Personally i find on hit to be fairly effective in most situations.
Wit's End
Malady
Madred's Bloodrazor
Will provide a decent amount of attackspeed and damage, stacking with his passiev to get him up to close or over the 2 attacks per second barrier.
They also add an amount of bonus magic damage to every attack, which can work well against enemys only staccking one type of armor
Hextech Gunblade
This will provide a modicum of survivability with life steal coming from his auto attacks and spells.
Black Cleaver and
Infinity Edge
These will provide your damage boost and give a good amount of armor pen, to help melt down those tanks and squishys
but again i havent played him, so i cant be 100% sure.

tbh
Madred's Bloodrazor and/or
Wit's End would be the only on-hit item I would get on him.
Then build pure AD and watch the other team be forced to build Mres against % magic damage or armor against heavy 600 damage crits.

Also, I don't see the point of
Hextech Gunblade. I guess the Blight procs and magic damage on hit help, but his ult is the only other one that does magic damage, and it's mostly used to immobilize the enemy champion.
I've noticed he has some teamfight utility, but really shines 1v1. So, I kinda like the idea of stacking 2 - 3
Bloodthirsters + 1 - 2
Phantom Dancers.

I feel like there are very few AD carries who would see more dps from having 2 Bloodthirsters vs. having 1 Bloodthirster and 1
Infinity Edge.
Again, it is possible...his ratios aren't set in stone.
