So I have a tendency to jump between a ton of champions. I know that it is essential to know multiple champions for each role, and I do, but the fact of the matter is you are never going to be as effective at playing a bunch of champs as you would be playing one champ consistently as a "main".

So what I am looking for here is champions that can really play a variety of different roles on a team. That way you wouldn't have to jump between a bunch of different champs depending on your role, and you can really get good at the mechanics of one champion, plus you would really know a bunch of different ways to build him, so you could counterbuild effectively.

What is your view of the most versatile champions?

My votes:

Sion - Literally can play anywhere. Mid AP Nuke, Really underrated top lane, reallly underrated jungler, can even support bot lane (although he does take some farm). Only place I don't see him is as a carry bot lane. He gets my vote right now.

Cho - Awesome top lane, awesome jungler, gone mid with him too and he cant really out-sustain a lot of typical mids. Dunno about bot lane.

Thoughts? Thanks!

Shaco.

Can go AP, can go AD, can go fighter/offtank/tanky DPS, can go turret pusher, can go anti-carry and kill your carries faster than an Akali.

Has built in wards, an escape Flash with a 3.5 second stealth to it, king of juking, has a slow and is an amazing jungler.

Maokai.

He's a great top lane. If you thorw him into the jungle, his ganks are brutal. His sustain beats most mids. He's "support" so you can throw him bot and zone with the saplings from the bushes.
True love is found only in yourself.

The one on top of my head is Gangplank. He's just that darn amazing. Can be assigned to bot lane support, jungler or solo top. Can be built as a off-tank, a carry or support. Awesome global ulti as well and possess the most awesome fruit of Runeterra - Orange.

AD carries are limited to AD carries. Ex. Caitlyn cant go AP. While Ez can go AP, its not exactly what you would call effective.
AP carries cant suddenly turn into AD carries either.
SOOOO, what i think your looking for is:
kayle can play EVERY single role in the game. Maokai can also do this except AD carry. Gp "can" play all roles, but support GP isnt exactly what i would call normal, and if your AD carry is bad you have no way of helping.

Cho'Gath probably.

I've successfully built him glass cannon AP, Jungle, AD Bruiser, AP Bruiser, AP On-Hit, and wriggles+4 zeals.

That, and he wins tons of lanes because of how good his kit is.

Cho'Gath is really strong.
Tri lane for life.

@Rawr: Support GP is really good honestly.

Any AP carry with an on demand CC can be a scary AD carry.

Take this for example.
Ashe's E is removed and replaces with fiddles' fear. She can do some serious work in 3 seconds.

Thank you to jhoijhoi for the sig, and all the dividers in the guide.

I'd go with GP -
Viable as a support, AD carry, off tank, jungler, solotop etc
Malphite can fit those roles too, I guess.

There really aren't that many champions who can fill in a lot of roles and be successful. I mean you could say "Anivia can play AD carry!" when she quite blatantly can't.

I don't see why Kayle, she can't support, tank, and can only barely jungle (for lulz, too), she's a carry.
