A typical ad carry build, works on pretty much anybody:
Boots
Health Potion x3
Doran's Blade x2
Vampiric Scepter
Infinity Edge
Berserker's Greaves
Phantom Dancer
Last Whisper
Guardian Angel
Bloodthirster
You can switch around the last 3 items depending on what you need.
Some ADs that scale very well off attack speed such as
Vayne and
Kog'Maw do better with a
Phantom Dancer rush.
If you're stomping your lane or the AD you're playing has a lot of high damage spells that benefit from AD (ex:
Graves,
Caitlyn) a
Bloodthirster is a good choice.
Some ADs that are good at poking / kiting and utilize some AP such as
Ezreal and
Corki benefit a lot from a
Trinity Force rush, but keep in mind while you're better at chasing / kiting you still do less auto attack DPS than if you had an
Infinity Edge.
That's pretty much the rules of thumb for building AD's. Luckily they are pretty straightforward. :P

Thanks to Minho for my sig!
If I summarize the last year of ad-carry builds these were the most used:
Sustain strategies:
2/3
Doran's Blade +
Zeal +
Vampiric Scepter + boots > first major item
Wriggle's Lantern +
Zeal + boots > first major item (no longer used after
Wriggle's Lantern nerf, huge dragon control)
Aggressive strategy:
Zeal+
B. F. Sword/
Sheen+ boots +
Vampiric Scepter > first major item
The mayor items are depending onto the hero. Like already said, some prefer B.F. items, some prefer TF, some prefer PD first.

First of all, 1-2 doran's blades are really good on any ad-carry. There are very few exceptions where getting 1-2 doran's blades isn't worth it.
Post this there are 3 situations to consider:
First, are you vayne or kog'maw? If so are you missing a nunu in your lane? If you can answer no to both, completely forgo this point and don't take anything in point 1 into account.
If you can answer yes to both. You get a phantom dancer because you benefit a lot from the attackspeed, movespeed and critical strike that it gives.
Example build:
Boots->Doran's->vamp scepter->zeal->Phantom dancer->Infinity edge->Last whisper->Defensive->Bloodthirster.*
*you can, especially on theese 2 ad-carries because of their somewhat poor scaling with arpen, switch around the bloodthirster and the last whisper if the enemy didn't realise you're ripping them apart.*
Second, are you doing well?
If you're doing well. You're not doing well unless you can get a Bloodthirster before 16 minutes* you shouldn't get it until later.
Example build:
boots->doran's->doran's->Bloodthirster->Phantom dancer->Last whisper->Defensive->Infinity edge.
*A few ad-carries, especially vayne and draven come to mind really abuses the added lifesteal really well which is why you can on theese delay the BT until 22 minutes.*
Third, are you doing poorly?
damn.. the enemy ad-carry is outplaying you on every level and your farm is terrible. it's 18 minutes into the game and you don't even have a BF sword yet. Getting a bloodthirster at this point would be a fault at this point, you're probably not going to be able to get the stacks because the laning phase is somewhat over. As another added factor of why this is really toxic is because even if you get it stacked you're probably gonna loose them in a postfight skirmish. This is why the earlier IE is your pick in this situation. It's an INSTANT boost in damage, BAM your midgame is now decent and you got dis bro, get back into the game and carry on!
Example build:
boots->doran's->doran's->Vamp scepter->Infinity edge->Phantom dancer->Last whisper->Bloodthirster->Defensive.*
*The reason for getting the late defensive item is because you need da damages to hardcarry, since you're behind you might not be hardcarrying, since you're not hardcarrying you might not be getting focused, if you're not getting focused you might as well build more damage. Although if you die every teamfight you should obviously build the defensive item before the bloodthirster*

Okay, thanks for all the advice guys. So, let's just say I'm playing
Ashe, and I'm having a 100% normal game, no early lead or deficit, just passiv farming. Would my build be:
Starting:
Boots,
Health Potions
First trip:
Vampiric Scepter +
Zeal (other consumables)
Second trip: Build into core (e.g. B.F. Sword,
Cloak of Agility

Starting:

You shouldn't Zeal rush on Ashe. She benefits too much from AD and CrD for her poke. It'd be better to get upgraded boots and double Doran's on the first trip back, then try to save for a B.F. Sword and Vamp on the second (if possible). Building IE early on Ashe is also great, due to synergy with her passive, so you'll likely have

Also, if you're playing Ashe and the lane is just passive farming, you're winning the lane.

Ashe, on a passive farm lane wants to go:
Boots-> doran's(build2 of theese if the enemy is bursty) -> vamp scepter-> t2 boots -> infinity edge-> phantom->defense->BT.

Berseker's Graves,
I want to know because I want to learn how to AD Carry, and then support after, so I know how to play all roles.
Thanks in advance. :)
