Blitzcrank can be any easy match-up due to one point in Black Shield negating his pull. If he runs up to stun, guess what! BLACK SHIELD! Do be careful, if you have no vision, your Black shield is not going to help when that robot arm hits your face and you WILL go down. A good trick versus him is to bait like you do not know his hook is up, wait for it and shield, snare him and let your ADC go to town. His speed-up can help him run from your Ultimate so be aware of that. Frost Queens can help him from escaping this. Long cooldowns on his grab and knock up can help you find windows to trade and win doing just that.
Brand
Brand will have you maxing your Black Shield with just him alone. You do NOT want your ADC to meet this guy when you have a Rank 1 Shield. His abilities can be negated with Black Shield, but with lower ranks he will shred it (and your carry). When put in this matchup, I am very careful to dodge skill shots and always be ready to shield my carry (better safe than sorry). Play passive and let him make the mistakes. A early Locket will help his combo from deleting your team.
Alistar
Alistar is very reliant on his crowd control and we are going to be ripping that out of his poor hands. You guessed it! BLACK SHIELD! Take only one point because his abilities will not break your shield but they will be negated by it. Stay in the middle of the lane so he can not knock you into the wall. If your carry is near the wall shield him because that cow can and will stomp his face in for doing so. His healing can be a pain to deal with due to your mana pool will not allow you to kill him generally. Focus his ADC instead.
Annie
This is one match-up I consider going Black Shield first. Being about to stop that cheesy level 2 combo is quite valuable. Do be careful after level 6 because you can only shield one person and that could likely mean the other is going to die if you are in bad position. If your shield is on cooldown and she can bring her stun up then be sure to stay passive. You can turn this raging Teddy bear princess into a cry little girl if you play this match-up correctly. Another one where Locket could be a good idea.
Braum
In this match-up it will be fairly even. However where you can shine is level 6. His ultimate is easily stopped by your Black shield and he is a slow target so easily to snare. Don't let his mustache fool you, if you are caught without your shield, he IS going to ultimate you to death.
Janna
This match-up is one that is going to be hard. Her shield will make it nearly impossible for kills. Her ultimate will be her life-saver so when it's on cool down and she isn't just super passive you will be able to do some real damage onto her. If she shields one target, focus the other because her shield can hold a hefty cooldown at lower levels. Her tornado can be blocked by your shield.
Lulu
Lulu can be an easy match-up. Be careful of her polymorph and play around it. Her ultimate can be a game changer though. Her shield will negate a bit of damage but not enough to stop you. Max your Q and get a couple point in shield to negate her poke. When the person who get the ultimate for her goes to chase you, you will need to land a snare to keep you safe.
Leona
Leona is the girl you are going to want to ban. She will get up in your junk and her ultimate is AoE so your shield isn't going to completely get you off the hook. Play around her ultimate and always be safe. Your shield will not stop her from flying at your with her spear, but it will negate the damage. It will however stop both of her stuns and block damage from her W explosion.
Lux
Lux is one of the harder match-ups. If you land a Q is almost always good game. Same if she lands hers. Max shield first. Dodge skill shots the best you can. Don't let her blast you into the past.
Morgana
Mirror Match-up. Skill based. Bait Q with shield. After 6 use shield to negate ultimate.
Nami
Nami is an easy match-up. Her poke can be a bit annoying but with a little bit of sense and a good snare she will be all but good. Her ultimate is negate by your shield as well as her stun bubble. Low mobility and susceptible to your snare and ult.
Soraka
This one is also a major pain. Self healing when you get hit with Q with hands down make her win this match-up. Dodge that skill at all cost. Your shield will negate the damage but she will still get the healing from it. Her snare isn't much of a problem with your shield. Anyone with loads of sustain is pretty tough for you. She is slow though unless she has the buff from her Q. Don't forget to factor in her ultimate heal if considering going all in. *Note* You can not shield in her snare so be vary careful about that as well..
Sona
Max shield because this lady hurts! Her poke and AA combo is going to make your life hell. Sustain, harsh AoE poke, AoE stun. This is your nightmare. Stay out of her range and pick and choose when to go in based on her cool downs.
Nautilus
You can turn his grab into something he may not wont. If you shield before he pulls, you will drag him to you, but not be stunned. If you are ahead doing this could net you an easy kill. Though he is tanky. His ultimate is easily negate by shield. Melee champ so easy to poke. Not to complicated to win. Big dude turned little baby.
Thresh
Thresh can be complicated because his wall can be tricky. You can only shield one target so you will find yourself stuck dying after your carry is saved. Proceed with caution. His flay, grab, and wall are stopped by your shield. His lantern will make it tough to land kills. Keys to winning this is playing passive and playing around his hook.
Zilean
This one is super easy. If your shield is one a target, they will not pick up bombs off the ground. Care for ultimate and calculate for it. Has a speedup to get him out of your ult.
Zyra
Easy match-up until level 6. Her combo after that WILL punish you if you do not have shield up. Very low hp/mobility for take advantage of that with your snare and ultimate. Shield will negate plant damage so make sure you get some points into shield! Smash this plant asap.
Elegant, morbid, and just plain ruthless, Morgana is always a force to be reckoned with. She shines in crowd control capabilities and magic damage negation. This mistress is bound to leave you begging for more. I personally have fallen in love with the capability this lady holds. Long snare, great single target damage negation/spell immune, AoE pool to get your spell thief's stacks up, and an AoE stun that can be used with Zhonyas making it very very strong!
Pros and Cons!
Pros and Cons!
Pros- High Crowd Control ability, Spell Immunity, AoE Pool, Great AoE Stun Cons- Very weak when caught without shield, skill shot based, reliant on Zhonyas
Laning Phase
Laning Phase
During the lane phase your role will be tokeep your carry safe with Black Shield(E), keep stacks of spellthiefs down with your (W) and attempt to win trades with landing your (Q) on priority targets. She can be a very strong level 1 champion and is very good in match-ups that are heavily reliant on magic based abilities. Level 6 becomes a chance to pull off the double kill. Try to gain vision control of a bush and place your shield on yourself. Walk down of the bush and hit your (R). While they flee for their lives you will wait for the stun to lock them down. Set up your snare (Q) for an easy cheesy kill! Avoid going in when your shield is down and always remember to keep your mana above 35% if not more.
Mid-Game
Mid-Game
During the mid-game phase you are going to be attempt to control vision over the dragon. Make sure to pick up vision wards and sweepers to help you do so. Your ultimate is now very strong and could greatly determine the outcome of the game depending on how effectively you can use it. Zhonya's is now your best friend. Shielding in and using your ultimate on the whole enemy team then using Zhonya's is not only guaranteed to tilt the enemy team, but it could also tilt the whole flow of the game. Ward well and attempt to pick off any lonely champions using your Q over walls. Picking up Redemption is a must due to how strong it is in the current patch. This is your other game changer. Note you can use Redemption even if you are dead! Secure dragons and push the turrets and you will be progressing on into the late-game. (As long as they haven't forfeited already!)
Late-Game
Late-Game
Late-game tactic is much the same but you want to make sure not to blow your cool downs all willy nilly. Locket, Zhonya's, Redemption, Frost Queens, and your ultimate are going to be crucial. Timing is impeccable. Note that these items should be used to protect your carry if you are behind, or even offensive to close out the game. Nothing says how much you hate the enemy as sitting in a bush while they throw the game to lack of vision and your ultimate with Zhonya's! This point I rarely use Q for catching anymore and mainly for crowd control for my teammates. W is used now mainly to push waves. Make sure you are shielding your carries with your E since in the late game this is a huge deal!
