[/quote] If it weren't for him the Axis would have won world war 2 and Hitler would have conquered the world. His questionable tactics cause plenty of deaths among the red army, plenty of deaths on the Nazi side as well. But honestly, he fcking saved the world from Hitler. That's a big +1 in my book. He was even nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Those 20 million also include criminals, german citizens and prisoners of war (1-2 million). Around 5 million died in forced labour camps, all criminals (from petty thieves to murderers). 6 million, give or take, died from famine during the drought period, which honestly, shouldn't be considered Stalin's fault. I don't know how the rest of your 20 million died, but I guess the numbers could be bigger than I stated. Still, he turned Russia into the great industrial power it is today. The big problem is that when he focused on developing the industry the agriculture sector was weakened, and with the upcoming drought it greatly contributed to the famine period I mentioned before. The famine is responsible for 1/3 of the people he "killed". Basically he killed his own soldiers do to some stupid tactics (which US is doing btw), criminals by forcing them to work (better than having them leech of the state right?), his citizens due to an unforeseen drought and shortage of food (he didn't cause the drought), prisoners of war and German citizens who were actually killed by Russian citizens (for the same reason you said that it's OK for US soldiers to kill terrorists). Is he really a monster? Seriously? How can you compare him to Hitler who killed 20 million for NO REASON WHATSOEVER. Jews, Soviets, handicapped, homosexual, Romani, etc. All dead just because he didn't like them. Oh, and did I mention he saved the fcking world? Not by himself, but the USSR played a BIIIIIG part.
