Hello, my name is DrunkenWolf and this is my Zyra guide, i'm a main support and i've been OTPing Zyra since Season 5. I play on the BR Server and I endup Diamond 4 in Season 7. Pros + High Burst damage + Can dominate the lane alone + AoE Knockup + Great to pick off people mid game + Plants can kill people after you die + Great to deal with squish and tank champions Zyra is a great support pick for solo queue, first of all she can dominate the lane alone, making the life of your adc way easier and the enemy adc a hell, her plant's attack can proc Arcane Comet, Electrocute and Frostfang allowing her to deal a good damage and make gold at a safe distance. She's also very good to make pick offs, her Grasping Roots when landed from a bush is hard to see and dodge, that plus her natural burst potential will make you be able to solo kill almost any adc/mid laner if you have the surprise advantage. She's specially a good pick when paired with self dependent adcs like Ezreal, Caitlyn and Jhin so she can focus in being agressive.

Cons - No mobility/scape - Very susceptible to ganks - Plants can die way to easy to AoE damage - Random seeds passive - Telegraphed CC - Not the best mage supp in team fights For being an very agressive support with no scape is kinda easy to gank a Zyra so you need a good map awareness to know when you can go full agressive so the enemy Zac don't show up from nowhere and just kill you. Sadly Riot nerfed her plants HP to hell, sometimes you will put 3-4 plants boosted with your Stranglethorns Ultimate and they will insta die to some random AoE like Shyvana's Inferno Aegis. Her Garden of Thorns passive is kinda hard to use properly both in laning phase and mid/late game, you almost never gonna make a good use of them except for lvl 1 leash for your jungler. While the best AP support in laning phase she's not as good as Brand or Vel'Koz in team fights due to their %hp damage and true damage.

Start with Deadly Spines to put pressure in lane since Rampant Growth can't do nothing alone and Grasping Roots is easy do dodge, put more 2 point in Deadly Spines to amplify your laning presence and them start to max Grasping Roots for the Root duration which is a great tool for pick off, engages and peel, after that max Rampant Growth to have seeds more often and lastly max Deadly Spines.

POKE

How to use:

This is the default rune page for Zyra, it's made to amplify her lane pressure in the most optimal way, Arcane Comet and Scorch increases the poke damage, Taste of Blood is a very good tool to make you last longer in trades and Relentless Hunter allows Zyra to build Sorcerer's Shoes without losing much move speed that Mobility Boots would provide.

Janna, Sona, Lulu, Braum, Taric, Tahm Kench, Morgana, Bard, Thresh

How to use:

This rune page is made for matchups that being agressive in lane by poking the enemy isn't worth it, usually because the enemy can outheal your damage, in that case you want to save mana instead of spam your skills but make sure to proc Frostfang to keep your income of gold. Electrocute makes this rune page better late game without losing much early damage.

Soraka, Nami

DEFENSE VS POKE

How to use:

This rune page is made to fight against champs that can poke Zyra from a safe distance, making her life pretty hard early on, Time Warp Tonic plus Biscuit Delivery gives you enough sustain to fight back without droping your health to a critical level.

Vel'Koz, Karma, Xerath, Zilean, Brand, Caitlyn

DEFENSE VS ENGAGE

How to use:

This rune page is made to Zyra be able to survive and fight back against her hardest matchups, hard engagers, for taking Aftershock you will be able to survive agaisnt engagers like Alistar and Rakan using you E to proc it and Bone Plating makes you a little more tankier after someone engages on you.

Good against:

Rakan, Alistar, Pyke, Leona, Blitzcrank
