Introduction

Volibear is a tank. Right? Wrong. Volibear can be a tank, but this build turns him into a big furry terrifying truck who eats enemy champs. This build focuses on providing massive damage, with attack speed and items that work well in combination with his abilities. Since they nerfed his W and Warmog's, building full tank doesn't have the same appeal to me. If you feel the same way, here's a build that works to provide some massive damage output.

Pros / Cons

Pros
- Crazy awesome damage
- Hard to run from
- Some natural tankiness, and this build gives you a bit of everything
- Early game dominance
- You eat people

Red
- Not as tanky as full on tank Volibear
- Expensive as hell. If you don't do well early game expect trouble later in the game.

Runes

Fairly straight forward. HP quints so that early game goes easier, gives you some nice starting damage on your W. The armor because you don't build any kind of tank items, therefore some runes help. The cooldown blues just because your cooldowns are rediculously long. Armor pen reds because a lot of your damage will come from auto attacks. Attack speed reds are another option, but keep in mind that at full build you get pretty close to 2.5 attack speed (around 2.2 with Guinsoo's stacked). You can also choose to get hp/5 blues if you feel you need a bit more tankiness.

Masteries

Standard AD masteries, taking every point available to increase damage in Offense. Go 9 into Defense for some bonus armor and the health. You could really go with any masteries, but I find going for full Offense produces the best results.

Items

Starting item will be a Ruby Crystal. Great starting HP and you can build it straight into your first item. If you find your speed to be sufficient with just your W, go straight ahead and grab an Ionic Spark the first time you go back. If not, get Berserker's Greaves and then Ionic Spark. Why Ionic Spark? Extra AOE damage every fourth hit (Works great with Ultimate), attack speed, and health. A great first item. Next move on to building Madred's Bloodrazor. More attack speed, more damage, and it is just generally an awesome item. Expect to be dealing tons of damage once you have these three items. Next build a Guinsoo's Rageblade. More AD, some AP for your Ultimate and E, and of course, the stacking attack speed. After that move on to a Hextech Gunblade. Great initiation, AD, AP, and some sustain, all adds up to you being one scary *** bear. Finish up with a Bloodthirster. More AD, and some more lifesteal. At full build expect to absolutely demolish people.

Skill Sequence

Start with your W. Some might want to start with your Q, but catching up to someone isn't worth much if you can't deal much damage to them. W is a great way to earn first blood. Next get your Q, then another point in your W before you grab your Q. From there simply max your W, then your E, then your Q, of course getting your Ultimate at levels 6, 11, and 16. Your Q is more for utility than anything else, while your main combo consists of Q to close, then E to slow and deal a little damage, then R into a flurry of auto attacks, using W to NOM their last bit of remaining health.

Summoner Spells

I take Exhaust/Flash. Really any combo of Flash/Ignite/Exhaust/Heal/Teleport/Ghost works. Flash is great to escape (obviously) or to use in combination with your Q to close a gap. Same goes for Exhaust and Ghost. Ignite is always useful to have handy for that extra bit of damage. Heal/Teleport are not really great, but Heal + Passive can leave you at almost half HP from being almost dead, so it has it's advantages. Teleport only really if you plan on solo laning.

Summary

So, basically this build is very expensive, but if you do well with it you can easily be the scariest champion on the map. Volibear is naturally tanky and hard to run from, making it rather easy to stack up auto attacks, making these build items very efficient and effective at tearing enemies to shreds. While before full tank Volibear may have been the way to go, after the stream of nerfs to him and his core item (Warmog's) this build can turn you from a tank into a burst auto attacker. Between Ionic Spark and your Ultimate you deal a decent amount of AOE damage, and you deal even more single target damage with a very high attack speed and heavy hitting items. Go try it out and have fun mauling people as a giant armored bear. NOM NOM NOM NOM.

-Sidenote, this is my first guide, so if anyone can clean this up and make it look all pretty and such I'd be most grateful.
