First time really browsing through the forums... and that's all I have to say on that matter.
In the regards to the equal rights between sexes argument, I think the real issue isn't discrimination in law any more, but rather in creed and practical application. And by discrimination I mean ANY sort of bias that exists in your mind, whether it be positive or negative. For example, going back to the example about women winning custody cases more often then men (not saying that is necessarily true, just citing an earlier discussion) I think people are naturally biased to give the woman the benefit of the doubt because of how woman function as mothers in our society and how they are typically thought of. Is it a "bad" bias to think of a woman as nurturing and caring towards their child? Absolutely not. But a father can be as equally as nurturing, but that still would not be our first thought. Hope that made sense haha.
Bottom line : It's really rather impossible to eliminate biases from our mind, so there will never be true equality, at least in my opinion.
Perfect world : Makes me think of the book "The Giver", I read it back in middle school but I think the point made in it is very valid. Any sort of world that was to achieve "perfection" would have no sort of dynamic, it would all be bland. What is happiness without it being contrasted to grief or anger? Also, as stated before by those who dislike human nature, I hear ya. As long as people have free will, there will be those who think that means they can flaunt it at the expense of others.
In short, perfect world is not possible, plus I don't think we would really want it to happen regardless.
However, for a better world, if people could see past their differences and realize we are sharing this world and a common fate and that by working together in a positive manner we can improve life on this planet for everyone, that would do wonders. There are always at least 2 sides to every argument (in many cases there are more than that) and people are too set in their minds that their way of thinking is correct. Being able to see past this hubris and try and reach some common ground or compromise would be wonderful. We have the potential to solve a lot of the worlds problems if we work towards a common goal. I have no doubt that we could find/create alternative resources, cure diseases, end world hunger and such. We're just distracted by petty other things as well as not being able to see eye to eye enough to simply help others.
TL;DR
Summary : Biases will prevent there from ever being complete equality. Perfect world not possible and not really desired. Better world reached through understanding and compromise.
