Introduction

Hey guys, my name is TFPower, but you may call me Twisted Fate. I started playing league of legends when I was going through really tough times in life (don’t ask me about it), and LoL was the only escape I had from the cruel reality of this world. Everything clicked with me the first time I had set foot on summoner’s rift, and I spent hours upon hours just blasting away my sorrows in this game. This game really means a lot to me, so I have decided to make a guide for one of my most favorite champions, Twisted Fate, so that I can share the magic this game has with as many people as possible. (Please press return if you are going to hate, I dont care ;D)

Masteries

Twisted Fate is my favourite champions because i really like his burst potential in the mid game. My recommended masteries for this guide is running a straight 0-30-0 mastery rune page, making sure to pick up Block for that extra sustain in the Jungle. This mastery will prove handy in the late game fighting against Baron. I also like to run second wind in the defensive tree, just for that really handy in lane sustain. The life regen is really strong and opponents will never expect it. Since in mid lane, you’ll be going against other AP mid champions, it is advised you take that 10% reduced crit damage, just to make sure that they dont get a crit off of you and catch you off guard. Additionally, taking extra armor is really helpful against powerful AP mids and it allows you to tank just that bit more, thus giving you the maximum damage potential before you have to pull out, and giving you a clear advantage in lane. Taking reduced slow is also really helpful to get out of those lane ganks you may encounter in the Jungle, as well as mid, so make sure you take that point. Another important point to take is in the final point: Legendary Guardian, which reduces CC by a whole 15%. How could you not want that on your carry?

Reason: I find that Twisted Fate is a very squishy champion. By taking 0-30-0, you eliminate his early game squishyness and is able to emerge into the late game as a very strong AP mid burst champion.

Items

Rejuv Bead - This item gives you very good early sustain in lane. Picking up 2 of these is what i usually do when laning against a farming champion to negate that early poke.

Spirit stone - This is a wonderful first back buy item. It gives you both life regen and mana regen which will definitely make your laning phase a whole lot easier. It also allows you to take those jungle camps a lot easier and a lot faster, meaning a lot more gold income

Targon’s brace - This is useful in the laning phase as it allows you to give gold to your ganking jungler. It allows them to tax your lane without even last hitting, giving gold beneficiaries to both parties! This is a MUST-BUY item playing Twisted Fate. You even get the extra 2 gold from your passive for both!

Scrying orb - Getting this trinket will help you to snipe those pesky low health opponents with your Q. This roughly has a success chance of 15%, but it can be increased when combined with your bluecard.

Ninja tabi - This item is great on Twisted Fate. AP Mid champions generally deal heavy auto attack damage to you and this will help tank a lot more damage, meaning you can stay in lane a lot longer :D.

Frozen mallet - This card is really effective on TF. Since your blu card gankz are really strong in terms of damage, it lacks a lot of CC. The frozen mallet will help you with that and allow you to deal more damage whilst your opponent is CC’d

Wriggle’s lantern - The attack speed bonus stat this item gives you is fundamental in TF’s core build. It allows you to stack your E faster and take camps much easier, meaning faster Barons!

Atma’s impaler - This item is really really strong on Twisted Fate as it provides him with both tankiness, damage and crit. This will definitely secure your space as the dominant AP Mid champion

Mikael’s crucible - no description needed, best AP mid item in game

Mejai’s soulstealer (optional, highly recommended)

Dagon - Sometimes that blue card just is not enough and you need that extra burst

Skill Sequence

On Twisted Fate, I like to max my E first for the extra attack speed, as well as the burst damage you get on every fourth autoattack. This will make your life so much easier in terms of last hitting, allowing you to pass the dreaded 50 cs mark by 10 minutes. I like to max my W next for the legendary Blu Card Gankz ™ (I will talk about this later) for the early snowball potentials. This will not only snowball your lane, but will also cause your bot and top, as well as your jungler to snowball with you. I take my Q last because it is a very unreliable skill due to its spread and it being a skillshot. It is much better to gain that extra bit of mana from your blue cards than to rely on such a risky spell that may or may not hit the enemy. I take my ultimate every time it is available so that I can get back to my lane faster after my recall.

Summoner Spells

Summoner Spells:
Primary: Cleanse and Clarity/Exhaust.
Reason: Cleanse is a really effective spell. It allows you to destroy all CC placed upon you (except for supressions but who gives a **** amirite?) and escape those ganks with that much ease. Clarity is also really useful. Your in-lane mana problems arise frequently in lane, as you will be using those blue cards for harrass and not mana. Also, TF’s high mana costs also cause him to run OOM frequently, and without Mana, AP TF is useless.

Situational:
Ignite
Reason: This can come in handy to secure the kills in situations in which the enemy is at low health, but your blue card is on cooldown. Make sure your adc does not get the kill, because if he gets fat, they will all aim him, and the adc dying is not a good thing.

Heal
Reason: You can bait your lane opponent really hard with this spell, and turn the tides of the fight in the blink of an eye in order to bait and outsmart them. Ignite? Healing debuff? What’s that?

Teleport
The mobility you get from this spell allows you to basically be everywhere on the map at the same time. You can teleport in to secure the kill on that lulu with 20 health at bot lane, or teleport to a jarvan flag just to scare your enemies.Since you’ll be using your ultimate to get back to lane, it is important to have teleport to be able to gank and help your other lanes

Smite
This is a really good summoner when laning against Annie or Malzahar. Being able to smite their pet is really useful and shuts down their damage output significantly. Additionally, it allows you to steal your junglers buffs and camps because you need to assert dominance within your team and secure as much gold as you can for you to become a successful AP champion.

Do not take:
Flash
For obvious reasons. If you take this summoner on TF, i urge you to uninstall ggwp. TF already has an in-built escape mechanic which allows him to TP away in times of great danger.

Barrier
Heal is superior to barrier as it can heal your teammates as well

Game Strats

Early game
You should just farm up with your E passive and yellow cards in order to buy your core items and get the snowball going. The yellow card is very good for farming since it stuns the creep, preventing it from auto attacking for a few seconds. This balances out the lane perfectly, preventing your opponent from pushing significantly.
Mid game
The moment you get your ultimate, look for enemies with low health in other lanes (preferably with health equal to or less than the damage of your ignite). Teleport to them (dont use your ultimate here, you need it to travel to lane) and ignite them. This should get you easy kills, as well as making sure your team knows who it is that’s carrying them. Think about it, lets do some logic here, if all the kills go to one person (you playing the TF in this case) you’re team will win because he will carry. But if they are split up, no one can carry, might as well be 5 supports.

Late game
You’ll probably have won by now

Teamfighting

In a teamfight, autoattack and bluecard their main tank. Use your ignite here as well. This could be people like malphite, shen, rammus, garen, etc. This softens up the tank so that the rest of your team can kill him, eliminating a threat from their team. Your would probably die around here, but it is fine since you’ve completed your job. Your team can then proceed to clean up the rest of their team.

Mind Games

This is really quite advanced, so dont be frustrated if you cant master it. It relies on you being unpredictable, so sometime miss a last hit on purpose to psyche and opponent out, or sometimes sell an item (if someone asks why, say it was an “accident”, if anyone knows about the mindgame it will be ruined, or dive some towers, knowing you will die. This will mean that the opponent has no idea what your next move will be, sometimes this will cause them to abandon lane. Unfortunately this tactic is too advanced for teammates, so they may direct some hate towards you.

Friends and Foes

Friends: Tf has many friends, for example, any tanky support with good burst damage that isnt farm dependant but has a sufficient amount of buffing moves as well as team fight presence and also a global presence to help TF with those long range blue card ganks.
Here are a few examples:Urf the Manatee
Foes:
Since TF is so squishy and lacks a proper escape he falls victim to many of the profound gankers. A lot of carries can also give TF a big problem, as they can potentially outfarm him. Some supports can shut TF down with stuns so he can’t use his blue card. He also suffers against junglers, because there are no creeps in the jungle, he can’t see when they are on low hp, so he can’t gank them (fix this riot).

Summary

To conclude, basically in a nutshell its pretty much as simple as the alphabet. If you follow this guide step by step, you will most definitely secure a spot for you in challenger in a matter of days. I’m not in challenger, however thats because my parents don’t let me play on weekdays or after 8 O’clock, so I am stuck in the infamous ELo hell.

Thank you for reading my guide.
