Your standards don't really have to be that low to enjoy those 2.
At least it would be higher than for people who are enjoying SAO, since that is really mediocre, while AgK and TG manage to at least offer a tiny bit of something.

But so does SAO. That doesn't mean that it's good.
I'd put SAO roughly on the same level as Tokyo Ghoul and AgK below that.

Also, Tower of God doesn't have a harem in the first place, wtf are you on about?

It's really bad. But if you liked extremely mediocre stuff like Tokyo Ghoul then your standards clearly aren't too high to enjoy this too.

Watched all of the Makoto Shinkai movies already :p

Tokyo Ghoul is my kind of mediocre :P I never failed to point out the waste of episodes, the extreme pacing issues and overall rushed feeling of the show - I just like it for what it is. The art style appeals to me, the music in the show appeals to me, the way their powers are portrayed and the setting too which is mostly why I like it (it also has a tiny bit* of substance to its story and characters, which is something most "low standard" shows don't). If people can justify liking SAO and other anime of a similar standard by saying "The action scenes are flashy and cool" then I believe I'm entitled to do the same. I've never used Tokyo Ghoul as a standard for quality though so I don't see how you can judge so easily.

If you insist on evaluating my "standards", my favorite series are Shinsekai Yori, psycho pass and the kara no kyoukai films which I believe are all generally acknowledged as "high quality" series.

Also, I just asked cause the shot looked cool xD

Of course. But you can't call the entirety good just because a part of it is well done.
And you need to be aware of the difference between enjoyment and acclaim. You shouldn't call something good just because you like it. Just say that you like it, because that much can't be argued.

Well, you've called it good and given it 7/10. That score is on the higher side of the rating system and should clearly only be given to good series.

I think we've already discussed this and came to the conclusion that ratings are entirely subjective.
Also, I tend to be much stricter when rating anime at 8 or higher. I tend to use 5 as a base with any anime rarely going below it, and I add on to the score depending on how much I've enjoyed it (most usually end up at 6 or 7, which is flawed I know). You're entirely correct though, I should've been more careful with my rating and specified that /I/ liked it rather than rating it numerically like that. Well **** I keep making the same mistake brb editing my last post about tg

So, Aldnoah.Zero season one has ended. Has justice been done? No. Have the heavens fallen? Nope. Did the protag suddenly fall in love with the magical grill? Hell yes. Did the other guy loving the magical grill roast everyone in an act of disorientation? Hell yeah.

This has spoilers that I don't feel like avoiding, you have been warned.

That said, I think Aldnoah.Zero opened strong but floundered a bit after the first act. It's still a solid anime, and probably worth watching if you're into sci-fi or mecha-ish anime, but I doubt that it's going to end up being all that great, even if it continues from episode 12.

It's basically like Game of Thrones, people appear, people die, you hate people, thus waiting for them to die etc.

I just started watching Game of Thrones and I am mostly watching in hope for all the Lannister ***** to die a horrible death, apart from that GoT actually sux balls.

Watching Akame ga Kill!, it's kinda' nothing like Game of Thrones/"A Song of Ice and Fire." "A Song of Ice and Fire" is a very traditional fantasy in the Tolkienian vein, a history more than an actual story. You jump around in the narrative and watch things happen, but there aren't really protaganists or plot so much as there are people whose viewpoint you see through and important events. Things happen suddenly, people behave like selfish ****-holes (which everyone is going to suffer for), and the girl waking up the dragons was probably a really bad idea (which everyone is going to suffer for). The TV show A Game of Thrones is a lot like that, except with much less focus on food, a lot of subplots cut out, and the exact same amount of sex as the books (which results in substantially more sex proportionally).

Akame ga Kill! is a straight shounen that likes to be a bit dark sometimes. Things happen suddenly, and that's about where comparisons to "A Song of Ice and Fire" end. Akame ga Kill! is about people fighting other people with magic powers and winning because they/their magic powers are stronger than their opponent/opponent's magic powers. "A Song of Ice and Fire" is about politics and the coming magical apocalypse that everyone is too busy playing politics to deal with.

This isn't to bash Akame ga Kill!, though. It's just a very different genre using a very different set of tropes and with some very different end goals than "A Song of Ice and Fire." I just don't think the comparison between the two serves any real purpose. You might as well say that it's like Breaking Bad in that bad things happen, or that it's like Final Fantasy XIII in that people use swords. Comparing it to "A Song of Ice and Fire" just because people die reduces both "A Song of Ice and Fire" and Akame ga Kill! to just that, shows where people die. And reducing stuff to that kind of simplicity always belies a vast amount of other things that are going on.

It's a really dumb way of rating things. What is the purpose of 1-4 if you never use them?...
Just make it a 0-5 scale instead, since you aren't even using the rest of the numbers anyways.
Just food for thought.
Anyway, that was never my point, this was my point:

That too, but most importantly: don't call it good just because you liked it (you did call it good). That was my main point.

But then this thread would be entirely hypocritical objective and everyone would act as a groupf of elitists, claiming that animes aren't 'good'.

We can discuss about what we like and what we didn't like without going into if it is good or not, trying to prove our point without attacking the other person's tastes.

About my comparisson AgK to GoT.
Well, that is basically how I see GoT, 'people die'. I have no insight on the stuff you mentioned, I don't care about the stuff you mentioned. All the stuff about their universe and people causing mischief for others with their actions.

I see a corrupt empire, tho GoT has this feeling of 'it's supposed to be that way, cause it's the past', while AgK tries to make the reader believe that an empire is not supposed to work like that and it is entirely evil to act this selfish as the king/emperor.

What I tried to say is not that these shows reflect each other, but that I have the same feeling about them when watching/reading the story. (I am not watching the anime, episode 3 already turned me off).

At the same time I am not defending AgK, as in my previous post I clearly stated that it is a generic shounen, but to me it is a generic shounen with more appeal than alot of other series.
Same for TG.
This might be due to me reading the Mangas and my style of reading the mangas, meaning I basically read every Manga that is updated and drop the **** if it's too generic.

I don't know, it may sound like elitism, but I've read a **** tons of mangas that just gives me cringy in the first 3 chapters and I can predict everything in the following 20 chapters, causing me to think that AgK and TG a above mediocre, a 6/10 if we want to use the scale from 0-10 efficiently.

In my own AniList, everything above 5/10 is pretty good and I recommend it to people asking me :p
