Champion Build Guide
At the moment I have around 335k mastery with it, and you can say "But you're not even a high elo player or have a high mastery level" I and can say, yes you're right, but the knowledge that I have at the moment I can pass on to players that are interested in learning something from me
Basically Varus is a really safe pick, some lanes are more dangerous but nothing that can't be handle
Varus kit is really strong and you have basically everything you need, attack speed, damage, on hit bonuses and a snare
At the moment i'm at Platinum V, and yes, i'm not a high elo, but i've got some time with this champion, and I enjoy playing him, and I like to pass my knowledge to others, that's why I made this guide :D
Varus Passive, Living Vengence, is simple, when he kills a minion or a enemy champion he receives an attack speed bonus, when he kills a minion the bonus is 50% lower than the the enemy kill
A non-champion recevies a 20% + a porcentage of your current attack speed
And a kill or assist on a champion recevies a 40% + a porcentage of your current attack speed
Varus Q, Piercing Arrow, is a line skillshot that deals AD damage, you charge up to 4 seconds before cancelling it and refunding 50% of the mana cost
When you release it it can do 10/47/84/120/157 (+110% of Ad Damage) without charging it and 15/70/125/180/235 (+165% of Ad Damage) charging it
It has a fairly high cost of mana 70/75/80/85/90
Varus W, Blighted Quiver, has a passive and an active
The passive makes varus basic attacks deal 7/10.5/14/17.5/20 (+25% Ability Power) bonus magic damage and apply Blight for 6 seconds wich can stack up to 3 times, and other abilities detone the passive dealing magic damage equal to 3/3.5/4/4.5/5% (+[2% Ability Power]%) of the target's maximum Health per stack
The active makes the next Q varus uses deal bonus magic damage per stack of blight
Varus E, Hail of Arrows, fires a hail of arrows dealing 70/105/140/175/210 (+60% bonus Attack Damage) and slows the target by 25/30/35/40/45% it also reduces healing effects by 40% making varus a really good pick against healing champs like nami or soraka
Varus R, Chain Of Corruption, is a snare that deals 100/175/250 (+100% Ability Power) magic damage and snares the enemy champion for 2 seconds, after that sometime it passes to other enemys in the area
His ult also stacks 3 stacks of Blight
It's a really good team fight skill to snare and makes a high value target easier to kill
Abilities Order
Behind in Lane
If you're behind in lane you should build safe and try to farm as much as you can, to at least have two to three itens, after that you can play around your team, forcing engages for them
Even in Lane
You can play a bit more agressive in the mid/late game cause you have more gold and therefore more itens
Ahead in Lane
That's a jackpot, varus is a on hit lategame monster, so if you get ahead in itens you can do a lot of damage and turn the game around you at all times
But his playstyle also plays around the enemy comp and time of the game
Tank Composition Mid/Late Game
Against a Tank composition, you can build a Last WhisperLast Whisper as third item, with that and the new passive of Guinsoo's Ragebladeguinsoo's, AND Blade of the Ruined King you can easily shred the tanks and should have no problem
Engage Composition Early Game
Varus is really squishy, anything can you burst you really damn fast, a Leona or Thresh against you is a problem if you get caught
In lane try to play around the tower, freezing the wave or resetting it, to avoid an desnecessary engage, if you need to burn Flash don't hesitate, your life is more important than a spell, the only thing that' s gonna change on your lane is that you'll need to play safe, or else you will die
Engage Composition Mid Game
Mid game you can build an Quicksilver Sash and play safe, if you die in an engage and your team is not ahead, then that's a problem, play around the cooldowns of the engages and try to avoid as much as you can
Engage Composition Late Game
That's a problem, if you get killed in a engage and your team dons't recover, it's pretty much game, so play safe, try to get some pickoffs before fighting, again, play around cooldowns and your team comp, if they mess up one engage, you're golden, you can deal so much damage in little time, so get hitting them boy
Damage Composition Early/Mid/Late Game
Varus is squishy, but can deal a lot of damage, so don't get caught in pickoffs or do unecessary trades and you should be good
Play safe if you don't have the opportunity to pick someone off, build an Quicksilver Sash if the enemy team has too much CC and an Guardian Angel if some burst mage or assassin is strong, and remember, you don't need to play like rambo, take your time, use pickoffs to your advantage
Engage Lanes
Engage lanes are pretty strong against Varus, because he's squishy, so you need to becareful, stay around minions when playing against Morgana, Thresh, Blitzcrank, Pyke, Freezing the wave and avoid bushes when against champions like , , Fiddlesticks, Karma and so on
Tank Lanes
When against more tanky lanes, you can stay safe until you get Blade of the Ruined King but don't get too cooky, one wrong step, and you can be punished and that can put you behind
Peel Lanes
Peel Lanes like Soraka, Zilean, Lulu are pretty easy to deal as varus, with some exceptions, but you can push kind of freely, and keep poking and attacking the enemy laner
Poke Lanes
Poke lanes are harder to varus, some champions like Brand, Vel'koz, Zyra, Bard, but keep in mind, apart of their range, they are just as squishy as you, so keep that in mind
Hope you liked it and enjoy playing Varus, good luck in the Rift ^^
