Hi all, I'm Kevin and this is my first guide on my favourite champion, Vayne :). I'm a Gold ADC *cough* marksman main hailing from the OCE under the IGN of Kevin Khang and I've played League of Legends since mid - late season 2. During my time playing I've seen many variations of Vayne builds, varying from Phantom dancer rush to Season 2 Doublelift's Bloodthirster rush to Season 4 Bork + Ghostblade rush. I've played approximately 90~ ranked games with Vayne during Season 3 (second highest next to Caitlyn) and have currently played 19 ranked games thus far (highest atm). And so, from this knowledge and experience of Vayne builds, how to play her and viewing of famous vayne players such as Hi im gosu, Doublelift, Uzi, Piglet and Imp I have gained the knowledge and have drawn inspiration to write this guide that I present before you.

There are many builds out there but these three main builds that I have tested and have seen pros use to great effect.

Who is Vayne and why should I even play her?

Vayne is the baddest b**** around with her invisibility (ulti + Q), Stun/ knockback, maximum health true damage, movement speed and AD steroid. All of which synergize with each other extremely well which results in a lot of outplay and high duelling potential.

There are many reasons as why you should play Vayne. Most notably is her potential to single handedly carry games due to her single target damage vs tanks. And her hyper carry status, rivalling that of Kog' Maw and Tristana. Meaning that she will deal substantial damage in the late game in comparison to other marksmans such as Varus, Ashe etc.

Pros

+ High mobility
+ High outplay potential
+ High damage vs Tanks (True damage Silver bolts)
+ Late game hyper carry
+ One of the best duellists in the game
+ Repositioning made easy thanks to Tumble


Cons

- Difficult to master and to play with great effect
- Condemn is hard to use effectively
- Short range (550) which makes it hard to lane
- Difficult laning

In Lane

Laning phase is one of the most important phases in the game for many lanes. However, for Vayne, farming should be the main priority. As due to Vayne's short range, it is highly possible to be derived of farm. Additionally, farming assists with gaining the necessary items to survive in lane and to be relevant throughout the game. Further emphasizing the importance of farm. In lane, try to trade against weaker lane opponents (due to level/item advantage etc). This brings me to my next point. LEVEL 2. Opting to rush to level 2 helps exceptionally especially with an aggressive support such as Thresh due to the all in potential or high unanswered damage from Vayne .

Farming 101

Chances are, when laning against bullies such as Draven and Caitlyn you're gonna be stuck under the tower farming. In this case, you can opt to max your Q Tumble first for easy last hitting or (if your a veteran) study the wave and study the priority in which the towers hit the minions. Also, if you're duoing with a support, make sure you can communicate with your support to hit minions if necessary. Don't be afraid to use abilities such as E to last hit under tower.

Harassing/Trading

Harassing and trading is quite difficult with Vayne however, when you do have the chance to trade and are close enough. Auto attack -> Tumble (auto attack reset) -> Condemn (3rd proc of silver bolts ). This ability sequence provides optimal trading damage in a short amount of time. However, for simple harass, look to Tumble towards the enemy as they are looking to last hit. Not only is the damage unanswered from the enemy marksman but also it may have a psychological effect on your opponent, making them scared to trade back. This will result in winning lane.
