I was Plat 4 with about 3 lost promos to Plat 3 before this season and getting placed in Plat 5. So maybe The fact that I always easily got into my promos (then lost 2/3) helped somehow?
War and I both were in Plat 4 and got dropped to Plat 5. Some of my friends on my list were high plat and got dropped to high gold. So must be a few factors as to why War and I stayed in Plat.

You might have had a high MMR n.n
I was asking precisely because of this. Lots of my friends got down one whole tier after going 6/4 or even 7/3, so it striked me as odd. I'm currently 5/1 on placements and playing with high silver/low gold players, which has me concerned. Did you play many games against high elo players? Or maybe you duo'd with already ranked friends...

I duo with War, who has been my duo partner for nearly every aspect of my ranked journey (substituted here and there with other players). He's always been the same elo as me: gold V in S2/3/4, plat IV in S5 and now plat V in S6.
I can't say what you'd place this season. But I imagine being Plat last season, you should end up at the very least in mid-gold.

Yeah I'd expect you to place in high silver - low gold. Don't worry about your placement matches too much. You should be able to climb back up to your original rank in good time.
Plus, you can mind of play with a smurf. I personally love playing with / against silvers on my smurf, since they have such animosity towards their quality of play.

You meant "I love to see them rage" right?
Anyways, I saw this video a while ago (can't recall the name, but it could be from foxdrop) that explained why you should wait from one week to a month to play the placements; that way you are matched up with the real silver/gold players instead of those players of your same elo climbing back up/playing their placements.

Don't forget I'm in OCE, so we have a smaller playing pool, which might have factored into it.
Both Ekki and I are in the LAS server, which is big but not as nearly as NA or EUW. Perhaps a little bit larger than OCE, but I wouldn't bet on it.
After doing some math over a reddit article, I've got the approximate players of NA, LAN, LAS and OCE.
-5m~ for NA
-2,8m~ for LAN
-760k~ for LAS
-560k~ for OCE
It may be extremely inaccurate, but at least there is a number.

I'm guessing her MMR has something to do, and the people she got matched to too. I also forgot that she may have climbed during the preseason, so it could be that too.
