Introduction

This guide is not meant to be in depth. If you are looking for an in depth Varus guide go elsewhere.

This is a guide to Varus. If you didn't already know he has the potential to get multiple penta-kills in one game with very little effort. I am making this guide because none of the people I have seen have played Varus correctly. Hybrid Varus gives you ridiculous damage output and, if not focused you will burst down their whole team.

Also this is my first time trying to make a guide so please criticize anything I am missing or did wrong. Thank you.

Runes

For runes:
Take flat armor pen marks and quints
These give Varus amazing damage output at level, like true damage on all the people.
The armor pen runes combined with masteries give you a total of 31 armor pen at level 1. With a 10% armor pen from masteries good luck trying to stop early game damage.

For seals I take armor seals. These are very useful when facing any team because they get rid of most of the squishyness of Varus. Don't get me wrong, he is still quite squishy but with seals of resilience it removes a lot of damage.

Magic resist glyphs. These are the only glyphs I get for most champs. The magic resist is very useful all throughout the game.
The only other option for runes could be if you wanted to go flat AP glyphs. Other than that change how you see fit.

Items

For items start with Boots and Three Health Potion.
After that rush a Tiamat
If you are one of the people questioning the Tiamat don't
Tiamat applies all on hit effects. This includes Blighted Quiver
This means all you have to do is auto-attack the center of their team and then one ulti/Q/E
will clean up or just do ridiculous damage to their whole team. Tiamat is one of the best possible items to get on Varus. There is no other item I can think of that could even remotely replace it.

Next up is a Zeal, and a Phage leading to a Trinity Force
Trinity Force is very useful on many champs, Varus included.
It gives everything he needs with all the passives. All in all amazing item for him.

After Trinity Force comes Stinger and Hextech Revolver which are later upgraded to
Nashor's Tooth and Hextech Gunblade.

Nashor's Tooth is a great item for Varus, it gives him AP and attack speed. AP for more damaging Blighted Quiver and attack speed to apply stacks faster

Hextech Gunblade is for a similar reason to Nashor's Tooth
the gunblade gives you AP (more damaging Blighted Quiver) and the main reason (besides the AP and AD and lifesteal) is for the spell vamp. Spell vamp + Blighted Quiver = you drain and gain 4% of their health, not including Magic Resist.

Final Item Bloodthirster
This just basically is for a bit more of everything.
More damage and survivability.

Skill Sequence

Start with your Piercing Arrow but max out Blighted Quiver first.
Next max out Piercing Arrow
then Hail of Arrows
And obviously take Chain of Corruption every time you can

This gives the maximum damage possible with Blighted Quiver. The percentage of health damage along with your Tiamat gives amazing damage output and farming potential.

Piercing Arrow is the skill that you want to use to snipe down any runners. The skill shot takes a while to get used to but, once you do sniping is easy.

Hail of Arrows is a very useful skill. It combines the healing debuff of ignite with a slow and fairly good damage. But, it is only really useful for the utility. Max it last.

Chain of Corruption is a very awkward skil. The bouncing chain effect is very easy for enemies to dodge and the range isn't very good. Other than that if you can get max stacks on the enemy team than get a good ulti in they will all die.

Summoner Spells

Flash and Exhaust are the only two viable spells really.
If you want replace Exhaust with Ignite.

Flash is the most useful of all the summoner spells. It allows for ganks, running and chasing. Do Not Replace it.

Exhaust is useful against any AD champ. Exhaust them and they lose a ton of damage output. Also useful for easier landing of Piercing Arrow

Ignite is only really useful for picking up kills. Thats about it.

Summary

All in all Varus is a great champ with amazing damage output. Play him right and you can slaughter the enemy team.
Final Notes:
Tiamat is a must
Don't go strictly AD or AP, hybrid destroys both
Aim for center of team to make the most use of the Tiamat passive
Try and use Chain of Corruption into areas it will cause the most damage, even if it doesn't bounce it will of caused the enemies to scatter
