Hey! Thanks for the input, I tend to agree with The all Tomato here in some parts, I'd build it after tier 2 GP10 sightstone and boots if I was far ahead with a really offensive adc. I'd probably build a Sheen and use it for the lane and upgrade it when I could / needed to, its a good item and I'll definitely add it as situational because if I was only breaking even or losing lane there are other things I'd build instead. Thanks for the suggestion!

What I notice is that Iceborn Gauntlet isn't mentioned anywhere. I'm not saying to change anything about the guide but it is a viable option that I favour over a lot of other items due to the mix of stats it gives.
A larger mana pool, durability, cooldowns, AP and the AOE slow field. The on hit damage is just a small unimportant plus.

Sona's low cooldowns allow for rapid usage of the slow effect making kiting much easier and can be paired with Power Chord: TEMPO to make escape nigh impossible.

Assuming standard meta Iceborn makes for a great third item considering lane threat and potential threats to come. After getting the second form of your gold item of choice as well as Sightstone. The additional HP from Sightstone proves useful against all forms of damage while the resistances from Iceborn Gauntlet make you resilient to the first immediate threat in your lane.

A larger mana pool makes items with the Mana Font (1% increased mana regen for each 1% mana missing) passive more effective as even at a lower percent of mana your current mana pool can be quite large but you will also maintain a greater amount of manaregen for longer amounts of time.

The thing about IBG is that it has a poor build path for most situations. It's a fairly high-armor item, but it only gives 20 of 60 armor until it's complete. Sheen is better the earlier you can get it and gives dominance in early lane skirmishes. However, delaying core items like Sightstone, boots, and tier 2 GP10 is undesirable. These considerations show building IBG is somewhat at odds with a normal supportive build, and requires taking a large risk, or having a secure lead and surplus gold. Not incorporating Sheen into your build early means that during mid-game, you will be investing important gold and item slots into items that don't give impacting benefits until the full IBG is complete.

By contrast, the path for Frozen Heart lets you sit on 70 armor until combining the item (plus the passive of Warden's Mail). I like IBG as a completed item, but I think its build path is what makes it a less-viable item on Sona.

Hi there, I'm sorry I know the guide is inconsistent in places, thats because I was in the process of updating it, but then my real life got very busy, I just broke my hand and I'm going down for surgery soon so this kind of went on the back burner. I was updating it as I played the new Sona. I originally kept the old sona stuff in as a comparison for people to see what changed just over the first week, but then all this happened and I didn't get a chance to take it down. I agree with many of your points and I do want to get around to updating this guide, I do want to go through all what you said in detail but typing is pretty painful at the moment, I'll for sure slowly update what you have said.

Thank you for your feedback and I'll be back soon to update more of this when I can.

Hey again! I wanted to let you know that I removed my downvote. I gave your guide a second look, and while I still think the writing and formatting needs work, and I disagree with some of your assessments, I think this guide has plenty of potential.

I'm willing to help you edit your writing and clean up some of the formatting. I can also help you write about a poke-based playstyle if you wish to include this after reading my critiques. Please let me know if you would like this!

I'd like to add some more critiques and elaborate on my previous ones:
  • I noticed that you actually did include a note about greater mark of hybrid penetration in the cheat sheet. This is good, but I want to stress again that Sona is still a great lane bully! A lot of the power of her Q has been moved to the empowered basic attacks--perhaps you are struggling to adapt to this change. A well-rounded guide should include build paths for utility (as you have done) as well as harass in lane (which you have ignored / downplayed).

My biggest complaint on this topic--you include Sorcerer's Shoes in the cheat sheet, while simultaneously rejecting hybrid penetration marks and the Spellthief's Edge option. This makes absolutely no sense--do I need to explain why further?

I would love for this guide to contain information about both build paths (utility-based, utilizing Talisman of Ascension; poke- and AP-based, utilizing Frost Queen's Claim), but if you choose to prefer one, PLEASE be consistent about it, and don't downplay the other so much, when it is perfectly viable in the appropriate matchups!

  • You include too much information about the old Sona. This is extraneous information to players learning Sona for the first time (and even to players who aren't completely new to her). It makes the guide feel cluttered (seriously...there's no reason to even talk about Lich Bane in this guide anymore). I suggest condensing all this information into one chapter for clarity's sake, if you feel you must include it at all.

  • Ardent Censer is a useful item, but only in specific team compositions. Specifically, it is best with multiple attack speed-based carries, and in siege compositions. Please do not include this as a core item! Supports build more situationally than other champions and I feel it is misleading for you to include this as a core item.

  • Mikael's Blessing's 'specific function' is to counter crowd control threats. However, the active and its stats are strong enough that it should be considered in almost any situation.

You state that there is "no reason not to build" Locket of the Iron Solari. I may be misunderstanding what you mean by that, but I think it is inconsistent for you to treat Locket (which has a specific function against AoE magic damage) differently that Crucible, which are both powerful enough to consider buying even if their 'specific functions' aren't met.

Please let me know what you think of my input, and if you want any additional help!
