It's a very good mastery for one point. Rants like this have been made many times, but the point of it providing too little gold is and has always been invalid...

Yes, this don't give a good amount of gold, but you don't have what to put this point... 1 point in another masteries doesn't do nothing - almost nothing, but, every three have this...
Defense: 0,5% dodge per point, you'll dodge like 2 hits per game with 4 points on it... but if you want 4% reduction you need this, or 1% of max mana in health regen
Offense: Increase your damage by 1... This is not good... This will never save you, or get you a kill... If the enemy run and survive with 1 life, you're very idiot/unlucky, and should win 1324654721 Riot Points [:

Also, Greed on a support is compulsory - how else will they earn gold during the laning phase? Certainly not through minion kills ^^
