Runes

Lethal Tempo

Lethal Tempo has so much benefit to Kayle. Every time you damage a champ, your next auto attacks will have increased attack speed and since Kayle's primary source of damage come from her strong scaling passive damage and E damage - this is a GO TO rune for her. You can also go Conqueror but since we prioritze getting a Hextech Gunblade the healing we gain from Conq is minimal compared to the damage bonus of Lethal Tempo.
The beautiful thing about Kayle is that her E, Starfire Spellblade counts as both an ability and then auto attack reset. So poking the enemy and resetting your auto attack with a Quick E will make her attack feel very fluid as you're waiting for your lethal tempo buff to come through. At level 6 this becomes even easier because as of 9.17 you get ranged auto attacks at level 6! This allows you to use your Celestial Blessing to quickly approach the enemy, auto twice, and quickly escape! Coming out of laning phase you will likely be some CS behind your enemy laner, but never fear for you are a scaling monster! Late game is yours!
Triumph is our go to choice here as has great benefit in skirmishes and teamfights alike. Secondary to Triumph, Overheal can be considered. If you are rushing Hextech Gunblade you will begin healing quite a bit from any source of damage you put out there and will be able to take advantage of the shield.
Who doesn't like getting free attack speed? The attack speed cap is set at 2.5 attacks per second but that is still a long way off and nothing for you to worry about because your brought Lethal Tempo
If you are taking Overheal please do not go Last Stand. Kayle can make use of Last Stand similarly to Tryndamere. She can make herself invulnerable when she gets low and at level 16 she has 3 seconds to dish out as much devistation as possible thanks to her Divine Judgment.
Pros and Cons
PROS

+ Can 1v9 carry late game
+ Utility in teamfights
+ Built in sustain
+ Synergies with many tank junglers
+ Rarely banned
+ Can come back into the game with built in powerspikes

Kayle is incredibly fun to play, and makes up for her weak early game with an incredibly powerful late game. When games get longer than 30 minutes Kayle has the #1 win rate in the game. Never give up, you can always turn the game around! Try your hardest to keep your team positive and force the late game, you can win the game for your team even if your ADC or Mid lane are far behind.
CONS

- Immobile aside from her W
- Weak against all-in champs early
- Can save a key teammate or herself with R, but not both!
- Very squishy through the game
- Can be counterpicked
- You can't get Silver Kayle anymore T-T

Many meta top laners will absolutely dominate Kayle in the early game, this could allow them to snowball out of control. You must show exceptional patience when playing Kayle. Your goal is to get to your powerspikes, levels 6, 11, and 16 without giving the enemy too much free gold. This takes great discipline and a lot of backing early at times.
Gameplay

EARLY GAME
Play it Safe

Kayle struggles early and can easily be taken advantage of. It is no surprise that people don't view Kayle as anything more than a minion until level 11, but with the 9.17 mini rework, Kayle now gets her ranged attacks at level 6!! This makes the early game less painful, but you still must be very cautious. I find that if you are even in farm, or even 20-30 CS behind your enemy laner, you are doing well, besides, your late game will definitely make up that difference!

Learn how to manipulate the waves as Kayle. If you get the opportunity, try and freeze the wave so you don't have to overextend to get CS. There is nothing better as Kayle than to force the enemy to play aggressive, then your jungler swoops in, helps you get a kill, and then laning phase suddenly becomes much easier for you!

Never underestimate superior vision. Get control wards early and often, Kayle will get deleted by a well executed gank or tower dive. Place strategic wards that will let you know when it is time to back off.

Your Q Radiant Blast is a fantastic poking tool especially with the recent rework to make it refund 50% of its mana cost for each enemy champion hit!

Use your ult wisely! When you know the enemy is about to unload a large amount of damage on you, such as Lux or Kled be ready to use your ult to mitigate that damage and turn the fight around!

MID GAME
Push toward your powerspikes!

Look to split push a bit until you have reached level 11 or completed a couple of items, you still will be a bit weak pre 11, but if you can gain a couple of quick levels by split pushing you will quickly take over the game.

In early game team fights your Ultimate Divine Judgment can absolutely turn the fight in your favor. Remember that your E Starfire Spellblade deals bonus damage based on the enemy missing health, so don't initiate with it, secure kills with it! Your Q Radiant Blast is great for shredding resistances on key targets, but it can effect multiple targets at once! So aim it into a group and watch you and your team melt the enemies!

LATE GAME
The Promised Land

Time to Shine! You have made it! It is seldom that a 30+ minute game ends in a loss for Kayle. By this time you should have your build mostly if not entirely complete, you can 1v1 just about any enemy, and if a squishy target looks at you wrong, you can delete them in about 1 second. Don't forget that your Divine Judgment duration scales with level. When you have allocated 3 skill points into her R, the invulnerability lasts for 3 seconds, while the cast time remains at 1.5 seconds. Therefor, you can attack without fear of damage for 1.5 seconds, and as a level 16+ Kayle, that could spell disaster for the enemies!

Summary

Thank you for taking the time to read my guide! I hope that even Kayle veterans can appreciate this guide and hopefully there were little gems of information that everyone came away with from it. Kayle has changed so much over the last year and many people are re-learning this wonderful champion. Please check out the notes for the item builds and runes as there is more information tucked away in there.
Over time I hope to add more to the guide to keep it relevant. Eventually I would like to add more matchup specific information, as well as a full breakdown of different runes. I know I change my secondary runes often based on matchup!

If there is anything in particular you would like to see added, please leave a comment! I try to respond to every single comment.

Also, I am not the most artistic person in the world, so if there is anything I can change with the formatting of the guide, please let me know! I would love to make adjustments to make the guide easier to ready. And lemme beat you trolls to the punch, "It would make it easier to read if you just deleted the guide, har har, Kappa", well too bad for you, I don't care about deleting it, just care about improving it!

Please consider stopping by my YouTube channel, more guides will be added on there over time, and you might learn something new!

So once again, thank you so much, if you gleaned anything from the guide, please like the guide and if you have any questions or feedback, feel free to drop a comment!
