Exactly :l
I don't see how ELO has anything to do with it.
Granted you might be a better player if you have a higher ELO, but that isn't true. Most of my friends don't actually play ranked games and I'd say most of them were better than me.

Jebus made his Amumu guide when he was level 25. He's improved it over time, but it has still helped many people.
I made my Ashe guide when I was about 250 wins into the game. I've improved it over time, and it has helped many people.
As long as you're writing the guide to help people, to share your experience, then you're doing the right thing. If you're writing a guide for the score, or to gain popularity, then you're doing the wrong thing.
MobaFire is all about sharing. Don't listen to your friend. It's only detrimental if your guide is completely wrong and at the top of the list.

The ELO system is broken, period. Don't listen to your friend. You could be the best player in the world, and still have a bad ELO. It's 90% luck, and 10% skill. The ELO system was originally made for chess, and tested players on their skill. If you won against a grand master with large ELO advantage over you then you gain a lot of ELO, and they lost a lot. It works fine, because it is based on your OWN skill in proportion to your opponent. LoL is based on your team's skill, so it doesn't necessarily reflect your own skill. Also if you fought against all gold medal players while you are bronze then it still takes off the same amount as if you lost to another bronze player. I got pissed about that, because they were premade, and all were way out of our league. I was the only one who able to not die in lane. As you can see the LoL ELO system is far from perfect. If there was a 1v1 one map than sure, I'd think you would need at least a set amount of ELO before advising someone. However it's based on your team, so ELO just means how lucky you got.

^ Nope, Elo system works well.
This is completely wrong.
However, guide making ability should not be judged on Elo. It should be judged on effectiveness/functionality of content and content quality ^_^

ELO, in a team game like LoL, is terrible.
The way it was designed was meant for 1v1, not 5v5. This form of ELO also doesn't account for ties because they can't happen.
Sig courtesy of GrandmasterD. Go get your own sig from them. :D

And what do you think qualifies a person to make a guide.
Because I just had a fight with a friend over the fact that I am making guides and don't have over 1.5k ELO.
When I made my guides I was thinking of helping out newer players that might pick up the champs. I mean there's a lot of general information in them that High level'd players may not know as well. But I mainly make it for newer players. I don't think having a High ELO should be required for that. I think the only requirement should be that you know what you're doing with the character you're writing about. As in know the different ways to play him/her and all the items that work with him, and maybe a few tricks if he/she has any.
Idunno, the fight just kinda got me all P.O'd
So what do you think the requirements for someone making a guide should be?
