Introduction to this Guide

Hey guys! This is my first guide on any LOL champion (gasp!). This guide is about how to build a Hybrid On-Hit Effect Teemo the way i like it ;). I have played about 400+ games with On-Hit effect Teemo. Before Season 3, I build him with Malady, Wits End, and Madred's Bloodrazor. But since the patch I had to figure out a new way to build him. After 30+ games with this little sucker I have finally come up with this built. The items in it are still subject to change as I experiment with more items in the future. I hope you guys enjoy this guide, and please try it out before you judge! If you have suggestions, after trying the build out, please feel free to leave a comment at the end of this guide.

Teemo

Teemo is a cute, evil, son of a gun when it comes to league. He can shred his targets, hide in the middle of the lane, kill steal, even when he is dead, and taunt everyone, and anyone even if they are across the map (global taunt :D). Here is the Pros and Cons of Teemo.

Pros:
+Shreds targets quickly, even tanks.
+Can kill someone, even when he is dead (dat poison).
+Shrooms provide sight and harass prevents ganks.
+Passive: Global Taunt
+With this build, even if you don't do well early game, you can still succeed late game.
+Good early level harass
+Has many skins to choose from (I own 5 of them :3).
+The most f****** adorable champ on the league.

Cons:
-Squishy
-Has one of the shortest ranges for a ranged champ
-Passive: Global Taunt

Spells

  • camouflageTeemo's Passive. Holy Cow, I can not count how many times I have ambushed and successfully slain and enemy champion. This is THE ambushing passive, it is so useful at catching people off guard they need to remove this passive (I'm over exaggerating here). Don't overuse it though, sometimes you might think they don't see you, when in reality they are just waiting for Blitzcrank to come grab your @$$.
  • [Q]Teemo's anti-ADC spell. It deals decent magic damage, but its main purpose is to shut down ADC's before they are able to deal significant damage. I can not tell you how many times an ADC tried to 1v1 me with my blind, I shred them to pieces.
  • [W]This is my "get close, and get the heck out of there" spell. It provides awesome bonus movement speed that allows Teemo to dodge skills shots more easily and get from point A to B a whole lot quicker. It's Active is insanely useful to get yourself out of harm's way.
  • [E]The MVS (Most Valuable Skill). All I can say.
  • [R]Teemo's ward/nuke trap/Plan B. He can use it to prevent ganks, steal kills when he is dead, provide a route to get away from a lost team fight, and provide sight for your allies to home in on an enemy champ.

Runes

For his runes I mostly focus on magic penetration for his toxic shot and his Malady passive. Magic Penetration for his Quints and Marks, Attack Speed for his Seals, and Magic Resist for Glyphs (for going mid, and surviving ap casters) but you can also go ap runes as well, up to you.

Items

Item Sequence

Berserker's Greaves 1100
Malady 2035
Liandry's Torment 3000
Runaan's Hurricane 2800
Rabadon's Deathcap 3600
Blade of the Ruined King 3200

Now to the most important part of this guide (debatable, but I know the first thing everyone looks at is the item purchase order). I use this build to attain a somewhat survivable, massive damage dealing yordle.

CORE BUILD:

Malady is the key item to any hybrid Teemo build, it provides awesome on hit effect damage 15 (+10% of you ap). Topped with Teemo's toxic shot, you will deal tons of damage. This item provides you everything you need on Teemo, attack speed, ability power, and an awesome on hit effect passive. The early magic resist reduction will be extremely useful early game as well.

It is debatable whether this item is good for an on hit effect Teemo. Yes, it only procs on his blind and shroom, but it doesn't make it an worthless item for Teemo. His shrooms will double the effectiveness of Liandry's Torment, making ambushes all the more fun. Also if you blind the adc, you can kill him a lot faster. I prefer a Liandry's Torment on a Teemo since it provides you incredible ambushing damage, and makes you tankier with 200 bonus health and stronger with its flat magic penetration and 70 ability power.

AND EVERYTHING ELSE...

So this is the finishing build. I usually build a Runaan's Hurricane mainly because its pre-build items are pretty useful. The passive is the key to Teemo's survival in the game. This item is so good, if the game carries out to 45 minutes I can almost guarantee a finished build because I farmed so quickly. The ability to farm is crucial to Teemo's survival, especially if you are falling quite behind. On top of farming, it helps chop through the enemies if they are clumped together since the bolts apply On-Hit Effects (I mean if this item isn't perfect for Teemo, what is?). The 70% Attack Speed also allows you to backdoor like a BOSS.

The next item I generally go for is Rabadon's Deathcap. It provides 36 more damage to your initial toxic shot tick and 12 more damage to your Malady. But thats only the base ability power, it doesn't include its passive. This item is very useful for Teemo as it will provide more on hit effect damage for him through his Toxic Shot and Poison. On top of that your shrooms will turn into Nukes.

The final item I almost always go for is the Blade of The Ruined King. This item is awesome as it provides attack damage, life steal and a sick On-Hit Effect passive. This item can't help you sustain in fights, as well as **** on everyone's faces. Packed with Liandry's Torment, tanks won't ever be a problem again.

ALTERNATIVE ITEMS

Now of course it's never a good idea to use the same build over and over and over again, regardless of the situation. Here are a few items I think are good replacements for certain items.

The Bloodthirster can be used to replace Rabadon's Deathcap. It provides really decent sustainability, especially packed with The Blade of the Ruined King. With this item I have seen myself take down a champ or two while they all focus me (of course if they use all there cc on me I'll instant K.O.). Replace Rabadon's Deathcap with this item if you wish to survive longer in team fights. Personally I enjoy a Rabadon's Deathcap more then a Bloodthirster mainly because you provide more damage in a teamfight with your Runaan's hurricane. With just AD you don't provide as much as only a little bit of damage is given to the bolts fired out of the Hurricane. However the lifesteal is very beneficial for 1v1 battles. I can go either way with these two items.

The Frozen Mallet can replace either the Rabadon's Deathcap or The Blade of The Ruined King. It's purpose is too catch those enemies who keep getting away from you, and to proc Liandry's Passive Double Damage Bonus when there is no shroom or redbuff with you.

Get this over Rabadon's Deathcap if the AP champions are really shutting you down. With the Runaan's hurricane it will stack insanely fast, providing you the magic resist you need to surivive, and the attack speed you need to excel in fights.

This is an item that has been suggested to me by a commenter. It is to replace Liandry's Torment. I have tried out the item and all I can say is that it does provide more damage for your toxic shot, however its only real benefit come from it's active where the targeted enemy loses 15% of his MAXIMUM health and receives 20% increased magic damage from you. Although this is amazing on Teemo 1v1, it doesn't help to much in a Teamfight, as it does not make you tankier, and you can only use it on 1 enemy. I does however burn through ADC's really quickly which might help in teamfights. If you have a problem with killing the ADC, you might get this item to replace Liandry's Torment.

Laning

Teemo can fight at any lane, whether it is top, bot or mid. However I find him most potentially useful mid lane.

Mid Lane

Going mid lane with Teemo is often a wise choice as you often times are able to provide sufficient harass as your damage is based on your auto attacks instead of spells. Even when you come across tough AP champs you will be able survive lane, though you will have to keep your distance. From level 1-5 try to harass the enemy as much as possible while still focusing on last hitting. One poison shot and a blind early game provides tons of damage for a harass.
