if your fighting yorick either try and get a kill or two prior lvl 3 or cower behind your minion wave dodging each of his ghoul baits he throws at ya. get the kill lvl 1 or go home basically, and if you do try and kill him at lvl 3 and over and get walled then get ghoul jumped ahem... well you learned the hard way.
kled is a simple character to watch out for, you simply gotta play around his uhmmm... the pokey thingy he does 3 times that does hp percent damage, once he uses it try and look for a fight, if he doesnt bait, q slow him if his trying to engage and let his tri poke thing wear off before going in.
winning and losing against darius is a sweet thin line you can somewhat out trade him at lvl 1-5 but after lvl 6 expect some high retaliation. and if somehow darius gets a few kills under his belt and is leading with gold, his bleed will be too much for you to handle especially once he finishes black cleaver. best strategy? save your swallow until he uses his q, once you swallow him the q will still go off but he will be in your stomach which means the cleaving end wont hit.
stay under tower, stay under tower... stay under tower, look your skills can only target one thing, if he hides behind his turrets your q does nothing, if you try and swallow his turrets you will get nothing out of it, he has more. if you try and swallow him! look at him go at mach speed around his turrets and you barely able to stack at him, and then die.
your a tank, and shes a tank killer, 8% max hp true damage whenever she lands 3 stacks on ya is really tough. good thing Kench has a flexible shield that is on low cool down, whenever she pokes you and is about to land a third hit, pop a shield to negate the third stack damage. as for engaging, the only time you can engage is when you land a Q, tahms Q lasts 3 seconds and since you have velocity rune, you should be able to catch up with her even with 1 point on Q. if she knocks you back though you got 2 choices, to either chase if you feel confident enough (only do so if she isnt lvl 6 yet, if she is, only when you got omens) or fall back, she wont be able to chase hard since she will still be slowed for atleast another second.
trynd is easy to build against, simply get omens and see his damage fall enough for you to never worry about him again. but while tahm kench out counters him early to even late game, he can still be very scary if he somehow got more kills by roaming or even by killing you thanks to a gank.
recently i found out that i could change my runes during match up so when i see galio top, i switch my runes immediately to magic res instead of armor, galio should be really easy now to fight.
shen does counter you, his auto attack with his ability can do % hp based damage, and he has a barrier that blocks auto attacks, what do you do? bait it, after his 3 auto attacks he is rather useless so obviously he will try and disengage after, dont let him, make him regret going in, your q slow will help in that.
just.. bait his riven copy cat ability. if you see him use it try and look for an engage with your q, make sure to dodge his lock up ability.
renekton is a god of engage and disengage cheese, even tahm kench has problems trying to punish an engage with him, so what do you do? make sure to predict his engage and play around it, get bramble vest so he wont heal the damage you do as you engage back. if you do predict his engage and land a q before he falls back to his minion wave punish him as hard as you can! unless he got to lvl 6 and you arent in a gold lead against him in which case....
his oranges can let him get out of your swallow and stop your q slow, its hard to engage against him so best way to win would be to do the unpredictable, flash q, thats usually how i got my first kill on gang plank that or lvl 1 fight. even if he does orange your close enough to still auto poke him and then swallow, he doesnt have his orange ability up to make the swallow go away so your in the clear so simply flash close enough to auto attack and quickly q to bait an orange.
garens spin to win move works even when you swallow him so it can hurt a lot, but you can still out damage him if you play smart, wait for his q slam and then go in if you could q him.
jax is one of my most hated champs, along with tryndamere. it doesnt matter if you killed him a lot early game somehow he will find himself still useful during mid to late game, split pushing and even team fights. but early game you can still win against him hard prior to lvl 6. so punish him a lot before mid to late game.
the tentacle mini game, illaoi is easy to predict and fight against, bait an E ability and fight around her tentacles.
chogath is easy to fight against prior to lvl 6, bait his skills and then go in once he reaches lvl 6 and if you arent fed dont engage.
gnar is a weaker version of vayne, but that doesnt mean he wont hurt, a good gnar will play around his fury gauge to get that extra hp and ability bursts at the end, so you gotta play around his gauge aswell. if you could fight him without him turning his rather easy, just dont prolong the fight too long.
fighting sett is rather simple, just stick to him like glue, and tahm kench is known for easily sticking to people no matter what, so stick to Sett, dont flee, because if you do sett will have a clear haymaker shot. aslong as you land a good Q you should be able to win the trade, and if minions are in the way, simply swallow him away from the minion wave. once he does use haymaker, you can swallow and let him stay in your stomach for quite a bit to let his shield decay without letting him reap the benefits of it.
morde is a menace if you dont pick magic res in your runes, but when you do pick magic res, he is so easy to fight just bully him hard.
dr mundo is super easy before lvl 6, he heavily relies on his cleavers to slow and poke hard just like how you fight with your q. that being said your q slow is slightly stronger then his and you got the velocity rune to help stick to him so punish him hard before he reaches lvl 6. get bramble vest to help the trades at lvl 6.
fiora is easy to fight against, reset her passive by walking away and if she goes for a poke try and q her key is to bait her w the counter thing it can even counter your swallow so becareful but if you could bait it, shes easy prior to lvl 6.
just build wits end and you should be able to deal with him super easily.
just.. dont let him farm, your q slow rivals his slow, so simply let him stand back as you let his minion wave kill your wave.
pantheons think they can jump at you, stun and then poke some before disengaging with his negate damage shield poke ability but what they dont think about is how strong tahm kench can stick to you before you die. q slow him go around his shield poke and then auto lick him to death, make him regret going sparta mode on your butt.
rivens engage and disengage is weaker compared to renektons, bait their abilities then slow, once their slowed they cant run far no matter how much they jump away with their abilities.
phase rush! funny, to your q slow its nothing, make them regret going ryze top and let them cry using their scroll as a napkin in their base. even their ult is useless, it just saves them from fighting you.
the running simulator, if you chase you lose but tahm kench can chase anybody his slow is so strong its easy to go in on a singed.
bait his machine gun and then go all in, his not strong, its only until he gets black cleaver and gets to lvl 6 so make use of the time before that.
a shield that negates physical damage, good thing tahm does magic damage even with his qs, camille has a strong disengage though so there will be times you wont be able to finish her off, but hey that just means you will get another chance next time she tries to jump ya.
quinn will always do a backflip and then overuse the blind to auto attack, after you get unblinded punish them for it, if your q misses tho dont bother they will kite you.
i mean... its teemo, the blind is annoying but if you landed your q ahem.. well his dead.
irelia doesnt have a disengage, and her early game is weak. easy laning phase for tahm.
ohoho.. yeah just dont let them even lvl up.
his auto attack slows are annoying, but it just stops the inevitable end they will have to experience over and over again.
ornn is a one trick pony, if he goes in he will use his combo abilities but once all of his abilities are on cool down he ends up with nothing, so have fun.
never fought a sion with tahm kench but i assume its really easy, if he going for the knock up and his in line with your q, dont let him run away scott free
once again phase rush is nothing and your q even slows them during their blood pool, punish them hard and enjoy the sweet song of their misery as they call you a fat ass for playing tahm, been there done that.
yasuo is rather weak, just get omens, and dont let him get his q off for the tornadoes. if somehow you see yourself losing in the trades dont let him get the kill or else he will snowball off on you.
recently i learned that zoes ult can be cancelled thanks to tahms swallow, so if your zoe is in danger all she has to do is ult towards you then get swallowed by you before she warps back. learned that after playing with a zoe adc, its fun so try it with a friend.
Hello!! im Subject3, a literal nobody who started playing on 2013, quit for a year because i didnt like league, then came back when tahm kench arrived and i just LOVED him, look im a big guy, i love to eat, put it in a slimy southern catfish with charming quotes like ''If your heart is gold and your body is steel, why's tin between your ears?"
i just loved him, but why should YOU read my guide about tahm kench, well, i play him more then any champion combined in league, i played him a lot in the support role and in top lane i won almost any match up, i will be uploading a lot of videos as well and offer lots of updates, i play tahm kench constantly and i dont think ill make any other guide unless i fall in love with another underrated character.
easy to farm CS early for a tank
built in hydra damage in his passive.
one of the strongest 1v1 champions.
can switch between an amazing back line peeler or front line tank.
can turn a fight around by ulting a carry to an objective.
can defend against split pushers.
can offer ally jungler the best gank in top/mid during laning phase
very slow wave clear unless you get tiamat or fire cape.
smart top laners can use red minions against you.
can sometimes swallow a minion by accident.
thick Q that can easily hit a minion.
weak lvl 6 Ult that cant be used during a fight.
his spells can only affect 1 target at a time.
falls off easily mid to late game.
2:25: tahm kench is strong at 1v1 combat he will always win so if you find yourself in this scenario dont back down.
4:55: khazix jumps to safety but out of instinct i go to him incase he will need a swallow from the enemy rengar, you never know.
5:15 darius goes in and eventually i pursue, because darius was getting away and i didnt want to risk tongue slowing a minion i flashed for the kill.
8:25: darius is out in the open no minion waves to block so i q and go in, you can see how i q right after i spit darius out for the extra burst.
10:00 im looking to ult behind him but as i said in the video, darius is lvl 6 he might win the trade which will stop me snowballing out of him. (if you continue up to 10:40 though you will see i was worried for no reason, got the kill easy)
12:15: i ult right in between both escape routes the river and his tower, that way if he goes in both ways ill still be able to reach with my tongue q and secure the kill, it wasnt necessary at this point but take notes in case theres another escape route they can take and your just blocking one of them.
14:17: now this is really important to take note of, in this fight you see how i moved away a bit after stacking 3 times and then swallowed darius out of his tower? dont underestimate how long tahm kench swallow can reach, get used to the range and make use of it to grab your opponents out of their safety to secure the kill, the farther you are able to swallow them as they run the better since you can spit them behind you increasing the distance they have to their turret.
20:34: notice how many times i popped shield, especially the first shield that could have blocked darius ult if he had one, dont stop popping those shields you have low cdr on your E so use it whenever your grey health is in a good thresh hold that can negate most damage before 2 seconds elapse, if you do it any later you will lose most of that grey health for nothing because of time and not because of damage, it just hurts seeing my shield being wasted like that.
4:55: if your enemy has an engage but no disengage, flashing for a q is an easy way to secure a kill if they are rather close to their turrets, and if they flash, its a flash for flash trade, which is rather good.
5:35: 2v1, i popped shield twice in this fight, both negating pantheons spear damage.
7:25 used my ult to force pantheon into a fight, as i said before pantheon has no disengage or mobility whatsoever so he has to confront me into battle, which ended poorly for him.
13:40: if i had to say, tahm kench is a champ when it comes to melee kiting, so enemies like sett that rely on hay maker to deal a load of burst damage is nothing compared to kench, all you gotta do is be close and personal.
21:47: i went behind my allies as they retreat, i alternated between udyr and xayah incase they needed a swallow.
22:00: depending on what your team wants to do you gotta choose between being a backliner support or a frontline tank, in this instance you see that my team is going for a poke so i back the enemy team off by being in the frontline, and when my team is deciding to back off a bit i run to the backline incase either will need a swallow.
23:15 game ends here with an undeserving triple kill, not much to say.
theres a reason why pantheon is so weak to tahm kench, he has no disengage and his stun isnt enough to make me back off, tahms q takes 3 seconds to wear off, so if i had to say what pantheon did wrong is he used his uhmm.. that shield thing that negates damage, it slows him down giving me an opportunity to catch up.
so moral of the story, if you hate pantheons guts, pick tahm kench, because tahm has a gut that can pick on him for sure.
