Introduction to the guide
Hey guys! This is my first guide on Moba, so feel free to leave a rating (good or bad, it's fine to me), as it will show me how good I am or how I could improve on making a guide. A comment isn't too bad either! Also: If any one can tell me how to add picture, that would be the best thing ever!
Pantheon has always been my go-to champion if i'm ever on a losing streak, but of course this build isn't for everybody and I will never guarantee a win with any champion, and especially not my favorite Spartan bad-*** here, so without further ado, here is how I play pantheon!
Another tip is to not complete your Banshee's Veil unless it's completely necessary. Sitting on one of the Health or Mana Crystals can help you save some cash for some of the bigger damage items. It might seems like durability is the better way to go, and I'm not saying it is not, but if you want to stack some kills, you're going to have to skimp off durability and PLAY SMART! You should only be straining for gold if you're not very good at last hitting (which shouldn't happen because of Panth's Heartseeker Strike passive).
1. Extremely high burst damage with with his combo of skills
2. Good at team fights with ulti
3. Because of your Heartseeker Strike's passive, it is not to hard to last hit/farm early game
4. Your Aegis of Zeonia stun is amazing at chasing enemies down or helping out a teammate escape
5. His Heartseeker Strike scales EXTREMELY well with AD
Cons.
1. Kind of squishy early to mid game without items
2. After your spell combo, have to wait around for your cooldowns
3. Targeted if fed, and Pantheon has to stay in melee range to do well
4. No escapes except summoner spells
Greater Seal of Scaling Mana Regeneration: Mana starved a bit in the early game, but will even out mid to late game. Helps out with harass and with your combo.
Greater Glyph of Cooldown Reduction: Your Heartseeker Strike and your Aegis of Zeonia have high cooldown times all game, so it is necessary for the cooldown reduction as well as the Brutalizer into Yommuu's.
Standard masteries for 21 offence
Standard masteries for 9 defense, expect 1 point off of strength of spirit
1 in Utility for the Haste
Ghost: See Flash.
Alternatives
Exhaust: If you want to be more aggressive, be my guest. Exhaust is good at chasing enemies, on a 1v1, or even at escaping occasionally. Even I used it before I switched to Flash-Ghost.
Ignite: Almost the exact same as exhaust. I always got angry at the guys with that little sliver of health and no spell to take him out. Ignite can take away that rage very nicely. I myself am not a fan of ignite, but if it fits your playstyle, go right ahead!
Cleanse: Rage at a lot of Crowd Control? Cleanse is your answer! Amazing at escapes, plus Flash or Ghost, and you are set!
Heal/ Clarity: Not much a fan of these spells, but for the lower level players, this is a good bet for pantheon so that he survives a bit better early game
Every summoner spell besides these spells are not useful when put on my build, because it either does not fit or is never a good spell to get.
In the beginning, start out with a Doran's Blade. Because of your lack of health from runes, the 100 health is great on Pantheon. Last hitting is also very important, as it helps you get your items faster and earlier so that they are more effective. If you are a lower level player, last hitting isn't as important to a level 5 summoner than perhaps to a level 25 or 30 summoner.
After level 6, or if you are low on mana/health, port back to base to get Boots and another Doran's Blade. IMPORTANT: BOOTS ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN DORAN'S BLADE! If you have only enough money for one or the other, choose boots, as movement speed is better than the extra damage to survive ganks and aggressive moves against you.
Grab The Brutalizer once you have enough money, and from there, it's mostly situational items:
The Banshee's Veil is great for that extra HP/MP as well as the magic resist AND the spell shield. If you're not fighting too many AP champions, you can again get whatever you think is best for the time IMPORTANT! Health is ESSENTIAL on mid to late game pantheon. He will get focused and will die easily if you don't have enough survivability.
Frozen Mallet and Bloodthirster are both very offensive heavy items. Even if you're not doing too great, both these items can really pick you back up late game. With the Bloodthirster, it's very important to get stacks. The Frozen Mallet, again, is for that essential health I mentioned moments ago.
"Why shouldn't we get a Last Whisper?" Because we already have enough ******** armor penetration from runes and Yoummuu's Ghostblade.
Some things you should NEVER get on Pantheon:
Heavy armor items: You should never need these unless you are a tank...WHICH YOU ARE NOT A TANK.
Ability Power: None of his damaging abilities scale on ability power, making it USELESS.
Early to mid game heavy lifesteal: You should also never need this.
Regen items: Again, mostly tank stuff for health regen and mostly mage stuff for mana regen. YOU ARE NEITHER A TANK NOR A MAGE.
Relatively short summary:
Early game:
Doran's Blade X2
Boots (BEFORE 2ND DORAN'S B.)
Mercury's Treads
Mid game:
The Brutalizer
Banshee's Veil (Survivability)
Late Game:
Frozen Mallet (Heavily Offensive)
Bloodthirster (See Frozen Mallet)
Yoummu's Ghostblade (Upgrade Brutalizer)
Most of your damage comes from your Heartseeker Strike, so that's why you max it first.
Your Aegis of Zeonia does not have a very good stun to max early game, so put one point into it and max it after heartseeker.
I didn't really know about base damage on Spear Shot, and although not as useful as Aegis, I decided to alternate the skill points between Spear Shot and Aegis of Zeonia.
Treat your ultimate ( Grand Skyfall) like any other, and put points into it on level 6, level 11, and level 16.
If it wasn't clear enough in my Pro/Con section, your main source of damage will be this:
Q->W->E->Q.
Detailed:
A quick Spear Shot in the beginning to put out some damage, because at the end the spear shot will have cooled down. Your Aegis of Zeonia will make you leap at your target as well as stunning him, putting you into melee range. Quickly use your Heartseeker Strike so you can maximize your damage, because ever since the Aegis nerf, people are able to escape out of the full Heartseeker. By that time, they should have taken a lot of damage, so we just throw a spear shot at them for kicks or to get that last sliver of health if they survived. This combo can easily take out chunk of health from squishies very early in the game, and also do some considerable damage to some tanks early game as well.
IT IS IMPORTANT TO LAST HIT. That's pretty much most of the early game. If you want to get that early kill, be my guest.
Pay more attention if you are soloing a lane because of a jungler, pantheon can't get a kill if he is 2v1 in a lane unless they are bad at harassing you and you have been harassing them.
Check your mana very carefully when you use spells. Remember that you need at least 140 mana to use your Heartseeker and Aegis combo, and at least 185 if you want to throw in a spear shot. Also factor in that you need at least level 3 to get your combo up, and that you get a chunk of mana back every time you level up.
Mid Game
Start helping out your teammates with ganks. Search for opportunities to gank squishy targets. Most of all, farm! You are basically useless in a team fight if you can't keep up in terms of items and experience, so keep on farming like a champ!
Late Game
By now, your team should be doing alright or even winning if you do well as well as your teammates doing well. Although you probably have a lot of heatlh, don't go charging in, because you will get focused. Always try to organize your team to isolate the opposing carry or squishy champions. NEVER focus the tank first, because then you will lose the team fight!
THEIR ULTI'S HAVE BEEN NERFED AND GIVEN A ****ING RANGE.
TF I can understand, his pushing power with that move is very good, and I've seen many TF users just punish the other team and get away scotch free...
Pantheon?! Anyone please comment on my build WHY THIS WAS A JUSTIFIABLE CHANGE! Pantheon cannot push a lane so hard that it punishes the other team, and I nor probably any of you have ever seen a backdooring Panth ever be successful because of his nuances in the game. Please correct me if i'm wrong, but UGHHHHHHH I just hated Riot after that. Panth better be getting some good buffs in the future, or 1 head will roll...and his name rhymes with porello...
