Amumu, either as an AP nuker or as a tank, is strong as **** in teamfights. He also handles the jungle really well and has a great ganking potential. Not to mention your opposite jungler will most of the times be an assassin in gold elo and you can quite easily fight against them. Playing a tankish-AP amumu got me from gold to almost diamond in a matter of weeks, but in higher ranks you are easily countered in my experience.
Jax, most gold players are worse than silver, any scaling champion will get you good results most of times, dont waste time early ganking unless you snowball for yourself cause I guarantee no one will use effective the lead you give them
Q max Warwick is quite strong now, especially in this skirmish heavy META. You can go Enchantment: Warrior after Tiamat if you want to play more of an assassin style or Enchantment: Cinderhulk if you need to be the primary engage, so on top of being a good duelest he has some flexibility depending on itemization.
I'd suggest making a diverse champion pool. Tank, Mage and Assassin.
Tank: Nunu, Rammus, Zac.
Mage: Ekko, Malphite.
Assassin: Kha'Zix, Evelynn, Kayn.
Bonus: Lee Sin (If you're confident enough), Xin Zhao (Underrated in my opinion), Nocturne (Insane Damage but Squishy)
I usually have one for each. I do not focus much on the bans. If a certain champ gets banned, I play another jungler I feel comfortable with instead of going for the risk and play a champ I do not have much experience with.
Rather pick one each, instead of on bans. Because your team might need a certain type of champ to fill the comp. plus tank is tank and all assassins do the same job, different champions but each type does almost the same thing in those types
Well yes I understand the reason behind wanting to have one of each type, but I wouldn't exactly say that playing Kha'Zix is like playing Evelynn. If your team needed a mage for example, and you played Malphite but he was banned, you couldn't exactly pick up Ekko immediately.
My question is more about what he would do in regard to one of them being banned, would he then go for second best (going from a mage to an AP assassin for example) or would he have a backup for each of his classes.
hmm true. I was thinking more along the lines of the role you would play, example heavy ganker or back line deleter, or catching out stragglers on side lanes, or objective focused. Or it could be even more advantageous pickup champs that have multiple build styles. Malphite and Nunu & Willump can go tank, pure damage or both. Same for Lee Sin and Jarvan IV both can be tanky or pure damage.
