Champion Build Guide

SSM's Gold Thresh Guide Season 11

By ShadowSlayerMain
Introduction
Hello, guys. I am ShadowSlayerMain or SSM, an Aatrox main who ended up in Gold Tier during S9. Playing the Support role with champions like Nautilus and Soraka was part of my ranked games too. On this guide I'll talk about another tanky and hook Support champion, Thresh. Be sure to read my chapters well because they have explainments and more. Good Luck!
Pros And Cons
PROS

+ Strong Early Game
+ Hooking Predict
+ Good Reflexes
+ Find Teamfights Just Easy

Thanks to his crowd control and strong kit, Thresh can help his teammates enough to win a Teamfight if he performs the correct mechanics.
CONS

- Early Game Disadvantages
- Wrong Mechanics
- Don't work with Reflexes
- Teamfights are Difficult

In Early Game you should be careful with your position and your CDS because Thresh is the only champion that doesn't get his Armor increased by leveling up. You should also practice your Mechanics so you can work with Reflexes and catch Q- Death Sentence predicts.

Runes And Items

RESOLVE
Thresh's more compatible keystone is Aftershock for increased Armor and MR when attacking enemy champions. Some players prefer Guardian for protecting their ADC with a shield when enemy champions attack them.
The best you can take here is Demolish for destroying enemy towers quckly. Font of Life can be compatible with your engages but Thresh's kit has only 2 abilities to hit multiple enemies simultaneously so it's not easy.
Thresh isn't actually a Tank but he still absorbs damage so the best you can take here is Bone Plating to reduce enemy's damage for 3 times after taking damage.
The only part that is compatible with Thresh's Passive is Overgrowth to increase HP during the Laning Phase. Unflinching can be another compatible part for him to increase Tenacity after casting a Summoner Spell.

INSPIRATION
Inspiration are the most common secondary for Support champions like Thresh. With Biscuit Delivery you will get biscuits during the Laning Phase at the 1st 6 mins that restore some of your HP and Mana. Cosmic Insight is the most recommended for increased CDR. Hextech Flashtraption is a part for advanced Flash tricks.
This is the item you start with as soon as a classic game starts. It will start building to your Warding Item after you complete the 50% of its challenge. At 100% you won't be able anymore to kill enemy minions for giving your allies gold.
Thresh needs more Ability Haste in Early Game so this is the most compatible Boots option.
After its latest update this is Thresh's Mythic Item for increased Armor and MR. Its Active is also useful for shielding his allies.
This is your next Core Item for healing your allies using its Active even when dead.
Armor Options against AA based champions to reduce their Attack Speed.
This was a Core Item in the last season but now it can still be useful.
This can be a very optional purchase against a heavy CC team.
If you have Late Game advantage you can build this to make an ally have burst damage.
If you tank enough damage you can build this for restoring HP when you keep living during Teamfights.
Supports like Thresh that don't deal damage can build this for increased Armor and MR and an optional Active ability during Teamfights.
After you full build, you can build this for increased Tenacity and Armor.
Laning Phase
As soon as a classic game starts, you shouldn't hurry starting with one of Thresh's abilities until minions spawn. Before you follow your ADC on Bot Lane you will probably help your Jungler with his starting Buff. If there's no invade you should start with E- Flay because it will also give you the chance to wave clear faster and poke the target enemy laner. If you are planning on invading the enemy Jungler you should start with Q- Death Sentence after you predict the enemy team near their Buff.

When you reach Bot Lane with your ADC you can poke the enemy laners with E- Flay but if there was an invade that made you start with Q- Death Sentence you can only poke them with your stun, not trade them. If they too have abilities for wave clear you shouldn't cast Q- Death Sentence 2, approach or place your W- Dark Passage on their dead minions that drop souls to increase your Passive- Damnation's Armor because this will make you risk either losing some of your HP or having an ability on high CD in Early Game. After you reach level 2 you can start trading as usual but be careful for the enemies' damage and who you are focusing on. You can also use your W- Dark Passage for helping your ADC to escape easily when you have bad trades or your Jungler for perfectly ganking.
Late Game
Thresh's kit has low CDS in Late Games so it will be easy to catch Q- Death Sentence many times, especially when the enemy team is full of low range champions. Your R- The Box is the most essential weapon for slowing multiple enemies simultaneously. Casting it at the right time will give you the chance to easily catch an enemy with Q- Death Sentence. The most important way to protect your team, especially from mobility champions is E- Flaying them right before they complete their dash on them and then stunning them to help your team kill them easily. Before you start Teamfighting you should also prepare your Items because they are other important weapons for Supports.
Mechanics
Before I show you some complete Mechanics of Thresh I will 1st show you some other tricks to keep in mind which can always happen when performing mechanics:

E,

Q, W, (Wait for an ally to tap it), Q2

W, (Wait for an ally to tap it),

, Q

Now these are your primary mechanics:

, E,

E, ( ), Q

Q, (Q2), E,

Q, (Q2), E, R,

In Conclusion
That's it for my Thresh guide. I hope it helped you improve. If you want, feel free to ask me any question by commenting and don't forget to vote!
