What can I say… just fight to stay alive, not to win. Let her take 2 CS while you farm with Q — don’t try to poke her out.

Yuumi
The only champion that can keep up with Zed’s mobility and provide him healing and shields in the middle of a fight.

Champion Build Guide
I’ve been playing Zed for many years and have dedicated most of that time to mastering him. Two years ago, I managed to reach Emerald playing Zed in the mid lane, which was a big milestone for me.
After that, I took a break from League for about a year. When I came back, my schedule had changed and I could only play on weekends, so I decided to create a new account and challenge myself to climb again under those conditions.
While climbing, I talked to many players across different ranks and asked a lot of questions about Zed, mid lane, and solo queue in general. I did this to better understand the most common problems and mistakes lower-ranked players struggle with.
This guide is made to cover everything I wish I had known earlier — from matchups and builds to decision-making and mindset — all explained in a clear and practical way for players who want to improve with Zed.
Zed is my favorite classic assassin in League of Legends.
He’s amazing at taking a single champion out of a fight, but he loses a lot of his power once Death Mark is on cooldown.
I made this guide partly out of boredom and partly because my friend wanted to learn Zed. I won’t write about his spells — it’s nonsense in my opinion, since everything is already clearly explained in-game.
No mana issue
surprisingly a lot of AoE damage
A lot of mobilty
1v9 Potential
Good Teamfighter
High burst
Short rang
Weak early game
Full AD Teams
Vulnerable to CC & squishy
Need to Land Skillshots
At level 1, you'll unlock Razor Shuriken(q) and begin poking the enemy as well as last hitting minions if you can't auto-attack the minion. The best time to throw your Razor Shuriken is when the enemy is not behind minions and when they are attacking minions as they stand still while auto-attacking.
At level 2, you'll unlock Living Shadow(w) if you are pushed up in case of a level 2 gank or to try to land 2 shurikens at the enemy if the angle is available. If you are being pushed into, you'll unlock Shadow Slash(e) so you can farm creeps under the turret a lot easier.
At level 3, you'll unlock your last ability to perform the simple harass combo. If the enemy is under 50% hp, you can land a simple harass combo and kill them with Contempt for the Weak while using Ignite.
Before reaching level 6, you will need to track how many minions you will need for XP to reach level 6. This is significant because you can surprise the enemy with a triple q combo as soon as you reach level 6. If the enemy doesn't allow this, you will have to look for a kill during a roam, as shoving the lane mid will be easy with level 6 pressure.
The best lane to roam to is the bot lane as the ADC and SUPPORT will be both easy to kill as they are behind in levels. This doesn't mean disregarding the top lane, if the top laner doesn't have summoner spells or ultimate, you can kill them easily.
MID GAME INTO LATE GAME
During mid-game, you usually want to switch with bot lane and split. This is important as this will help you transition into the late game with a really good build! Many champions can't side lane against a Zed as this champion has a strong potential of winning 1v1s. If you can catch side waves and kill the enemy in the side lane when appropriate, you will be really fed!
TEAM FIGHTING
Never start teamfight, you are an assassin your job is to kill ADC even at cost of your own life, you need to wait for teamfight to begin then flank enemy team, if this is not an option you can ult tank and then use your W to postion your self on adc(use that only when you are sure you can burst him down without r). IT IS IMPORTANT TO WATCH YOUR SHADOWS AT ALL TIMES!shadows are your main source of mobilty and dmg u
I also plan to add videos showing combos, highlights, and gameplay examples to make it easier to understand how to play Zed effectively in different situations.
In the future, I might even create another guide — this time focused on Jungle Zed, including tips for pathing, matchups, and ganking strategies.
My goal is to make this guide as practical and helpful as possible, whether you’re new to Zed or looking to improve your mechanics, decision-making, and overall gameplay.
I’ll also share tricks and insights I’ve learned from playing against many, so you can understand not just how to play Zed, but how to play him smartly in solo queue.
