Champion Build Guide

Wukong 101

By Excuruseh
The Monkey King
Hi, I'm Excuruseh and I like monke.
I have a lot of tips about Wukong, even though I am fairly new to him as a champion.
Toplane Tips and Tricks
Wukong has a decently strong laning phase. Start E to pick up wave and potentially get a decent trade. Although his level one and two are a bit underwhelming, his level 3 trading is very strong with W and Q.
You can easily trade a few more autos since the enemy will most likely hit your clone for a bit. Try to animation cancel your Q, by using E or W to get a bit more damage in. Remember, your Q applies armor reduction, and it is also why we max it first, your W grants you invisibility and dashes you forward and your E is a targeted dash that grants attack speed. A key thing to remember is that your W cannot dash over any walls, but your E can as long as your in range of a target.
Your ultimate is extremely good in team fights, a knockup that deals physical max health damage over a duration, while also knocking up enemies. You can recast this ability once and it will repeat the same thing. I recommend trying to get Q off before using your ultimate, or on the recast for max damage output.
I recommend saving Cyclone for a team fight (IF ONE IS POTENTIALLY STARTING) or for a good pick on the ADC or JG.
Trading/Fighting
Good trading combos on Wukong usually mean using Q near the start of the combo for armor reduction and how you can potentially use it multiple times in a trade. The clone can be used as a bait, disengage or engage, as it mimics what you are doing while standing still. Keep in mind, although this does mean you can have massive AOE knockups, your clone only deals a portion of your damage (depending on the level of W). E is a gapclose with attack speed, so I usually E-Q-AA-W-AA-AA-Q as a simple trading pattern. After level 6, you can use Cyclone whenever you see fit, just remember it is deadly in team fights, especially with a good flank.
In later stages of the game, you are best engaging a fight only when you have Cyclone, as you unfortunately somewhat turn into a ult bot. Don't let this make you think you don't deal damage, but you do lose a lot of value without it.
Wukong is a good counterpick into AD Assassins and Bruisers, as he always has a slight advantage with his passive regenerating health and giving him armor that stacks. (Wukong Mid)
Itemization
Wukong should almost always build Divine Sunderer over Trinity Force or Goredrinker, because he can proc it so easily and it is extremely good as of 11.2.
You deal tons of max health physical damage, and your Q being an auto reset that also REMOVES armor makes the Divine Sunderer do massive damage.
I recommend Sheen first back if something like bramble vest is not needed.
Wukong does extremely well with items such as Thornmail and Abyssal Mask(one of my favorite Wukong Items to get 2nd if they are all ap) because he can use them so easily in fights. I do not personally like Black Cleaver, but it is definitely a good item on him for up to 60% armor reduction. I normally build Divine Sunderer, Steraks and Deaths Dance, or Divine Sunderer, Abyssal Mask and Thornmail if you need to be tanky for your ult. All of these items can be mixed and matched, as Wukong works well with a ton of items.
I Will Be The Best!
Lmao no.
