So long as you can dodge his Q then this lane is safe, but if you get caught post level 3 its almost certain death. His Q is on a 20/19/18/17/16 second cooldown.
Introduction
Hello everyone, I'm Saeh, and this is my Soraka guide. I have attempted to archive the memories and experiences that have lead me to find and love the champion Soraka. I would ask that you leave feedback if you find something that you do or don't like so that I may correct it to fit the whims of everyone involved. Soraka is a powerful utility and poke champion, capable of shutting down many threats and healing past what they can do. In this guide I will attempt to break down some numbers and show you why Soraka is such a great champ to pick up and learn to play! |
Pros
+ A powerful heal with [Astral Infusion]! + Strong silence with [Equinox]! + A map wide heal in [wish]! + Strong poke in lane with [Salvation]! + Good in lane sustain! + Great utility for team fights! + Low skill floor! + Gold Efficient! Soraka has good base states that transfer to a strong, safe laning phase against most support and adc's! Not only that but her W's healing is so powerful that your adc wont even be able to be damaged throughout the laning phase! You have to be focused down first in teamfight's otherwise your Assassins and Mages wont be able to be taken down! You can even change the course of a gank in top or mid with the single press of R! |
Cons
- Squishy - Lack of Mobility in most cases - Cant roam well - Mana reliant - Limited item diversity - Low damage - No hard CC Unfortunately, Soraka cant always be as powerful as we want her to be. There are some matchups where Equinox can be used for little more than poke in laning phase, and even more where as you can be cc'd down and easily taken care of. With no hard CC or escape. If you get caught out it is very likely that you could die. |
In the first tier we take Manaflow Band or Nullifying Orb depending on the matchup. Nullifying Orb is useful against poke supports and AP heavy comps, while as Manaflow Band is nice for the added mana, since E takes up a lot if you spam it in lane.
We take Transcendence for the bonus CDR that it gives, allowing us to reach maximum CDR with our build.
In the third tier we choose either Gathering Storm for a stronger late game, or Scorch for a stronger laning phase
We take either Magical Footwear when facing non-poke champions, and Biscuit Delivery when against poke comps.
We take Cosmic Insight for the free CDR as it works nicely with Transcendence.
Flash: Since the release of the flash rune it has been a staple for almost every champion. It is a must have in lane especially since we have such low mobility |
Ignite: We take Ignite most commonly in lane not only for the bonus true damage but also for the grevious wounds debuff. |
Barrier: You can take barrier when you want to play extremely aggressive in lane, such as when facing champions like Taric and Janna. |
Exhaust: I recommend taking barrier when you have two or more teammates taking ignite, but qualifications aren't met to take barrier. |
-
Salvation: This passive gives some bonus movement speed to Soraka when she needs to heal her adc or another player. Most of the time though you wont notice this passive
-
Starcall (Q): This is Soraka's main for of damage and poke. You should be using this ability as often as you can until your manaband is maxed out.
-
Astral Infusion (W): This is Soraka's cornerstone ability and is used to make some poor trades become great trades and keep your adc alive through whatever challenges face you two.
-
Equinox (E): Equinox is both a silence and a root and you use it in lane to maximize the safety of trades and also as a form of poke. We max it first since it allows you to step up to make trades with more safety.
- Wish (R): Wish is a powerful map wide heal that can change the course of a teamfight, and ultimately the game with the press of a button. Whenever you have Wish up you should be looking at your map and teammates health and looking for a good opportunity to abuse your heals. You shouldn't waste it however, if you are going to use it make sure that whomever you heal can change the course of a teamfight or escape.
