1. Welcome
Hello! I am Tourizm a long time League of Legends Player since season 3! Since Season 5 I have almost just played Support in all different variations, styles, and Champions.
I have peaked in Diamond 4 last season. Since Sona came out her Kit, Playstyle and Champion design hooked me. Until today I play her regularly.
I attend to stream regularly and if you want I would highly appreciate it, if you check out my Twitch Channel. Here Is my Channel
2. What is good About Sona?
Sona is a very popular Support in League of Legends. Her Kit makes her suitable for a variety of different playstyles and teamcombs.Sona has 2 Playstyles: bully mode and sustain mode. Bully focuses on harassing the enemy during lane phase and maxes Q early, while Sustain focuses more on protecting your own carry from enemy harass by healing/shielding them. No matter your MO during lane phase, Sona transitions into a powerful healer that can, with certain luck, outheal Soraka.

Pros:
Strong Teamfighter

Suitable in a variety of Scenarios

Very High Sustain Lane

Q Autos Harras

Ranged Support With High Damage

Big CC Ultimate

Cons:

Very Squishy

Positioning is the Key in her Play

Vulnerable to Ganks
3. Abilities and Sequence
Power Chord

After casting 3 spells, Sona's next attack deals bonus magic damage in addition to a bonus effect depending on what song Sona last activated.

Hymn of Valor

Sona plays the Hymn of Valor, sends out bolts of sound, dealing magic damage to two nearby enemies, prioritizing champions and monsters. Sona gains a temporary aura that grants allies tagged by the zone bonus damage on their next attack against enemies.

Active: Deals 40/70/100/130/160 (+50% Ability Power) magic damage to the nearest two enemies (prioritizes champions) and changes her Power Chord bonus to Staccato.
Melody: Sona gains an aura for 3 seconds. Allied champions that enter the aura will gain an additional 10/15/20/25/30 (+30% Ability Power) magic damage on their next attack.

Aria of Perseverance

Sona plays the Aria of Perseverance, sending out protective melodies, healing Sona and a nearby wounded ally. Sona gains a temporary aura that grants allies tagged by the zone a temporary shield.

Active: Restores 30/50/70/90/110 (+25% Ability Power) health to Sona and a nearby allied champion (prioritizes most wounded) and changes her Power Chord bonus to Diminuendo.
Melody: Sona gains an aura for 3 seconds. Allied champions that enter the aura will gain a shield that prevents up to 25/50/75/100/125 (+30% Ability Power) damage within the next 1.5 seconds.

Song of Celerity

Sona plays the Song of Celerity, granting nearby allies bonus Movement Speed. Sona gains a temporary aura that grants allied champions tagged by the zone bonus Movement Speed on their next attack.

Active: Grants Sona [{{ f1*100 }}]% movement speed [10/11/12/13/14% for 7 seconds (or until damaged) and changes her Power Chord bonus to Tempo.
Melody: Sona gains an aura for 3 seconds. Allied champions that enter the aura will gain % movement speed for 3 seconds.Sona's personal movement speed increase will always last at least 3 seconds.

Crescendo

Sona plays her ultimate chord, stunning enemy champions and forcing them to dance and dealing magic damage to them. Each rank reduces the base cooldown of Sona's basic abilities.

Active: Strikes an irresistible chord, stunning enemy Champions and forcing them to dance for 1.5 seconds and take 150/250/350 (+50% Ability Power) magic damage.
Passive: Reduces the base cooldown of Sona's basic abilities by 10/25/40%.

Sequence

Crescendo> Hymn of Valor> Aria of Perseverance> Song of Celerity

Gameplay
Sona has 2 MO: bully mode and sustain mode.

Basically, there's two categories of lanes you'll face, passive or aggressive.

If you're against a passive lane which I define as every support that isn't an engage champion like Thresh, Blitz, Leona, Alistar, you can afford to harass with Q and auto's all lane phase and should do so, because you need to create pressure for your ADC since your W heals/shields very little. Not much to say in these because it's pretty much just a battle of attrition, try to dodge their skillshots to get efficient trades in, there's very little room to die since Karma/Lulu/Nami/Soraka don't have good initiation tools.

Vs champs that can engage like Thresh, Leona, Blitz which you will often be facing if you blind pick Sona are not bad 2v2 matchups but are really good at setting up jungle ganks which is the problem. You just want to abuse level 1 and poke them as much as possible, then the rest of lane only auto attack for harass if you have vision of enemy jungler or good trinket wards set down. Always save power chord for your W when they inevitably all-in because it is much better than power chord Q.

The goal in every lane is to just outscale since mid-late game Sona is really strong. Also take Armor marks vs aggressive supports.

Charge Power Chord at game start:

At game start, make sure to level up your Q or W (depends on playstyle) and use it once. If you are helping your jungler on his/her first camp, then use your spell again. Not only this helps your jungler, but you also get two stacks of Power Chord. Once you get in lane, you can aa + Q/W + P for a nice chunk of hp. If your jungler is starting somewhere else, just use your spell as soon as possible, this way your mana regen will fill up your mana bar by the time minions are fighting.

While AP Sona is hilariously bursty, Utility has better uses in team fights. Your only AP item should be Archangel's Staff(from upgrading Tear) but only after finishing your build and sit on excess gold. Otherwise you have Censer, Redemption, Athene's, Eye, Tear and Control Wards(if you go bootless) almost all the time. (!)

Good understanding of Sona's Power Chords can help you greatly. In lane, Staccato(Q) helps harassing while Diminuendo(W) is better used alongside Exhaust to cut the enemy damage during all-ins/team fights(obviously, focus the enemy carries with this passive). Tempo(E) is best used for escaping or catching up fleeing enemies as it's quite a powerful slow. (!!)

For team fights, weave in and out of the front line. If your ADC is the only back line and the rest of your team is front, position yourself in the middle of them so you can tag the front line with your W, score a power chord here and there(but don't forget, you can and should deal damage to enemies to charge up Athene's) and if the need arises, run back to your ADC and keep them safe from assassins and such.
