Hey I'm angrygermankid668 and this is my guide on Shaco. He is my favorite character, and I've perfected him to the point of winning every time with my latest build. I will go through the basics, and how my build works with early, mid, and late game.

Skill Sequence

Backstab - Shaco deals 20% bonus damage when striking a unit from behind.

This passive alows for early game ganks to be as op as possible, but possitioning is key to everything.

Deceive - Shaco stealths himself instantly and teleports to target location. His next attack is guaranteed to critically strike.
Shaco teleports nearby and becomes stealthed for 3.5 seconds.

His next basic attack within the next 6 seconds will critically strike, dealing 140/160/180/220/240% damage (normal critical strikes deal 200% damage).
Cost90/80/70/60/50 Mana

This spell makes Shaco the best jungle ganker in the game imo. You can decieve through walls late game for split pushing, and your early game is super amazing. I get this spell at level 3, but max it last because its mana cost is too high and you shouldnt rely on its damage.

Jack In The Box - Shaco creates an animated Jack-in-the-Box at target location, which will wait, stealthed, to Fear nearby units and attack them when some come nearby.
Shaco creates a Jack in the Box at the target location. It will Stealth after 2 seconds, and pop out when an enemy comes near, fearing nearby enemies for 0.5/0.75/1/1.25/1.5 seconds and attacking them.

Its attacks deal 35/55/75/95/115 (+0.2) magic damage and it lasts for 90 seconds while stealthed or 5 seconds while firing.
Cost50/55/60/65/70 Mana

You need to abuse this spell early game for Jungling/Ganking. This is Shaco's only disabling cc. To combo this spell you must decieve first, and always place the box far away to where the enemy champ will go. This alows you to use its cc ASAP. Some people go AP just for this spell and Shaco's ult, but let me tell you that's a baaaaaad idea.

Two-Shiv Poison - Shaco's Shivs passively poison targets on hit, slowing them and applying a miss chance to minions. He can throw his Shivs to deal damage and poison the target.
Passive: Shaco's basic attacks poison his target, reducing their Movement Speed. If the target is a minion, it reduces their chance to hit by 20/22.5/25/27.5/30% for 2 seconds.

Active: Deals 40/80/120/160/200 (+) (+1) magic damage to target enemy, and poisons them for 3 seconds. Upon activating this ability the passive is removed until Two-Shiv Poison becomes available again.
Cost50/55/60/65/70 Mana

This is Shaco's bread and butter. He can slow anyone if you have half a brain, and can do even more damage with his passive. Enough said.

Hallucinate - Shaco creates an illusion of himself near him, which can attack nearby enemies. (Deals half damage to turrets.) Upon death, it explodes, dealing damage to nearby enemies.
Shaco vanishes briefly and reappears with a clone that lasts up to 18 seconds. The clone deals 75% of Shaco's damage and receives 50% increased damage.

On death, the clone detonates, dealing 300/450/600 (+1) magic damage to nearby enemies.
Cost100 Mana

This spell is one of the most OP spells for a jungler ever. If you learn to use the alt+right click control you can solo dragon at level 6, and solo baron at level 16. Make sure you are not obvious with the clone, and try not to have buffs if you gank with your ult.

I take the standard AD/Jungler rune set up.

8 Greater Mark of Attack Speed
1 greater mark of desolation
9 Greater Seal of Armor
6 Greater Glyph of Magic Resist
3 Greater Glyph of Attack Speed
2 greater quintessence of desolation
1 Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage

These runes provide enough armor pen for true damage early game, damage, tons of attack speed, mr, and armor.

optional runes:

2 Greater Quintessence of Movement Speed
I do not get boots of mobility, so you may get these to make up somewhat for it.

I go the 21 0 9 route on the mastery tree. This gives me amazing early game damage, and critical strike damage so that I don't need to get critical strike damage items. I do not get havok because I do not find it useful to have 3 more ability power, and attack damage. In the defense tree I get 1 point in Hardiness , 3 points in Resistance , 4 points in Durability , and 1 point in Veteran's Scars . This provides more magic resist than armor because my build gets more armor than magic resist, and I like to be balanced. I go up the tree getting veteran's scars and durability providing health which means NOT DIENG!!!

This is when my build differs from everyone else. My build does a lot of dps, can assasinate carries like a boss, split push with ease, and can be tanky enough to stay in fights.

I start out with Doran's Blade. Why Doran's Blade? It gives you health (durability), attack damage, and lifesteal. The lifesteal doesn't seem like much, but in the end it works wornders. The attack damage gives your ganks more deadly, and allows your jungle route to finish faster. Which means better ganks sooner into the game.

I rush Wriggle's Lantern and berzerker's greaves soon after. Mercury treads are optional, but boots of mobility drop off into late game, and are NOT WORTH IT.

I get a null mage mantle to turn into Wit's End at the end of game. I do this so that I dont waist money on the boosted attack speed. You can spend 1600 gold right now and finish it, but I don't recommend it.

Madrid's Bloodrazor is imo the most important item on Shaco. It gives him insane damage to anyone (including tanks), gives him armor, the ability to push towers in no time, its passive applies to your clone, and kills Baron Nashor and Dragon in no time at all.

Guardian Angel is literally your angel when it comes to split pushing. If you push a tower, and the enemy team comes to intercept, you may die, BUT it will give you less time on your deceive cooldown and you will be on your way LIVING!!!

To finish the build I get The Black Cleaver for more tank shred and pushability.

(Then finish Wit's End)

Summoner Spells

Of course don't let anybody else tell you otherwise

I prefer this the best because I do not get boots of mobility. It allows me to escape, and get to a fight faster. Do remember Shaco is a melee character, and needs to activate Two-Shiv Poison in close range


You can try Exhaust or Ignite for summoner spells instead of ghost, but I think ghost is just better for split pushing and getting easy kills.

Exaust it allows ganks to be stronger in early game, but you will not be in teamfights late game so it's not useful.

Ignite does true damage, and allows ganks to be stronger early game but again falls off late game.


Teleport if you get this you might be using it to split push faster, but don't you're a freaking jungler for crying out loud.

Clarity I don't even know why I'm mentioning this, but I have to say this is a terrible idea for jungle shaco.#Justgetblue

Flash coming out of the summoner spell nerf Flash got the short straw. Your deceive has more range than it now, and you get to stay invisible.(Who doesn't want that?)

Team Work

Shaco is not known for his amazing teamfighting skills. He is an assasin, and a pusher.

I split push until I get into a tricky situation, then I deceive out. Next I go to where my team is either using ghost, or just running as fast as I can. I use the same spell combo that I used for ganking to eliminate the other team's carrys.(Not necessarily the people that are carrying the game) Then, depending when it is into the game, push for the win.

Ranked Play

Shaco is extremely viable in solo queue! If you play a good Shaco your team will call you pro and you can carry any game. Jungle route

My jungle route is simple, but effective. I start at blue and lay as many boxes as possible.
once I get to level 2 I ghost to their red buff and lay two boxes in the gap between the flower, and the bush. I two shiv red buff into my boxes and quickly steal it. Then I can go to their golems, or go back to my jungle. Get to level three before ganking!!! make sure you have deceive, two shiv, and jack in the box. I deceive behind the champion, and then lay a box behind me. I apply backstab and two shiv. When fear goes off I activate my passive on two shiv for an easy kill.

Once you are level 6 and have blue buff go to .(get help if possible) Lay a box behind dragon and once it activates use your ult. If the dragon attacks you instead of your clone use deceive to avoid aggro. Then finish it up.

is easily won by your team when you have Madrid's. Do what you did to dragon, and you will be fine.

Split Pushing

Split pushing is by far one of the most important things when playing Shaco. When their is a lane open next to the lane that your team is in push it. If noticed deceive out ASAP. Then go clean up a team fight atleast 4v5 with your team. It's that easy.
