Introduction

In this brief comprehensive guide I'll explain the build, mastery page and rune page to hopefully answer some of your questions you may have.

Masteries

The mastery page I have mapped out, allows you to do a large amount of damage early game up into level 6. These masteries also allow you to sustain damage from harass from your lane opponent.

Items

This item build allows you to be durable yet, still do an assassin's job on jumping in getting the kill and getting out...alive. Obviously on this build you see a Spirit of the Lizard, which I know is slightly unconventional but this will make you more durable and give you damage over time that will secure kills. This also allows you to be durable for the middle game where Talon falls of slightly. Even so, you should rush the Brutalizer for your Black Cleaver try getting it by level 6. After getting your Brutalizer you should then rush to finish your Boots of Swiftness and your Spirit of the Lizard Elder. Then after building those items you should prioritize finishing your Black Cleaver. Then finish the build by building the rest of the items in order.

Runes

The rune page on this one is pretty straight forward. These runes give you the potential to do huge damage early game and allow you to be durable in the mid-late game.

Pros / Cons

Pros: Talon scales more health and armor than any other assassin, making him a durable, tenacious champion. Talon's ability to jump into the fray instantly via his (E), also silences your target and increases your damage to the target, therefore allowing you to dismantle your target quickly. Talon also has a built in escape with his ultimate, which can also we used to secure a kill if you need it to.

Cons: Talon is very mana hungry early game which hinders your ability to be in an sustained fight with anybody. Also, your lane opponent will start surpass you in durability and possibly damage (depending on who it is) about levels 9-12, which if dealt with incorrectly your opponent may kill you and set you further behind. (Don't fret though you pick up later). Hard CC is the bane of Talon's existence, since you're not as durable as other champions your health, if focused, will disappear.

Team Work and the Mindset

First off we'll discuss the mindset that you will need in playing this champion, for a strong base in this champion will allow you to play every other assassin well. When playing Talon solo top, remember that you will more than likely have superior mobility over your lane opponent and with the runes and masteries that are laid out for you, you will be doing scary damage early game forcing your opponent off farm and allowing you to win exchanges. You should (If at all possible) avoid making exchanges until you hit level 6 because, Talon is incredibly mana hungry and constantly fighting your opponent or trying to poke them down will ultimately make you lose since your mana will deplete rapidly. Making exchanges post 6 will more than likely secure you kills which is why the wait is worth it. First and foremost, you are an assassin and king of your lane, therefore you can and should fight your opponents when it's optimal for you to fight them and ultimately kill them.

When it comes to the team fight stage of the game you are a huge threat to the enemy team but, only to the right people. As an assassin your job is to dismantle high value, soft targets such as: The enemy ADC, AP carry and the support (In that order). With this hefty job tasked to you, you will have to do A LOT of positioning. You may not jump immediately into a team fight, you have to wait for those high value targets to expose themselves before you can engage.
