Having decided to drop Jax and give Gangplank a go, I've been testing out builds for the past week or so and found that a "Crit Build" has always given the best outcome so far for my newly accuired Gangplank.

With the following build, I've been able to remain in top lane well into the later stages of the game without any trouble against 99% of opponents, however I'm just wondering if the build I'm using could be improved, or is it totally wrong all together?

At present, I'm looking to fill out my rune page with Crit runes, but for now, this has been the build I've been using:

Statik Shiv - Ionian Boots - Phantom Dancer - Infinity Edge - Trinity Force - Frozen Mallet.

For me, it works well, but I'd like to try and get some bigger crit hits as I've seen a few people easy throwing out 1000+ hits.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Drop the shiv or the PD and get yourself a defensive item. Unless you're playing ADC, that is. If top you'll get your *** served on a platter.

Don't fill the rune page with crit runes, get standard armor/mr runes and maybe some AS marks. You don't need 100% crit chance to be effective, you just need to pair a good crit chance with AS and damage.

The build is just way to expensive, I know, GP is a master of farming but still. Also, never combine Mallet+Triforce.

A new Idea what could work on GP might be Muramana. You can more or less spam Parrrley to stack it (and now you can really spam Parrrley), you can get Iceborn Gauntlet to buff your heal and give your Parrrley more slow and this build combines damage and tankyness. It also doesn't cost that much. It isn't actually a critplank and more a tankplank, but critplank has obvious reason why not to play. Other items which would work well with that build are Wit's End, Blade of the Ruined King and Randuin's Omen.

I appreciate the feedback, and I understand that survival is key, but I was more or less looking for a build which would produce some really good crits.

I play pre-made's with 4 other friends, we do well most of the time and we're all looking to make characters with exceptional damage.

I.E: Teemo's shrooms destroying people so on.

All I'd like to know, is basically what would give constant really high damage crits.

Again, thanks for your feedback, I'll be looking to create a build around the above which you stated.

More help is more than welcome!

As you know, your builds costs very much gold and you got mana problems early. Easiest way to solve that is go deep into utility, pick up bonus gold and bonus mana regen. Especially Pickpocket deserves a mention here. Combine that with Philosopher's stone and Avarice Blade to get more gold, give you more crit and more regen. You should get boots 2 of your choise after that. Now it is time to farm some ****. The first item you are building on is Trinity Force, as it is the biggest possible damage increase atm. It also gives you a bit of survival which you will need. Get mana crystal first to solve further mana problems. Next, after that, upgrade Avarice Blade to Statikk Shiv, this gives you another bonus proc on your Parrrley, which also damages multiple people. Next you need to increase your crit even more. So here you go with Infinity Edge. By now you should already critting people for 1k. Now you can either focus on more defense or increase your damage further, just what you want. For more damage, your options are Bloodthirster, Last Whisper and, well, more Bloodthirster. If you need more crit chance, you can also get a second Infinity Edge. For defense you can get Spirit Visage(scales well with your heal), Randuin's Omen or Warmog's Armor.

As for the lane, you can either gamble with crit chance marks and quints or go save with ad marks and quints. Seals you should get armor and Glyphs MR.

Start items should be Faerie Charm+ sight ward+4 Health Potion+2 Mana Potion.

That's more like it, sounds amazing and you've put reasoning behind your items. Looking forward to giving it a try.

Much appreciated, thankyou.

If i can give an advice, you don't have the damage to crit :D I can see a lot of crit items, but not a lot of AD. Drop Trinity and take a BT, you'll do more damage. And if you take ninja tabi and zephyr, instead of ionian and static, you will still have a good crit chance, but more global presence and the tenacity, that you really really need in the actual meta.
Be a grammar nazi with me, i need to improve my english T_T

if you wanna trade survivability for extreme crit damage then try this

Blood thirst + Infinity edge + Phantom dancer + Blood Thirst + Last Whisper + Choice of boots.
run AD marks and get the crit damage quint

this build will get you around 310 bonus AD,55 crit chance and 35% armor pen.

this would yield a parrley with around 430 dmg and around 1.k plus dmg when crit.

but this build as i said will make you so vulnerable so not really effective.
+rep if i helped or if you just happen to like repping ^^
