Masteries
Since your main goal as Ryze is to output as much damage as possible, we take 30/0/0 masteries. We even take attack speed and AD.
"Why the attack speed and AD?"
It's quite simple actually.
In Ryze's early game, a good amount of damage comes from his auto attacks. To get laning phase into our favor, we take these masteries which will catch our opponents by surprise when we start auto attacking for 100.
"Ryze needs some defensive masteries to help with his laning and to prolong his survivability!".
When the enemy is dead you don't need any survivability.
"What about mana masteries?"
The utility tree is unnecessary. You should not be running out of mana if you follow this build.
"Why the attack speed and AD?"
It's quite simple actually.

A pretty standard skill sequence, maximized for damage.
Spells

It gives damage. What can you not love about it?
Vroom vroom.
You can jump over walls!
Subpar
A shield? For shielding what? Damage? You're Ryze, snap out of it.
More mana? You have enough.
Only the weakling ADC's get this.
You'll win the fight anyway.
Apparently this spell is the meta now. Not for Ryze.
RIP in peace.
If you're ever forced to jungle, just take this spell and go mid anyway. They won't suspect a thing.
Unless you're playing American Ryze, you are in prime physical shape to be walking.
You won't die.
Doesn't matter if they're ganking, just kill them.
