
Irelia
ABORT THIS MISSION IMMEDIATELY. With Irelia's state right now, Trinity Force is BUSTED on Irelia. Irelia mid is a thing, and if you take your chances with her, BEWARE! Her Q can proc Unraveled Earth, but if she is smart and dashes to a minion, dashes to you, and stuns you, she has her way with you and this is what we call a CLOWN FIESTA. Get help from Jungler. NERF IRELIA RITO.
Karma
An annoying fly. Her E will make it hard for you to hit Threaded Volley. Most Karmas will make this a farm lane. Since she's technically immobile, try to hit your combo on her and she'll suffer. Dodge her Q's, however. They hurt.
Karthus
Eaaaaasy. As long as you're not hit by his Lay Wastes, you'll crush him underfoot. Smack his poor dead rock'n'roll body with Threaded Volley, combo him into the air, and watch the gold stream in.
Kassadin
This is a different matchup. He mitigates several portions of your damage. Levels 1-5, walk all over him. Poke him and try to take minimal poke in response. Post 6, be careful. Try to predict when he will Voidwalk and combo accordingly. Buy an Abyssal.
Katarina
Borderline 1. Kat can't do anything to Taliyah. If she shunpo's to you and you've wasted all your spells, next time only Threaded Volley her and wait for her to shunpo until you combo.
LeBlanc
UGH. LeBlanc. Bane of all mid laners. Taliyah can get smothered by LeBlanc if the player is not careful. Try and poke her down like normal, but try to predict her Distortion and combo accordingly as normal. If you can get Unraveled Earth off on the minion wave while she farms, she cannot trade with you. Once the mines disappear, play careful. You have no defense except your hard to hit Seismic Shove. Buy an Abyssal.
Lissandra
Lissandra is surprisingly tough. She can poke you down similarly, and if you try to get in her face she will punch you back to kingdom come and make your lane a clown fiesta. Buy an Abyssal Scepter and try not to get ulted by her.
Lulu
It exists. Lulu mid is still a thing. You go even with her in terms of annoying, but unlike you, she doesn't have limits on her abilities like Threaded Volley. Manage your Worked Ground carefully and poke her, while dodging Glitterlance. Unraveled Earth + Seismic Shove will ruin her day.
Lux
My dear, dear Lux. She can poke you down with Lucent Singularity, so be unpredictable with your movement. The same is applied with poking, else she binds you and you lose the trade. If she does bind you, try and combo her, since she has to stand still to auto attack the mark. If you miss, then focus on dodging her spells since they hurt early game. Post 6, getting hit with binding is suicide, so play carefully.
Malzahar
I cannot give too much info on Malzahar, since he seems to be always banned. If you're against him, abuse his immobility but try not to stand next to the waves due to Space Disease. It hurts tremendously if he maxes it. Buy an Abyssal scepter if you're having trouble, but try not to get in range too often for his 100-0 blarlgalwg combo.
Morgana
Black Shield will be a pest. Smother her with Threaded Volley, and if she uses Black Shield on you, continue the assault of Threaded Volleys while dodging her Dark Bindings, since getting hit will end up with a sad Taliyah. Combo Morgana once the shield wears. If she ults you, either try to kill her or flash out of range. You can't do much once you're stunned.
Malphite
UUUUUUGGGGGGGGH. Mid AP Malphite can happen, but MY GOSH is it obnoxious if you run into it. He will poke you with his Q's, and if you don't retaliate, he will poke you down and when the reckoning comes called level 6, he will show you what a rock is and you don't want that. Follow the normal 'poke, combo when you can' but try not to go too hard in the paint. Buy an Abyssal.
Orianna
Similar to Lux. It is a skill matchup whether you can predict and dodge the Ball or else you're in for a rough time. She's mana hungry if she spams her Q+W combo, so go on the offensive once she either is without a ball, or without mana. Be sneaky.
Ryze
Poke him down early on. His damage is quite sad unless you let him snare you with his passive up. obtain a hit and run style of gameplay with Threaded Volley. Since he is immobile, Seismic Shove will not be too hard to hit. Do not let him catch you with his passive about hit proc. Watch his runes around his feet.
Swain
Another one of the banned champions like Malzahar, I don't get to see him too often. From what I see, he gets very tanky and if he nevermoves you, prepare to hear 'YOU HAVE BEEN SLAIN.' His damage is strong but his sustain game is strong as well. Threaded Volley his limp early and he and Beatrice just kinda. plop
Syndra
A close ranged burst mage. Like you, she's close ranged as well. She is tough, since you have to focus on dodging balls while simultaneously dodging her E. If you get stunned by her E, her damage will destroy you. Level 6 will be scary for you so farm safely until ganks. Roam if you see a chance.
Taliyah
S K I L L.
Dodge each others spells. Move diagonally away from her Threaded Volley and she won't be able to hit you. Be unpredictable, since you, as Taliyah as well, are pretty immobile. Dodge her Seismic Shove and don't get too close for her Unraveled Earth to hit you.
Talon
Haven't seen one too recently unless you're Vapora Dark. Similar to Katarina except deadlier, wait for his E to go onto you and assault him with your combo. Poking him can be a challenge without getting in retaliation a Rake from him, so abuse your range over him.
Twisted Fate
Rather immobile. Don't get hit by stray cards, and do not try to poke him unless you know his Pick a Card is on cooldown. Don't get hit by stray cards, and Seismic Shove him into your scary mines of doom. Try to roam with him once he hits 6. Like you, he can roam well.
Veigar
Booooo. He can hit hard once he starts stacking. Don't let him have the chance and be an oppressive rock thrower. Pelt him with rocks when you can, and try to not get caught in his cage of sadness.
Yasuo
If you're like me, you probably tilt off the face of the earth if you see Yasuo dashing all over the place in lane. Take a passive approach. Combo'ing will be very difficult so place Unraveled Earth over the minion wave. If he dashes, he will dash into it and take some fat damage. Use Seismic Shove as a defensive ability.
Zed
Ewwwwwww. Like Yasuo, he's annoying and pokey. If you can't dodge his shurikens, prepare for a clown fiesta because you will lose the lane. Level 6, you have to play passive or else you risk getting Death Marked to death. Take a supremely passive approach to Zed once he hits level 6 unless he's 0/5/0.
Ziggs
"OMG, why not play Ziggs over Taliyah?" Ziggs fell off once the tank meta hit. His range will mess you up if you get hit by a bouncing bomb. He has similar zoning like you, so play around his skills and try to hit him with your combo. Your combo is scary.
Zyra
Buuuuusted. Zyra is really strong right now. Her passive will make her spawn seeds randomly and suddenly your lane will be flooded with plants that will poke you to death before you can even reach Zyra. Unless you can get a surprise Unraveled Earth + Seismic Shove combo on her, your only hope is to wait out her plants, which probably won't happen.
