Pyke
One of the hardest match ups if the Pyke is somewhat good. You will never be able to lane without risking to die when this champion is open.
Nilah
Very good vs most lanes. Try pick Senna before Nilah so they pick Nautilus into you for free lane.

Champion Build Guide
"You don't just play Senna... you conduct her like a symphony, with range, precision, and pure judgment."
My name is Kluckadell, I am an EUW Challenger Support player since SEASON 11. I have mostly played enchanters like Janna, Lulu, Karma. But most of all I have played Senna in any way you can imagine. I have peaked 1.4K lp rank 1 on EUW Server and had Senna most played. I wanna make a real guide for all Senna players out there that wanna learn her to the max. I also stream & tweet about Senna, you can find my twitch at: http://twitch.tv/kluckadell

I hope this guide will help you understand Senna more completely, enjoy!
Senna’s lane isn’t about brute force or hard engages it’s about rhythm, range control, and small victories stacked over time. You don’t win bot lane in one fight; you win it over 30 soul procs and 100 well placed autos without getting punnished too hard.
Playstyle Breakdown
You can use both Q/Auto and Auto/Q to do small trades and guarantee souls. Q Auto is usually easier to get through because of the AA animation after proccing the passive.
Abuse your range. With over 600 starting auto range (and growing), you’re a menace to short-range supports and ADCs. Use that range to zone them off minions and control the wave tempo. Use Bushes for extra control.
Don’t overcommit. Senna isn’t an all-in champ. You’re vulnerable to hard engages play close to minions, and keep track of enemy cooldowns (hook, flash, ignite). For example Blitzcrank hook always keep track of his Q, while it's on CD you can play more aggro.
Collect souls safely. You don’t need every single soul — don’t risk positioning just for one. Use autos and Qs on champs to collect passively.
E for tempo, not just panic. Senna’s E isn’t just for disengage it’s for resetting vision, dodging skillshots, and buying time for allies to reposition or set up skillshots.
High-Level Tips
You can get Umbral Glaive early for insane DMG spike & ward control.
Use Q on cooldown. Whether it’s for poke, heal, or wave clear, Q is your lane defining tool. Make sure to use your runes correctly, for example always wait till your fleet / manaflow/ grasp is ready before you use your Q. Your Q's are limited so you want to maximize the value out of it.
Don’t spam mana too early. First few levels, your mana pool is limited. Only Q if it’s hitting multiple targets or trading value.
Bad Matchups in Lane
All in lanes: (Blitz/Draven, Naut/Kalista). Respect their engage windows and save E for disengage. Let wave push in and look for trades under turret.
Heavy poke lanes: (Karma, Zyra, Vel'Koz). You need to dodge skillshots and sustain with Q and try survive as good as you can.
Senna isn’t locked into a single build path. While Umbral, Black Cleaver and RFC make up her core, your real power comes from adaptability. These situational items let you answer what the enemy comp is doing and keep scaling, even when behind.
👟 Mercs/Tabis
Swifties is often the best option of boots for Senna, but Mercs & Tabis are sometimes good as well. Go tabis vs heavy ad comps and mercs when you play tank build and enemy has a lot of CC. No Need for mercs if you are playing ultra squishy build because if you get CC'd you are probably dead anyway.
💨 Mikael’s Blessing
Why: Enemy has hard, point and click CC (Ashe, Morgana, Lux, Leona)
When: You're against any reliable lockdown that can delete your carry or yourself.
Bonus: Gives you tenacity and healing power too perfect for utility scaling.
🛡️ Serpent’s Fang
Why: Enemies are stacking shields (Lulu, Janna, Karma, Sterak's users, overheal ADCs).
When: You feel like your poke is getting "eaten" every time.
Bonus: You can shut down enchanters with this. It turns fights.
🧯 Chempunk Chainsword/Mortal Reminder
Why: They have heavy healing (Yuumi, Soraka, Aatrox, Vladimir, etc.).
When: You don’t have a reliable Grievous Wounds source elsewhere.
Note: Apply it via Q for AoE healing reduction.
🧨 Youmuu’s Ghostblade
Why: You want to play more aggressively, roam, or snowball tempo.
When: You’re ahead early and want to play like a second ADC/map roamer.
Bonus: Great synergy with Umbral for roaming and vision denial.
⚔️ Guardian Angel
Why: You’re getting focused late game, or you’re the primary carry now.
When: You’ve got 3+ items and are pumping out serious damage.
Bonus: It forces enemies to commit more than they want to buy time for your team.
🌪️ Redemption
Why: Long teamfights, AoE poke comps, or you need extra healing range.
When: You’ve taken on a more utility focused role, or teamfights are messy.
Note: Synergizes well with your global R and Q heals for full support power.
🧠 Final Thought
Senna shines when you play her like a hybrid between poke ADC, utility support, and vision controller. Situational items are how you fine-tune that balance. Don’t build the same thing every game read the draft, adapt fast, and you’ll stay relevant in any matchup.
🧱 Basic Mechanics
Q → Auto = Fastest Poke Combo. Always lead with Q to slow and then auto immediately. It guarantees a hit and makes trades safe and clean.
Q can target through anything. Minions, turrets, wards, allies — use them to extend your poke and healing range.
Your Shroud can make your teamates invisible inside, use this to cheese with for example a Darius inside to pull enemy team into you.
🧠 Positioning and Spacing
Play behind minions vs hook champions. Your Q still reaches through, and you deny them their engage.
Use E proactively. It's not just a panic button. Use it to:
Bait skillshots (people panic spam when you vanish)
Sneak through vision for roams
Reset fights and give allies time to reposition
Know when NOT to heal. Q has long cooldown early. Don’t waste it unless it’s hitting multiple targets or preventing real damage.
🔭 Vision and Map Control
Umbral Glaive = Power Spike. Once you buy it, you become a mobile ward destroyer. Sweep enemy vision before objectives, and open paths for flanks or roams.
Use Wards as Q targets. Place a ward in a bush and Q through it to poke people who think they’re safe. You can also use wards to Q through for chasing them, the Q will slow and you will have easier time to catch them.
🌀 Teamfight Flow
You’re not front line. You’re not backline either. You're a floaty, mobile artillery/healer. Stay between your ADC and your frontline.
R is NOT just a finisher. Use it for:
Shields before dives
Early damage in all ins
Map wide assists
Follow up on picks
Peel with Q, W and autos. The slow from your passive helps kite and peel for your carries. Don’t tunnel vision on damage — sometimes soft CC is all they need.
💎 Bonus Pro Tips
You can use R and flash over a wall last second and the R will get shot from where you stood originally, just because you R doesn't always mean you are immobile.
Your soul scaling is exponential. The more you get, the faster you get more. Hit as many champs as possible in teamfights — even 1 auto = more stacks. If the fight is guaranteed won, stop hitting and pick up all the souls instead, these souls are worth a lot more than some extra damage on the end game damage graph.
Q+Flash = Unexpected Heal/Snipe. You can cast Q and then Flash mid animation to get out of a sticky situation, for example Q and then flash to dodge a hook from Blitzcrank.
Grasp Of The Undying -
You can stack up grasp by auto minions and on fully stacked you can Q through minions to get a more effective Q proc. This will also heal & gain you permanent hp. Do this when you can't really walk up without risking to die.Soul Drops Are Predictable
Cannon minions always drop souls when you tag them.
In chaotic fights, look for low health cannons and Q them after they die — free soul.
You can also spam auto attack move click on a minion the second it dies to guarantee a soul pick up if it actually drops one, otherwise the soul risk to fly away too far away and you will miss it.
Ulti Pre Combat for Tempo
Most players hold Senna’s R for snipes or shields after fights begin.
But casting it pre engage gives your team an edge before they even commit — shield front line, chunk squishies, and create pressure instantly.
Black Cleaver mechanics
- Black Cleaver on Senna stacks twice per auto. You can increase this to 3 stacks per auto using Summon Aery. This will fully stack BC already after 2 autos. You can also combine Black Cleaver with Runaans Hurricane and procc it on 3 targets at the same time.
Nilah & Senna -
Nilah is a really good adc for Senna because of the shared XP & passive for healing & shielding. She also gives you immunity to auto attacks, if you manage to get prio in this lane level 1 it's almost guaranteed you will win this lane. Try pick Senna before Nilah to bait enemy support to pick frontline support like Nautilus, this is a very good match up in most of the times. Karma and other ranged supports that can punnish you and your low range adc is bad match up and you will have a harder time to snowball.
Swain & Senna -
Swain is a good mage that is good with Senna, Swain works like a tank/mage for you after level 6 and you both stack champions. Swain with his ult will be able to tank for both of you and you will be able to free hit and you should most of the times win fights and at the same time stack both of you.
Ashe & Senna -
Ashe is a very good ADC for Senna because of the slow from her passive, and what makes this synergy even better is the fact that both of you can use Approach Velocity and take advantage of eachothers slows. What you can do in this lane is be the tank and buy two ruby crystals from the build path to Black Cleaver and work as the frontline, when they engaged on you and can't kill you in one all in you can run them down with the slows.
Fasting Senna Syngeries -
Tahm Kench & Senna -
Tahm Kench, very good fasting combo but not as strong as when it was the strongest. You can most of the times get free match ups and just stack souls. If enemy has for example Jarvan-IV you can feel more safe having Tahm Kench in your team that can eat you and ult you to safety. Be sure to play Senna as an actual carry because you will not have as much AD damage.
Sion & Senna -
Sion is also a good fasting champion for Senna because of the both stacking champions and his passive after death. If you fight and he dies and they are forced to back off, if you manage to hit a W after Sion dying you also can guarantee a kill most of the times. Sion can also farm after death so Sion will always be useful because of his kit and hard to punnish.
Ornn & Senna -
Ornn is also a good pick because of his tankiness and immunity to crowd control, so he can tank a lot and also tank hooks and stuff to protect you. He also provides good wave clear and upgrades later on in the game which makes you even stronger.
With Melee ADC's you will most of the time have easier time to get souls which will make you stronger as a champ, that's why fasting Senna with melee ADC's are good.
You want to roam with jungle on good timers to maximize soul stacking.
Senna is one of the most unique and expressive champions in the game. There's always more to learn with her, and I genuinely believe she has infinite potential in the right hands. If this guide helped you even a little bit — then it was worth making.
If you have any questions, want to chat, or just hang out and watch some Senna gameplay, you can always catch me on Twitch @kluckadell.
Good luck out there — and may every soul count. 💀✨
