Liked HoMM some years back, the 1/2 version of the game was quite nice just playing with friends over one pc (as far as I remember).
But to me the combat system is boring as hell.
HoMM1/2/3 are carried heavily by the nostalgia factor.
King's Bounty(the newer ones) and HoMM4 improve on the formula greatly.
When playing HoMM3 and 4 recently I realized how terribly clunky and honestly annoying HoMM3 is compared to HoMM4.
My main annoyances weren't in the combat, but pretty much everything has been improved on.

I haven't bought a 60 dollar game since...NHL 12 I think. All the games I buy are 40 dollars or less. Usually around the 20 dollar range. No, I don't have money because I've spent over around $100 on RP and don't have a job yet.
Stop buying 100$ "games" then :P
"I saw [Twilight: Eclipse] in theaters with a girl I was dating at the time. I spent more time staring at my toes and wiggling them than I did watching this abomination. When Edward proposed to Blank Face, I finally looked up with a revelation.
I blurted out loud, in a dead silent theater full of teenage girls on opening night "Wait a minute, Edward has no blood flow. How does he get an erection?" I heard several men laughing, and had several girls turn and stare at me.
I did not get laid that night." - Berengier817

You called 4 the worst and yet you haven't played it. Why the hell do you spout the **** you do about people's opinions on games when you've got no ground to speak?
I call you out because of the overwhelming amount of ignorant nonsense you spew on the topic of gaming (which apparently is suppose to be the topic you're most knowledgeable in). If you're going to tell someone that their opinion on a game that they've played is wrong, I'd expect you to have the courtesy to actually play the game instead of coming off with your rather repugnant views that are clouded with bias and uneducated opinions. Or does the flash version of a game really constitute as feasible grounds to contribute to a valid and reliable source of whether or not another person's opinion (who has played the actual version of said game) on the game in discussion is wrong?
Such ignorance... such arrogance, must be punished!

Alan Wake was a great game but the Witcher was... Eh... Theres better essentially.
Yea, I agree. While most things about the Witcher were good or at least average, the combat was pretty bad, feeling clunky and stilted.
Most people rate it highly for some reason, I'm not sure myself, but it's not a bad game by any stretch at the very least.
The Witcher 2 looks really amazing tho. I own the game, I just haven't gotten around to playing it yet :3
Mostly cuz of slow internetz and 19 ****ing GigaBytes.
As for Alan Wake I wasn't impressed with much except for the story... until I reached the epilogue episodes. Those were amazing, EASILY the best part of the game. I just love the lighthouse part, that's probably one of the coolest moments I've had in gaming.
TL;DR: I consider the main game to be good-ish, but the epilogue is really, really good.

if you want to ignore my justified opinions simply on the basis that i have not played the game in question that is fine. none of my arguments will ever work on you anyway.
games are not some deeply shrouded mystery where only those who play it will ever understand anything about it. and i do not glance at something for 5 seconds before formulating my opinion.

Just like your brilliant analysis of Portal 2 you made from the flash version of the game?

Regardless, your reaction to jhoi and Searz in your previous two game hissy fits and belittlements were unwarranted and unfounded, especially when most of the views you present aren't even your own. Might I request the name of the man pulling your strings, puppet?
